You just have to change how it is you generate force in your body. Instead of relying on your push off or cycling the legs quickly, the best athletes generate most of their speed by generating power from their hips and feet. Because there is not enough range of motion if you are straight up and down with the legs and feet. More lateral movement at the start creates. More range in the hip, spine and knees to help the stretch shortening cycle..
