Welcome back to keyboard! THIS is the Keyboard you've been waiting for. BAKENEKO by CannonKeys. $130 TGR X Singa Unikorn!
CannonKeys reached out with a proposal to test out a pre-launch version of the Bakeneko, a 60% O-Ring gasket mounted custom keyboard. I have always been interested in this type of mounting, and given that the TGR X Singa Unikorn is of such, I jumped at the opportunity. And am I glad I did!
This is a $130 keyboard kit, that includes a nice carrying case, an FR4 plate, hotswap pcb and an aluminum case. CannonKeys expects to keep this board in stock, and for $130, you cannot go wrong with the sound and the typing feel that this little Monster Cat can provide.
The Bakeneko is a cast aluminum and paint process, so there are some shortcomings that you may notice. I will cover all these topics in the video.
All in all, one of the best sounding and feeling keyboards I have tried as of late, and all for $130! I will also be picking a few of these up in different colors :)
BAKENEKO will be on SALE 4/21/2021 at 2PM EST! CHECK IT OUT!

The greater the demand for good entry boards, the better the engineering and production quality of them. It’s a wonderful thing to see the hobby for sure

In addition, I feel like a handful of people don't want to admit that these entries are almost on par with mid-high tier boards, just because they're labelled as "entry-level".

Idunno bout that, they sound decent or good like this one sounded really good especially for what it is, but it’s not to say the price is what it is for a reason, budget boards are great and it’s nice to see them getting waaaaaaaaaay better with better mounting styles (vs just top/tray mount) but they still have a way to go before they’re engineered as nicely as mid tier boards. But at this rate I’m excited to see how far they can make these budget options go. Maybe it’ll push higher end boards to really step it up or their products will become more of a niche item than they already are

@@gwu08 Ehhh, sound is not the only thing that makes a mid-high tier boards, most of them are premium because of the aesthetics, QA, the anodization finish, thea dded flair (aka internal and external weights that you dont really see), and rarity. At those price points, people are buying them not for the "perceived" performance only but more so on the the artisinal quality of the product. Having good entry level is good for the hobby but I wont go on about and say that these are "on par" with those boards because at the mid-to-high end of this hobby, people are basically collecting and flexing endgames.

Sometimes it looks more of a light baby blue and other times it looks more teal. I'm thinking it is probably because of the variation in white balance. But what would you say it looks like in-person. Hey Keybored, I want to build this bakenenko and i had a question about how to dampen the board. I see that you used zip-in-fit in this video, but I also saw that you said polyfill would be better for the o-ring mounting style in your freebird tkl video. So I was wondering whether or not you ended up using zip-in-fit and the polyfill or just the polyfill by itself?

So you guys need to tell me. To be honest I would have bought this instantly if it was a 65%.

Hi owner of this channel. I’m currently looking for a 60% board because I’m currently using a TKL custom build for the meantime but I’m planning to build another one. I’m currently looking at Alu GK61 or the tofu 65 (which is hard to find in the country I’m in) but bakeneko60 seems to be out of stock. Can you recommend a build that won’t cost $200? Mainly used for work anyways. Thanks
@Keybored
@Keybored 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, it would all depend on preference! If you want the best possible sound and feel, the bakeneko (once it becomes available) would be hands down winner. If you want something more traditional, with additional features like rgb, etc., then both the GK61 and the tofu will provide that. However, the tofu series is south facing switch, which means it gives you more options to try out different switches with cherry keycaps!
