Kerry Livgren speaks openly about what's most important to him

Kerry Livgren (founding member of the band Kansas and writer of "Dust In The Wind" & "Carry On Wayward Son") speaks openly about why he disbanded Kansas to form the group AD. He also exlains in detail his motivation for being a Christian.
This was recorded during an AD show in Franklin, PA somewhere in June of 1985.

Myself and a few friends were fortunate enough to attend this AD Concert in Franklin, Pa, 1985... The musicianship and professionalism was simply out of this world.......!!!!

Kerry is an angel from God. His lyrical messege reached me in my rebellious teens and God used his words to keep me from venturing too far away from Him. No other contemporary artist comes close to relaying the deeps truths of life as Kerry.

I agree. Kerry's songs have stood the test of time. He was Kansas' and AD's main lyricist and songwriter. I think at least 80% of the 1973-1983 material was penned by him. Almost all his songs deal exclusively with one subject matter: the search for truth. After his eyes were opened back in 1979 he used his songwriting skills to proclaim the truth. Sadly, this also became the main reason why Kansas would break up some years later.

Totally awesome. All true. Jesus Christ is life. He gives true peace that can be found nowhere else. I admire Mr. Livgren who isn't afraid of offending. He speaks the truth.

I am Jewish and, although we fundamentally disagree on the notion of men being sinners without hope, I have a profound respect for Kerry, both as a musician and a human being. To be a rock star living the R'n'R lifestyle and freely choose to seek out G-d is an amazing thing.

Kerry wasn’t saying men are sinners without hope. He was saying men are sinners without hope- Jesus is that hope. I pray that you will have a relationship with Him one day. No more do you need an intercessory to talk with the Father. No lamb sacrifice. Yeshua was THE Lamb. Slaughtered for us all. He took on my sin, your sin, and the sins of everyone else in this comment thread and beyond! He is alive, conqueror of Death!

Much of what Kerry wrote with Kansas and AD has proven to be prophetic...not sure how much he was the lyricist or wrote the music or some of both, but go back and read Fair Exchange, Ground Zero, etc....it is coming...

Great to see this living testimony of the reality that Jesus Rocks yer blues away ! Also Alice Cooper and Head ( brian welsh ) from Korn and many others speaking of the truth of changed lives , this is not religion , this is eternal life thru Jesus ! The only name given by the only God living whereby man can obtain Eternal life in the future ( soon coming ) kingdom !! All I can say is " Hallelujah " !!!

I agree with you. I'd have to look into the dates. Were the dates of the exploits you mention before or after his interviews and Christian statements? Do a youtube search for his interviews about his Christianity & golf game with RC Sproules. Wish I could do this stuff for a living. It's fascinating. He claims many of his songs are warnings against such a lifestyle. I have some strong questions about Head though.

Thanks. I'll look it up. If this is true, it sounds like a typical politician. "I am so against that!!!" when sitting in a crowd against it, then "I am soooo for that!!" when sitting in a crowd that's for it....whatever "it" is. It really makes the bucks and most of the voters & consumers are gullible so they are successful.

I'm confused. I've seen at least two interviews with Cooper in which he specifically states he is Christian. That was the subject matter of the interview.

Belief in God isn't about proof. Ever see someone look another right in the face and say "you know, I don't belive in you." They're not doubting the person's existence. They are expressing that they have no faith or trust in them. The unbeliever wants to know why he or she should believe/trust in a God who appears to have left them to fend for themselves in an "appearently" godless world/universe.

You do realize that everyone must start with an unproven premise. That makes you arrogant af in stating there is no God. You can BELIEVE there is no God, however, and there are many reasons people have for this. I gave God the benefit of the doubt when I hit rock bottom and couldn't pull myself up by my bootstraps, and I got results, so I'm rolling with it. Who are you to say that is bullshit? Just another arrogant atheist, that's all. I believe consciousness precedes material existence, and you believe the opposite, I would assume. I'll also have to look into the dates, however as I said he regularly still talks about doing these things during his radio show Nights With Alice Cooper nightswithalicecooper dotcom and last I checked, you can still buy the graphic novels. As to Brian Welch, in case anyone is interested in a good example of how contradictory he is, he just rejoined Korn recently. Just Google korn-reunites-with-brian-head-welch-20130128

And here I've seen and heard him say that he's not. What a coincidence. In fact, I used to listen to his radio show every night and to this day he often speaks of his adventures with living the RnR lifestyle, his quite-opposite-of-Christian graphic novels, and the fact that he and his bandmates still party it up like they always have - in the Sex, Drugs and RnR moniker. You either are or are not and he very simply is not. He is agnostic and has not chosen any religion to follow.
