Erin Blanchfield is 12-1 and has won six in a row in the UFC. On Saturday at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, she faces Manon Fiorot in the main event of a show on ESPN.
Blanchfield is ranked No. 2 in the UFC's flyweight division, behind champion Alexa Grasso and former champion Valentina Shevchenko. She's also ranked No. 4 pound-for-pound.
In this interview, she discusses the origin of her nickname, "Cold Blooded," which she said was given to her by her father. She talks about the Fiorot fight, her rise in the sport and her plans for the future.
Given that Grasso and Shevchenko will fight later this year, it's uncertain when Blanchfield would get a title shot if she wins. She admitted she'll probably fight again rather than waiting for a title shot, and mentioned ex-flyweight champion Rose Namajunas as a possible opponent.
