This is my EDC knife. I’ve had it for a few years and it’s amazing. I went to bass pro and told the salesman I wanted a nice American made every day knife. First one he suggested was the Link and I went for it. Hasn’t failed me yet and it’s by far my favorite carry knife.

I wish they still made this knife. This has been my EDC for the last 4 or 5 years. I have a blue one, but when they discontinued them I bought another blue and a gray with a serrated blade. Great knife.

Great review of a knife I bought about a week ahead of your publication on KZfaq. I saw both styles in a local outdoor store, and left with the aluminum black wash model. No regrets and am glad to show it to all my knife-friendly associates. It's a little heavy for my EDC in dress slacks, but as soon as I'm dresses in khakis, jeans, shorts, or cargos, this knife is with me. Thanks always for your reviews, presentation, demeanor, and proficiency.

+gideonstactical It arrived today (a day early). I must say, the fit/finish/feel is very, very nice. And I love the heft. I'm a large framed guy and there's plenty of handle to grip. For my first ever EDC knife, I'm likin' it a lot! Sometime in August, the Kershaw Induction becomes available. Have my sights set on it.

I'm a big fan of Kershaw knives, I feel like why have a knife w/o Speedsafe opening! haha. I have a few Leeks (cheapest one I got was $25 from Dicks, black on black, still Sandvik still made in USA), a Blur, and the Hotwire which is a $10 version of the very cool Random Task knife. I just ordered two of these Links in the blackwash finish, they look so awesome. 420hc is decent especially with the great design of the knife as you said. I loved your review and subscribed!

I agree that it's nice to see a less expensive (not cheap) USA made folder. I would go with the less expensive one for my choice, better ergo and easier pocket extraction works for me! And tip carry is also my desire. Nice review!!

Just got one in blue aluminum. Very nice, fits well in my hand. I prefer larger blades but this knife is a winner. My second kershaw, I have the blur in s30v and love it. Some people don't like the speedsafe and deassist them but I think it's great.

I bought a Kershaw Link 7 years ago at Walmart and it is black wash with the Glass Reinforced Nylon handles. I got lucky and they mislabeled it and I only paid $19.96 for it instead of $39.96. It's a great blade and it's my favorite go to folder.

Very ergonomic handle, made in the USA at a reasonable price, tiny bit heavy for it's size but to mill out the liners would increase the price. I would like to see a G-10 model...

I've been collecting for over 40 years on my own and with my Dad (RIP, finding and surprising each other cool/fun knives was one of our many neat things we did for one another and I really miss that), long before I knew there were others with such pack-rat, gear-obsession issues as myself LOL. I also use my tools as tools from backpacking to rafting to working in EMS/Fire/Rescue and now General Contracting and if I can find a tools weak point I will and have. I just love collecting tool and the wife could confirm... there's a LOT of knives everywhere in this house LOL. Point being I objectively don not "need" another knife, ever, as long as I may live... But I found a Link locally with the "Gibbs" wash like the ZT knives and it jumped out at me as something different and kinda cool (my wife always loves old NCIS episodes when Mark Harmon points out how "Every man should have a knife" and likes that striped blade wash so I got her one too). I usually EDC my RAT-1 or sometimes a Tenacious and the RAT has seen several years now of teaching wilderness EMS classes (I can't tell you how many of these kids DON'T have a knife or even know how to use one should they need to do so... very sad what this countries teaching kids now) to cutting lumber strapping or even in one case freeing a patient from a car-seat-belt after the fancy "strap cutter" another guy had failed to get her out. Well, as of the last week the LINK is taking over as my EDC for a while and I REALLY like this blade. I whittle/carve and the blade shape and great edge/edge retention (for me anyway) have made quick little doodle carvings a breeze. Super glad I found this knife and as always thanks for the solid work and outstanding content.

....bought one off of eBay for 38 bucks total shipped....I love it...just the right size IMO...not too big...not too small....love the blackwashed finish on the blade and I can't help but feel the curve to the belly of the blade would be great for skinning the hid off game....I got the gray aluminum handle one that appears to been bead or sandblasted finish which I like because I don't want a finish that gets scratched up...the fact that the knife is made in USA is the clincher...it's a beautiful USA made knife at a great price....I might get a couple more at that price and due to the fact it's USA made! Love it; super knife!

A fine review of the Kershaw Link knife, Aaron. I like how you've added the phrase, "USA All The Way". Good to see that many knife makers today do not always rely on overseas manufacturing and that American workers are benefiting from this practice. In the past it was a given that an item of inexpensive manufacture was a poorly made item. That does not seem to be the case any longer. I could provide many examples that support my argument; and not just in the knife world. Though I prefer better quality when I purchase a folding knife, nevertheless this Kershaw Link folding knife is impressive. Thank you for the review.

I purchased this knife 3 days ago at my local Walmart for $40 bucks and i was sold because it is made in the USA. Personally, I selected the model with the GRN handle with the stone wash finnished blade because i do not own anything like it (i really like the shape of the blade) i would carry mine everyday and less weight is better IMO im not debating. I respect everyones opinion. Its definately a good knife at this price point, it does its job right, sharp out the package and its made in the good old USA. Its a win, win all-around! Enjoyed the vid and the comparison. "In addition, i must add, the model with the aluminum handle does appear aesthetically more pleasing/elegant knife". Thank you

I now own BOTH models and could not be happier. My one and only kick is that it is NOT a "deep carry" knife. The good news is that the clip from a Kershaw 1350WM fits perfectly and drop it so far down in your pocket it disappears!! The "Camp Kits are cheap and the mod to the Link is worth EVERY cent. Check it out ya'll. Hella cool!!!

Nice review and comparison, but I have a question a bit off the point. I saw two black Kershaw Leeks, but I noticed that the first one had small, fine, white lettering near the end. The second one, was exactly the same, the packaging was a bit different, but same name, specs, price, etc., except it had the word "Kershaw" in larger white letters across the handle. I read both packages, but couldn't make anything out of it. Is there something going on at Kai or Kershaw? Is it just a cosmetic change? Does it possibly denote where the blade was made? I purchased the combo edge plain Leek on clearance for $20 and it's very nice and opens very fast. I would consider another (not a big fan of assisted opening) if it was rare or a good deal.

Just bought the serrated version, aluminum handle1776GRYBWST for EDC, replacing a Spyderco that was more difficult to open after a hand injury. Strictly for emergency / self defense, I don't have need for a knife on a daily basis anymore, so plunking down a lot of money makes no sense. I read a lot of reviews, Made In The USA was important to me, and this knife kept coming up among the contenders.

Not a huge fan of 420HC,but the budget version of this with it is fairly decent. Not quite bucks 420HC but solid for budget steel (a jump over 8CR13MOV crap at least). And you're supporting American products. I bought one for that along even though I'm more a spyderco guy, and I like it enough I may buy the higher end model.

Nice and honest review. I like the purple/gray ish color on that al. version. Very nice. I am curious how the edge will hold in daily use. That's a concern of me about the 420HC. Would the knife be a lot more expensive when used f.e. cpm154? One drawback though: pitty it isn't european made to support our workers :-)

Hi Aron! What is this "alluminum"? Is it the same, that we here call " aluminium", or a special american "grammar-alloy"?

Great review....Please consider using less expensive rather than cheaper when comparing the higher priced model to the lower priced model. Cheaper denotes or implies lower quality materials, performance, fit, and finish. In the case of the Link, different material of the handle, which may actually be preferred by some over the aluminum, is really the only difference....

YES, this is my only "gripe" with this review also. I also equate "cheaper" with quality, and "less expensive" as pertaining to cost. VERY different.

The LInks ARE great values. Especially the version witht he 20cv blade and Alu scales for $80.00. Truthfully none of us needs more knife than that :) At most the cost of a PM2 with a CruWear blade....not htat I actually place much emphasis on "super steels" for "everyday USe" (..heh not "carry"). The key is to some a little sharpenig skill. ...when blde dulls enough...sharpen. Budgtet stel or ot...won't matter if youhve M390, Maxamet, S90V if you don't sharpen them... And for the "uses" most guys actually use these knives for...heh... all the more reason to keep it below $80 :)) IMHO
