This is a good video. A lot of people have the wrong idea of it all being in the wrist and releasing in the form of a handshake. Really it's just clearing the thumb and turning the middle and ring fingers. This has helped me to get maximum rotations out of my ball.

Just got back into bowling 1994 last league. Was 200 avg bowler. I tried this release last night and it worked very well. I still "short arm" some of my strike shots. Your video added to my comeback knowledge thanks

I"m a complete beginner. I didn't know you only move the fingers 2 inches to hook the ball. Thanks for the tip.

@tiatrips its never a bad time to learn in sports. you can always get better. I work at a bowling alley and I love sitting in with the kids on our saturday morning league and listening to the wisdom of the coaches on the beginner stuff; it can be very helpful.

0:36 The release by flicking the fingers, will generate higher RPMs and more consistent ball motion as opposed to coming off the side.

The money shot works for me. My avg is about 175-180. I like this release because it is simple and it goes with my stroker style. I think some would say the drawback is that I track over my finger and thumbs holes a lot, though.

@DJXRyde I'm at 16 mph, rounded down. I usually have to throw it around that speed for the purpose of getting it down the lane. But I have a natural hook so I use that to my advantage.

using two fingers would mean you're a two handed bowler, in replacement of the thumb, you would use the opposite hand to hold the ball in place until you release, and follow through, if you do not use a second hand to hold it, your ball would typically be loose and move around allowing an inconsistent throw

This is sometimes true. In this case it's not. This man is Fred Bordon, pretty dang good bowler still and probably the best coach in the game. Who else would you get to coach Team USA. ; ) Yes, Team USA.

This guy is teaching stuff from the seventies! "shake hands with the pins". That type of release really won't give you that big hook your looking for. Stay underneath the ball and pull up.

true...old way of teaching...yet its the easiest one to learn. The modern release is about impossible. Very hard to do. Probably only 5 to 10 % of all bowlers can accomplish the yo yo release.

These are the Basic Fundamentals. Not teaching cranker hi rev release here. If you can do that great for you. You've grown beyond the basics. But doesn't make this any less true for the 90% out there that do it for fun and just want to improve consistency!

@tiatrips I dunno...is 16 mph good for you? lmao. I throw like 21 average, with no hook tho. Trying to hook has got me messed up...I'd rather just toss it fast n straight. LMAO And about this video...the title - is epic. LMAO.
