You are making a great job with this series, DaVinci Resolve need more basic tutorials to help people switch from anything else, basically. It is the ultimate multiplatform video production app. And studio version is not brutally expensive, and hopefully stays like this and not become a subscription base.

Totally agree. With every one of these, I get more advanced users telling me "You forgot to mention blah, blah, blah!!" and that's exactly the kind of stuff that confuses most new users. The need to mention every possibility along the way instead of just showing people some basics and keeping it SIMPLE.

@@Daniel_Batal An excellent introduction to key frames in this software. Thank you. Also, keeping it simple is best. My father, as a photographer, always stressed that simplicity, rather than complexity, is the goal. Your tutorial was to the point, very understandable, and really taught as much as any editor using key frames needs to know (personally, a LumaFusion user but stepping into the DaVinci world thanks to a Sigma fp camera!).

One very useful tip when keyframing - you can right-click your keyframe dot in the Inspector panel to change the keyframe from linear to Ease In, Easy In/Out & Ease Out! You can also do this from the keyframe view on the timeline and get more advanced but doing it from the Inspector panel is fast & easy when you only need to slightly tweak the motion to be less harsh. I discovered your channel only recently, but I've been delving deep into your catalog of content and have been enjoying it very much so far. I picked up DaVinci Resolve last summer after having used Premiere Pro for almost a decade, and I'm incredibly glad to have made the switch. Seeing you cover DaVinci Resolve is great because you're really good at explaining things, and putting more eyes onto a great piece of software is always good!
@Daniel_Batal

The wave feature in the bottom of each clip actually allows you to control the keyframe interpolation behavior with a little more accuracy. I didn't want to touch any of that for obvious reasons. Explaining keyframe interpolation behavior to anyone in a video trying to just get them started is exactly what I don't like about every other DaVinci Resolve video I see on KZfaq.

An excellent short video on explaining keyframing which others fail to do as they overly complicate it. My only criticism is the use of the term 'dot' when in fact it should be 'diamond' when referring to the keyframing icon. Looking forward to further tutorials.
@Daniel_Batal
@Daniel_Batal Жыл бұрын
Ha! You did exactly what I hate about Resolve tutorials on KZfaq, you overcomplicated a conversation by using words people can't relate to. The shape of the keyframe feature is a diamond shape in the color page and it's a dot in the media page (where I was working from) So... it's a dot. Because real people know what a dot looks like and what a diamond looks like. Here's the good thing, these videos tank my channel and I am only doing them to help folks who are petrified of Resolve. You won't have to suffer with my dots for long 😜
@seanswilson
@seanswilson Жыл бұрын
@@Daniel_Batal sorry, but I was trying to be offensive, and yes, people will know the difference between a dot and a diamond. However, the vast majority of your references to the keyframe icon were in the Inspector window (which you zoomed into both in the Video and Audio tabs), and in that area it's a diamond (as opposed to the red dots next to Transform, Cropping, etc). That was the only reason for mentioning it. I did notice that in the audio timeline it was a dot.

You can click that diamond on the lower right of the clip in the timeline and it’ll show you all of those keyframes. I think I showed them in the curve window

I just discovered your channel and subscribed immediately. I used to some video editing many years ago (early 2000s), and recently decided to get back into it. Much to my surprise, the software I used has gone subscription based so I've been searching for a more affordable alternative, and Davinci is what I chose. This is the best explanation of keyframe use I've ever seen. Your videos are really helping me adjust to the learning curve. Thank you so very much!

Dude, your instructional videos are excellent! Your knowledge of the software and eye for editing are certainly impressive, but what I find particularly refreshing is the level of your communication skills. It stands out as something I don't encounter that readily.

Hi Daniel. I just come across your channel the other day and I just want to tell you that your videos help me with my confidence. My wife started posting videos on KZfaq of our bounce house rental company we started last year.We are getting closer to 1000 sub and now I want to start editing and making the videos myself. It’s very overwhelming but I’ve always been good at everything I’ve tried to do in my life. I just wanted to say thanks.

Very helpful. I’ve used key frames but felt I was sort of shooting in the dark. This clears it up very well. Thanks!!
