As Mark says, “Do not do this exercise over a surface that you could damage if you lose the kettlebell.” I do my kettlebell training in a room with a hardwood floor, the only place I have to work out. The floor would almost certainly be damaged if I dropped a hard kettlebell on it, so I’d been avoiding doing behind-the-back or between-the-legs passing moves. Recently, though, I bought a six-kilogram soft kettlebell and have started trying Mark’s around-the-world moves. I’ve dropped it once, the second time I tried a back-to-front between the legs, and the floor was fine. The soft kettlebell has a hollow plastic handle and is almost certainly less durable in the long term than metal kettlebells, but for this one purpose it is fine. I’m happy I bought it. And I’m happy to continue learning from Mark’s videos.

Reminds me of passing a baton. In theory dead simple, but if you don't concentrate things can go wrong. Amazing how a kettlebell can transform itself into a cannonball.

Nice. Thank you. I always did front to back before but back to front I think I like more because of lesser chance of hitting the knee or shin.

I need to work my way up to this... But this is SO GOOD: so systematic, so clearly broken down, so... nerdy?

I think you will find the operative term is “helpful” Comprehensive and systematic method (using “nerd math”) which challenges without unduly stressing.

OK. Just tried it with the stand. I think there is an added benefit on the lower back, glutes and hips. And it seems to suck less than staying low.

Love this exercise. Would recommend not wearing baggy shorts while performing it as I've lost the kettlebell getting caught up with a handful of shorts

Great video as always. For those of us with turned out feet & 1 particularly so, will pointing straight ahead on all these warm ups and swings be too much too soon for our CNS to cope with? Should we work them inwards over the course of weeks of practise?

Hey Mark, question here. I just started seriously working out with kettlebells and I find that swings, cleans and snatches all work my lower back, glutes and hamstrings in almost the same way. I don't know if this is intended, as it feels like they overlap and my body doesn't have time to recover. Is this the result of a beginners weak posterior chain, that will go away after my body adapts, or do i need to switch something up?
@MarkWildman
@MarkWildman 2 жыл бұрын
all of them work to posterior chain in different ways. the overlap is good. you just need to keep practicing. pick a program and start doing your numbers so you can improve all around
