With NASCAR coming back and Kevin Harvick off on a hot streak, I believe it is appropriate to take a look back at the team that won the first NASCAR race that I ever attended and what their history looked like, on path to their closure in 2011.

One thing about KHI is that they did have a Rise but never really had a fall. A very rare thing to happen when it comes to teams that merges or shuts down.

Since he stepped away to focus on his Cup driving, I'd be surprised if he didn't get back into car ownership when he retires from full time.

I would guess he will start up a company to fill the voids that Stewart Hass Racing isn't racing in so Keelan can work his way up to Nascar. I'm sure they will have other drivers racing for them also, but I can promise you Kevin is going to spoon feed Keelan like Ty and Austin Dillion did because he hated how RCR didn't care when they trashed his equipment going after other drivers when ty or Austin got mad about anything on the track.

Thumbs up for a nice job - as always. Back in the day, I was shocked when Happy closed up his teams as they seemed to run really well. But admire his dedication to winning a cup. Looking forward to the next one - I'd like to see Robby Gordon Motorsports - even though his cup teams never got that win. Still an interesting story.

KHI was probably one of the coolest things for my hometown of Kernersville, NC. They would always allow tours and throw at least 1 or 2 “fan days” where they would open up the shop and roll out the cars and have tons of food and music.

*Fun Fact:* KHI as a race team didn't shut down/merge with RCR so Harvick could focus on his racing career. The main reason was because Kevin & Delana were starting a family. At the time of the announcement that KHI was shutting down, the most likely reason was that Kevin & Delana were getting a divorce... Boy were those people proven stupid!

One of the reasons Keven Harvick sold his teams may have been to concentrate on a Cup Championship but that was because he was still driving for RCR and Richard Childress talked Keven into selling him both the Truck and Xfinity Teams to get a head start on putting together teams for his grandsons to start their careers in NASCAR

This video on KHI really brings back memories, Harvick was my favorite driver in the late 2010s and my first race in person was the 2009 Toyota 200 in which Ron hornaday got his 5th consecutive win, my second race was also won by Harvick the next year at the same track so that was also great. I do miss the KHI days but I understand the pressure he was under and I hope when he retires from driving that he will form a team again but unfortunately I don’t see that happening.

Got a A+ on a biography paper I wrote on Harvick in class Critical Thinking and Writing class I took in college during the '13 season right after the SHR deal was announced and predicted he would be a Cup champion within his first two seasons there bc of the HMS alliance at the time.

I would like to see a rise and fall of Bace Motorsports. The team was iconic in the Busch Series in the mid-90s winning Busch Titles three years in a row from 95-97 with Johnny Benson and Randy Lajoie. The last memory I have of them is as a part time team in 2004 with Tony Raines in the Busch Series after having tried to make the jump to Cup in 2003. Would like to see what happened to this operation

I worked at REV Racing and moved to NTS up in harvick's old shop and they had all the KHI stuff still hung up and a lot of employees. They were always saying "see those banners up there? This is how we used to do things" any time i was building something different than they used to. I moved back to REV racing and proceeded to win the 2 opening races with Daniel Saurez after only having 2 weeks to get the cars ready. In tech after the races when those guys walked by i would say "this is how we do things" It must have been extra stress ok Harvick having employees like that. Always wanted to tell me how wrong i was.

I've been a fan of harvicks ever since he came into the Busch and yes there was a rise but no there was not a fall Kevin stepped away to focus on his family it's when his son was born unlike the rumor that they were getting divorced wrong and I appreciate him for stepping aside to take care of his family and focus on his cup career and when he took over and Brooke came in on the 29th that was not his dream he's always beat his own for his own path until Dale passed because he was already scheduled to start in Atlanta in the 30 AOL car he had seven races he was going to run plus the busch series but instead he took over 29 and done what was best for the company even though I didn't want a championship there he did a hell of a job for RCR anyway that's my two cents worth y'all have a good day

I don't think KHI ever did fall, Harvick was just too burnt out on ownership and wanted to focus on his driving career. I wish he still had his truck team, though.

I don't like Harvick's decision to close KHI because of the fact that Kyle Busch has won two cup titles and owns a championship calliber truck team. Just my opinion

He had a kid too. Nobody knows what his life or thought processes were at the time. Different people handle different things in their own way. It worked out for him big time in the end.
