Best Key West video I have seen. Two weeks to Key West!

I just got back from 3 days in Key West, staying with a local... What an amazing trip, talking to locals as friends, or acquaintances, made it a far better experience. A huge THANKS to Shawna, Roger and Bailey, who actually live just up the road, in Sugarloaf Key... My fifth time in Key West was the best of the GREAT experiences I've had there... I hope it's not my last... But, at 66 years of age... Funny story about Shawna... She was a good friend of my half-sister Keli, who left Cottage Grove, Oregon over 30 years ago, and headed for Key West, immediately after graduating high school... Great Lady, first time I've ever met her...

was in Key West a few months ago, always wanted to go there and finally did..it's a cool place, water is beautiful Duval St is fun but don't go there for the beach unless you wear swimming shoes, it's rocky . rent a motorbike and ride around, it's fun too

Key West is such a fun town. Haven't been there in 8 years but definitely need to get back. Back in the 90s we took a vacation to the Keys every year and always had a stop down in Key West. Love the food, atmosphere, snorkeling/scuba and fishing.

I'm missing the Conch Republic being 19 degrees here in Denver right now. You did a good job of hitting the highlights. Too bad you didn't include a trip to Dry Tortugas & Fort Jefferson but to really enjoy Key West you need at least a week to sample the food, museums, & water based activities. Good to see you got to meet Kermit & make a pie the right way 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴

I love love love the Florida keys. There is totally a different vibe there. I’ve been to quite a few places on vacation in my lifetime. Sure there are prettier places on this planet to visit but, I’ve never felt so much at home as I do in the keys. I’m completely relaxed, I feel safe to tour the whole island on foot or bike. I can take a drive to Bahia Honda and enjoy the state park and it’s crystal clear waters. The local pubs and eateries are awesome and everyone is friendly. Sorry people, I don’t get those exact vibes on any other Caribbean islands or other countries. Especially when you have to have armed guards taking you on excursions.😂 other states have beautiful places like az, but there is no ocean and there are ghettos within pissing distance😬. The police in key west keep the crime very low. And the history there is awesome.

You make it sound as if Hemingway lived in the house until his death in 1961. He moved away in 1939 IIRC, and seldom ever returned. Also that complimentary guided (optional) tour of the house is part of the 16.00 entry fee. Still a bargain in Key West.

Lived in KW for more than 20 years. This is the best KW vid I've ever seen. You could have mentioned how gays transformed the dying Island in the 70's or the current gay bars. THAT would have been stepping outside of a comfort zone and would have been appropriate.

A Cuban-American icon, The San Carlos Institute located at 516 Duval Street in the heart of Key West is MUST SEE and is awesome for history! Now a FREE museum (they accept donations and I always donate), it’s a great find and arguably one of the most beautiful buildings in Key West. Cuba has a lot of tied history with the USA, especially in Key West. Here you will see artifacts, art, documents, and other historical Cuban and Cuban American pieces. Devote about 30 mins to an hour and you won’t regret it.

I lived in Key West, on the Navel Base for 2 years. Walked out the back door to the beach…….this was early 70’s. Was disappointed when I went back for a visit in 2001. They always have to ruin a good thing. 😢

This is obviously a semi-commercial video with attention given to vendors paying a fee for their recognition. The speaker quite obviously knows NOTHING except what he is reading on a script with incorrect pronunciation of several items, i.e. Bahia Honda, conch, etc. However it does give one who desires a brief introduction to the Florida Keys.

Hi turistas, Sunset Key islland is officially called Tank Island on nautical charts. It had two large oil tanks for refueling Navy ships until they gave it to the city for a park. Which did not happen. The cottage business is owned by Mike Walsh's Opal company, whose ship dock gets much profit from giant cruise ships of 3,000 passengers. The locals do NOT like massive ships docking in KW which flood Duval Street with day trippers who patronize tee shirt shops, jewelry stores, expensive cosmetic ripoff scams and there are so many of them they block traffic and do not obey the Do Not Walk traffic signals. Key Westers voted to limit the size of cruise ships but Mr Walsh paid a million dollars into Florida Governor DeSantis political fund to get him to approve a law that would overturn the citizens right to vote to control bad things happening to their cities!! Although he owns four hotels in KW and a cruise ship dock, he is bad neighbor and hurts the place that is earning his income. He punishes the lifestyles of the locals for his own profit motives. Do us a favor and stay somewhere else and teach him that his bad behavior will cost him some money ;=] Maybe then he will listen to us when we say "Get some smaller cruise ships and help the reef survive." P.s. It is not worth $700 a night, free sunsets and good chow is available anywhere else in KW ;=}
