My daughter spoiled Santa Claus to her 1st grade class. She told the kids their parents bought the toys. And teacher said he’s real he brought me these earrings last year. My child said no he didn’t your husband bought you this. My kids didn’t believe in Santa, Easter bunny, tooth fairy. Here’s the thing. Black Women have worn wigs, weave and units for years but it doesn’t mean we’ve ever been accepted (acceptance has only started since white women and white gays have started “making it popular”) . There are still men who actively cite our hairstyles and versatility with units as a reason not to respect/date us and as a reason to publicly embarrass us. I say this to say: Men- if you wanna wear your units, wear them. But don’t bring us and our long-standing unit experience up in conversations when justifying your own, because we still get sh*tted on and disrespected for wearing ours. The true experience of being black and wearing a unit is being criticised for it by both men and women and still wearing it and feeling good about it with your whole chest. So just wear yours in peace without bringing us up for comparisons of acceptability. Wear it proudly and feel good about yourself, but leave us out of it because the history and experience is not the same. ✌🏾😘

That "being friends" thing is tricky when it comes to how a man approaches the woman.
