Hello Ire!!!! I've come back to say thank you. I secured a project coordinator role in London last week. I have been doing most of these things without paying attention to it. I was able to explicitly fine tune my CV based on your teachings and it got me here. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations!🎉🎉 As someone who was a Project Coordinator and recently became an IT Project Manager, my advice, please use your amazing job opportunity to keep leveling up. Learn your environment, learn from your project managers, look at the available career opportunities at you work, not forgetting professional development (keep learning). I pushed myself and became PMP Certified with my own money. I did become Microsoft Office 2019 expert using my own funds. I polished on my MS Project software, Udemy is your new BFF, I did ask PM's questions, I asked them for more access to their tasks, asked for more work and 6 months later when I realised that there was no career progression in my company, I polished my CV for the last time, I actually polished my CV as I progressed as a Project Coordinator. I then researched on KZfaq about 'Q&As on how to be a project manager and I put myself out there. It's nearly 7 weeks now managing IT Projects and it's surreal but I'm ready. Everyday is different.. Goodluck..😊

Hi Ire! I wanna say I really appreciate your videos. I came across your channel while I was trying to transition into a pm role. Apart from all the useful tips, you gave me the courage to go out there and land a job that I want. This Monday I am starting as a Project Coordinator at a US-based company. Thank you for your encouragement and please keep up the good work! Cheers from Colombia

Thank you so much Ire for another awesome video. How would you advise new project managers to come up wih low level documentation. For example, About the scenario you gave about being asked to produce say a low level project plan documentation which I believe may take hundreds of pages mostimes. What is the best strategy to do this to produce a detailed plan? Thank you
@pitolinmotion
@pitolinmotion Жыл бұрын
Hey and thank you! So that’s Not really a question I can answer in detail here. But long story short. You need to work with the team to understand what needs to be carried out to complete the project in terms of task. Start high level then break it down. Understand the dependencies and join it together. It can take s lot of time, and a lot of communication
@TriciaTheStoryteller

@@pitolinmotion Okay. Thank you, I think I get it. So, It is like the first time the project starts, the Project plan is usually a high-level document and so, as the project progresses, it gets updated with more based on what you just explained, to come up with a more low-level or detailed plan?

Hello Ire!!! Thank you so much for your videos so far, I have literally binged watched almost everything about project management. I just applied as a junior PM, even though I have done some projects in the past, I have no PM experience or technical skills. Please can you recommend a free course where I can learn PM. Thank you

Interesting, having heard high level and low level for the first time i woulda assumed high level was the more detailed one as i woulda thought 'higher' level of detail. Good to know regardless, perhaps a good way to remeber is high level for higher people in the organisation and low level for lower people in the organisation xD.

How do you effectively manage scope creep if it's already happening?
@pitolinmotion
@pitolinmotion Жыл бұрын
First of all stop it in its track. Identify the additional scope and make it known to stake holders that this is above the baseline. Then raise a CR (change request) asap to impact assess the additional scope. If it’s already being implemented you can try to impact assess retrospectively however it may not always be possible

How exactly do you avoid the scope to creep, if the stakeholders just choose to not consult u at all?
@pitolinmotion
@pitolinmotion Жыл бұрын
Well the stakeholders don’t implement anything. Your team does. So it’s imperative to stay on top of what your team is doing first and foremost. Make sure the scope is always aligned with your stakeholders via regular status reviews etc . It’s a difficult one to manage, but those are a couple ways to start

Scope creep is real. It destroys your time and burns up valuable resources. PM's do well to stay connected with everybody involved to mitigate this.

tl;dr is there an interchangeable term for minimum viable product? 7:41 . . . . . . MVP is my least favorite acronym. I was fresh out of the military, with a history of collegiate MVP sports awards as pitcher and infield softball, plus state and nationals swimming medals. I'd been working with a recruiter for 6 weeks, but he'd only gotten me one interview. His dad had just died and he kept telling me how much he didn't need a job b/c he was flush w/ inheritance; he did it to help others succeed. I finally hear back about the one interview. Basically I caught him in a lie w/ another client. He then tells me he is going to put me on the MVP list and work with his supervisor to get me more exposure. I never heard from him again.
@pitolinmotion

Hey sorry about that, kinda just sounds like a bit of a scam really: but yeah mvp is the acronym . No substitutions in this context.
