Replying from Kishida's Japan: I disagree quite a bit. Nothing seemed circus-y. I would love to see my young students wearing styles like these. The fashions look like clothing worn by a consumer who chooses something that shows creativity without resorting to flamboyance for its own sake. So many collections seem to be the equivalent of comedy's "Can You Top This?" transferred to the field of fashion. "I want to be outré for the sake of being outré and making sure everyone notices." My only quibble is that if Mr. Nagao would like people to advertise his brand, he should pay them for using the advertising space on their bodies and they should get the apparel for free. Like the models are paid. Ditto all the other fashion houses with their polo ponies, etc. only this is even more blatant. Were he to do product placement of his fashions on a TV drama or in a movie, he'd be the one paying. Why not charge him to place his product on your body like the models do, or like a producer gets Post to have its Raisin Bran sitting on some movie or TV family's breakfast table?

@@gnirolnamlerf593 Putting their brand names of the clothes have been MO for all the designers for decades now. This is their way of spreading their brand for more fame/fortune and the consumers to show off their designer togs. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy the clothes - if you don't like the politics of branding you can decide not to buy. Even the haute couture houses do branding on their clothes and accessories. It is maximizing commercial opportunities.
