Another benefit is you pay ZERO state income tax in Florida. If you are working for an out of state employer from home you may still have to pay a non-resident state income tax to the state that your employer is based in. Florida state sales tax is 6% + 1 to 1.5% local sales tax. So overall it's a steady 7 to 7.5% sales tax, for the things you buy, in most places throughout Florida

Great point YF. If you work remote, my understanding is if you tell your employer you moved to Florida and officially change your address, once you are a resident, you no longer have to pay state income tax. It goes by your address where you are working not the companies. That's my understanding but check with your employer.

I graduated highschool in Florida and then moved out west and eventually back to Connecticut. I want to move back to Orlando. Seriously considering it at this point. I'm a remote Software Engineer so I know I'd be really comfortable out there.

As someone trying hard to get my affairs in order to move to Florida from elsewhere in the Southeast, I love all your helpful tips and videos! I'm new to your channel but I can tell you're a guy who's hellbent on making sure he can help others achieve what he has - appreciate it, Barefoot Vlogger!!! You're right, the hardest job of all is finding one! Thinking of taking 2 part time jobs to save for a vehicle and bank a few thousand, but dammit, I WILL get there before 2022! :D

I've been searching for an online job for months. For every potentially legitimate position posted, there are dozens of scams and/or multi-level marketing listings. My inbox is inundated with junk. I really want to work from home. My goal is to be in Florida within a couple years. And then, travel as often as possible. I have excellent customer service skills and am passionate about real estate and design. I've also had extensive careers in massage therapy as well as features writing and proofreading. If anyone has advice on how to weed out the spam or if you know of specific positions available, I'm open to all suggestions. Thank you for posting this video! It gives me hope.

My job switch us to full time remote and the wife was always remote now we are waiting to see if my kid's schools are reaming open or going full-time remote because if they do you bet your butts we will rent down in Florida for the Winter!

Bottom line is that you have to take jobs you like, get good at, and thrive in. Rather it be working remotely from Cedar Key, FL or going to the office daily in Miami.

I have a coworker that's moving to Fl and will be working remote. I told my boss since he's doing it I'm gonna too 🤣😉. I will eventually, but the timing is wrong for me right now. Being in IT I don't see it becoming a problem in the future though. No need for a new job just new scenery!

Heck ya. I've been working from home since the end of February due to the lovely Covid. I didnt realize how much I love it. I save over 300 miles a week from driving which is 2 hours a day. I can't bring myself to go into a office again after 16 years at working at my job🙃🙂

Hope so, I work in the legal field. Bankruptcy Dept for a big bank, ironically bankruptcies are down significantly (other than businesses) its a bit of a head scratcher. Unfortunately I think the start of next year will be crazy busy😕

That's a pretty general assessment, Eclair. I also think it depends where in the state you live. For example, I know cable TV installers, with a high school diploma, and they're making between $1,500-$2,000 a week installing cable and internet. I've had teachers down here tell me they're making more than they did up north after taxes partly because we have no state tax. Realtors right now are making a bundle. Electricians, plumbers and carpenters have more work than they know what to do with. None of them work in food service.

He played for volt sciences in soyoset. A computer company. They would play against the long island railroad team and others. Always on a Sunday night. Great memories. We lived in bohemia in suffolk County, but all our family and child hood friends lived in Wantagh and Oceanside. Now there all in Tarpon Springs, Dunedin and Springhill. Doug that's an excellent start! You're ahead of most people looking to come down. Don't worry, it can be done! Be diligent, ask questions and talk to residents--not just realtors--to get the scoop on areas you're considering. Reach out to me on FB any time.

Doug, what areas are you considering? That number can be doable but depends where. South Florida would be challenging particularly in good school districts. Have you considered a little further north in Florida, up by Palm Bay? It's actually central Florida on the east coast south of Melbourne. If you want to be further south, then Port St. Lucie is a nice area a little over an hour north of here in Boca. Tampa area has some good schools too if you want to be on the west coast. Prices have gone up down here but there are always deals to be had. Check some by owner listings as well as agent listings. Good luck and thanks for watching! 😎

Outside of Tampa or St Petersburg like Land O'Lakes, Brooksville,spring Hill. Around there. I don't want to live in a apartment complex I rather live in a duplex. But it has to have a yard. my wife takes care of the elderly so she has no problem finding a job down there

What’s your obsession with Florida? Why not Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, South Carolina, Mississippi where it’s way cheaper you get more house and land, you get the same sunshine and beautiful beaches and you don’t have to worry about your children being victimized by crime, drugs or awful education.

That could be 10 years or never. You can't live like that brother. At least I can't. There's a new dynamic. If the economy falters it will take it's toll on brick and mortars just as fast if not faster. In fact, remote employees may have a leg up because they cost companies less.

@@BarefootVlogger and also, the point you make of remote jobs being stronger doesn't make sense because if you live in a strong city with lots of jobs, you have both remote AND conventional jobs at your disposal. Remote jobs are only being offered because of the ridiculous labor shortages caused by the government giving welfare (unemployment) checks to people refusing to work. If they really felt it was better for their business, they would have offered them long before Covid. Once the market flips back to an employers market, remote jobs will be the first to go as their either outsourced by Hindus overseas or replaced by brick and mortar positions.

The working CONDITIONS you never could of prepared me for. Some resemble slavery, some prison, and others a concentration camp. Beautiful place to live, horrible place to work.

Exactly one of the reasons that I suggest a remote position. You shouldn’t have to deal with those types of working conditions but I would put the companies at fault for that not Florida. Sorry you had to go through that and wish you best of luck going forward

As much as it’s kind of you to help out others, I am cringing as I watch this video. We are so congested here in Florida. Especially the last couple of years people have flocked down to Florida like no where else was available. Traffic is horrible unless you live on the beach and people are not the friendliest. Think twice please before moving here!
