I thought the same thing.. I was confused because he talked about how he was so ashamed of having a small dick that he wouldn't let the doctors take his pants off when he had a heart attack, so that didn't really make sense to me.

Sex addiction/addiction flowing into hospice..wow! I work with our senior population with stints in hospice, end of life is the height of spiritual experience. We shouldn’t dismiss the wisdom our elders provide. May all of us work to attain the gift of self-realization and peace as we near our passing from our existence here on earth 🙏🏻

Shame is integral in addiction. Shame is the feeling of being unwanted as a result of some thing a person has done or failed to do and when people feel unwanted, they act out in ways congruent with that. Recovery is counterintuitive as our first instinct is to feel shame for getting caught up in the cycles of active addiction but shame only feeds Into active addiction. Counterintuitive as it might seem, self-forgiveness and not shame is essential in recovery.

So what about someone who enables or celebrates an addiction in their partner because they like who the person is when they're high? Serious question lol.
@100Denario
@100Denario Жыл бұрын
@@dutchplanderlinde8883, people use drugs to come up on an artificial high to counteract the natural low they feel inside themselves. If someone is better liked when they are high, that just means that while self-medicated, the person is more pleasant to be around but the root cause of their issues will only get worse and their self-medication will become less and less effective over time and come with harder and harder side effects. It’s easy to see a physical wound. It is hard to see an emotional wound and in order to heal them, we have to feel them, which requires sobriety. The word “sober” stands for Son Of A Bitch Everything’s Real and a persons got to be real with themselves to heal.

🙏For any one dealing with any kind of addiction. Usually you use it as a crutch or substitute so you don't have to process any negative emotion. In my specific case pornogrophy and compulsive mastetbation is a tool to avoid the boredom and isolation of solitary lonely life. This became a gateway to seeing escorts (although i haven't done that for over a year and half) because truth be told I don't think I've ever really processed the grief after my mom passed away in 2013 or overcome a childhood fear of rejection. Hope everyone reading this finds the peace love and joy we all seek 🙏

He said “you’d make out like a bear bandit” 😂😂😂😂 That’s hysterical. I read Russell Brand’s book trying to get sober and he explained it perfectly. To put yourself in dangerous horrible situations just to have that sexual experience, regardless of what the partner looked like or how you felt about them. I don’t have that one thank God. Opiates were enough, food is another. I lean into the feel good.

I live in South East Asia and I see a lot of older basket cases. I had a friend from the UK in his 60s drank like a fish out on the piss for days. We all looked at him as an example of what not to become. He tried to get sober but relapsed many times. Now he's back in the UK. My friend she called me a grey fox I'm doing my best to stay sober. I still drink on but not like before. I was a mad drinker in Asia had to cut way back. Here its crazy you can buy a beer and a nitros balloon at an underground bar. Trying to kick that as well. I'm traveling more and when I do I drink less just if I run into some friends who are heavy drinkers. You can drink for days over here as you can always find a bar or place to drink. Its mad very easy to fall into full blown alcoholism. Also sex as there are brothels everywhere around Asia. Its crazy and cheap sex is almost like buying booze here. I'm writing a book about my experiences plus am published in a book "You're crazy volume 2." I also teach English and promote and write about underground music. I'm trying to remain sane and mostly sober over here and live to a long age. My dream is to be able to get my own book published and go on a book tour around the world telling my stories. These podcasts are a big inspiration.

I am a love addict, I went to better help therapy after a bad drunk black out that shook me up because I could off been raped. My therapist was amazing a ex addict so not just someone reading off a book. She told me I was a borderline alcoholic and a love addict I thought I was a alcoholic ( drinking since I was 11 and I thought I was a sex addict loved sex since 16 and that is legal in Scotland) she made me do a 3 month detox off everything no drinking and no sex texting or porn it was so hard But the best thing I did and now I am 42 single for 3 years and on a self love path and not looking for love or one night stands . I write poetry and sing and try play guitar and I am in control off my vices I do drink but not to get drunk just grown up social. I went to a northern soul night had 4 drinks a cola and ice water I relised can dance and enjoy music without being drunk and no anxiety depression hangovers off guilt because I can’t remember or waking up with strangers or in strange places. I feel great

I think anything you do repeatedly, whether it’s from work or fun can become addictive. It really depends on the person and why they are seeking those behaviors. I’ve seen people who enjoy their work because it gives them purpose and others who enjoy the escapism of the rest of the world. I’ve definitely been on both sides of the fence and symmetrical to what you can experience.

I'm no expert and even though I've used and continue to use weed and psychedelics for spiritual growth, here's what I think about addiction. First, I don't think I've ever been addicted to anything but I have committed destructive behaviors and I think that's really what it comes down to. Any continuous action could be called an "addiction" but I think that as long as that action doesn't lead to destructive or negative behavior for you and your loved ones then I don't see the problem with it. Some of these actions could just be seen as "taboo" or not socially acceptable in the world that you come from or live in but that doesn't make them destructive to your life. It all depends on what we personally want out of life. I'm not going to live my life according to the standards of somebody else 😆 If my actions are having a positive effect on my life and the lives of my loved ones then I think it's great. If it ever isn't then I'll adjust as I have multiple times in my life already.

Just to clarify, addiction is the uncontrollable continued behaviour without the fear of consequence that brings shame. It's much different than consciously choosing to partake in an activity that results in a net positive or a negative consequence that you learn from and choose not to do anymore. Addiction is a powerful force that compels you to do something that you know will bring shame but not being able to stop yourself from doing it.
