I hope he gets a year to sit on the bench. Rookie QBs that are forced to start year one have historically not had great careers. I'd rather make sure he's as close to 100% ready than throw out our shiny new QB year one.

This was probably the best situation for McCarthy to step into. Vikings understood the board, didn’t make a crazy trade up, and keep their other first round pick. O’Connell is a very bright Offensive mind, Darnold can hold the fort down and JJ can learn, the Vikes have one of the best group of Skill position guys. He was linked to my GIANTS, but I think he is much better off in Minnesota.

People talk of darnold starting while JJ learns but you can tell listening to KOC that if they are close to even on the depth chart JJ will be starting very soon. Don't want to throw him to the wolves toI soon but every situation is diff. IMO experience is most often the best teacher. He'll learn more playing than watching

Harbaugh doesn’t need a quarterback and also he may feel it’s time for another coach to help JJ to become the quarterback he will become. Jim Harbaugh will always have a place in JJ heart and JJ will use what he learned from Harbaugh and what he will get from the Vikings together! I always wonder how these players that played together for years than they get drafted to different teams how it feels to be playing against their best buddies? Or he gets tackled by a former team mate? Football will be different this year with the new rule of tackling the new rules they have this year before you know it these guys will be playing flag football again! LOL. I pray JJ fits into his new environment and is a great witness for Christ to those that do not know Christ on that team! I pray he finds a home in a secure neighborhood and he and his fiancee have a beautiful wedding and life together! Very respectful young man! I still say my grandson could be his younger brother! Their looks and personalities match up 100%!!!

That's the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard. Harbaugh already has a top 3-5 QB. QB is the least of his worries. Why would he draft another QB? It doesn't matter what he thinks of JJ. At the end of the day, this is the NFL. You don't make an emotional decision like that. They could all fail. We've seen top 10 picks go bust ALL THE TIME. The great Trevor Lawrence is looking mediocre. The great Andrew Luck flamed out quickly. Bryce Young, who many thought had a very low ceiling, looked like a total failure. When you have a QB, you don't draft another guy in the 1st round unless that QB is disgruntled, old, injured, etc. And no, you don't trade Herbert for no reason. Franchise QBs don't grow on trees.
