Excelent video, just did it for both my wife's and my fob. Funnily batteries were showing healthy 3 volts, but were good for nothing amp wise (under 100 mA in brief shortcut) so obviously fit for replacement. Word of caution: my fob was dramatically dirty with dust on the outside (there is a silicon gasket sealing the electronics from the outside. Either be careful not to carry on the dirt to the very clean inside, or be ready with a soft brush. Thanks again!

Exactly. I've been looking for it for a long time and it drove me crazy. My mondeo was built on 8/27/2007 and I also have 2 pieces of this radio/remote control. These were actually used on the first Mondeos. But in an emergency situation, such as a dead battery or something similar, this key is not put in the emergency slot, but held in front of it, isn't it? Or what does your ignition lock look like? Can you put your key in there or hold it in front of it?

@@superduty4606 My ignition slot is not adapted to the small key (removed from pilot case) and the same as you, I don't know what I will do in case of emergency, I can only keep it in my hand close to ignition, nothing more.

Thanks a lot, I got a notification from my car that the key has low battery. I thought I would need to go to the dealership and let them re-program my key to work again. All I needed was a stupid CR2032 and my hands. Who would've thought!!! Many thanks again!

Hi Olivia. This is odd. Look at where the ignition should be, there is normally a round disk. Take that off and there should be a slot that the key slides into. Does the car start if you do this?

Your so right about the round disc thing. Thanks for that. Figured out what was wrong. I bought a Duracell battery. It mentioned on packaging that it had some child safety coating on it. If child puts in mouth, it tastes bitter so hope fully they spit out instead of swallowing. The instructions on the pack say do not remove this film. So I didn't. But then realised it was preventing the battery from working. I removed and the now worked perfectly. Never came across such a thing on batteries like this before. Anyways all sorted. Thanks for Ur help great to know about the cover on the ignition slot.

Hello Mathias, sorry I missed this. If the key does not work when the key battery is new, then it may need to be coded in with a computer.

Hello Adrian, it's unusual for the car to unpair after a key battery change. Did it work before you changed it? Unfortunately, the pairing is done by computer

Hi Janusz, nothing is 100% when dealing with car keys. All I can say is that over the last 10 years, I've never had to programme the key after changing the battery on this type of key.

Hello sir! I've changed the batteries on both keys...but neither keyless entry nor keyless go dit work in the first place.I touched the classic key slot(wher you insert te analog key) with the square key and the power button now worked,the sistem recognised the key.I had to do this on both keys , so that both could be recognised by the system.My problem is that I still can't make the keyless entry work(I can only lock/unlock the car with analog key)and non of the buttons on the key work(lock/unlock/open trunk)

Hi, it sounds like you're saying that the car starts with the emergency key, but not with the keyless remote keys and that you've never seen it working. Is that correct? Have you changed the key batteries? These keys are coded using a computer, so if they are still not working, you will need an Auto Locksmith, or Ford specialist to have a look for you.

I expect there's a fault with the key, maybe a switch is sticking down and running down the battery

Hi Brendan. Either the batteries are poor quality, or the key has gone faulty and is running the key battery down.

Hi, Any new key that has never worked the car before needs to be coded in using diagnostic equipment such as Etis. Although you can change the key battery easily on an existing key, a new key needs setting up properly.
