My God I can't stop crying 😢😢😢, I have been with my wife for 43yrs now. I remember the first time I saw her when she walked out of her aunt's front door. And at that very moment, it was if time had stopped. It was a bright sunny day, and I could swear the birds stopped chirping. At that very second in time I knew she was the one for me. And 43yrs later, 3 son's and 3 grandkids later I still look at her like it is the first time all over again..

You’re right! There are some racial stereotypes the end up being true on an individual basis. That is not racism. However, disliking a person solely on the basis of skin color with disregard for good character IS racism. I experienced this kind of racism in my teens. A blessing in disguise. Never married until 35. I feel extreme sorrow for this poor couple who should have never experienced this pain! They are PRECIOUS.

I served as a Chaplain in several nursing homes, and sadly, residents not having any visitors for 10 years...or more...sometimes never...is not uncommon. Sadly, that is far too common. Nursing homes in the US are just 'warehouses for humans', and most of the time, the residents are not treated well by the staff, either.

What a great story! I was once a young soldier trying to recover from being badly injured overseas. I met a young college girl at a local restaurant and we were attracted to each other. She was from a rich affluent family. Our relationship lasted 4 years. Then under great pressure from her mother, she sadly ended our relationship. We stayed in phone contact over the years as friends after that. We lived completely different kinds of lives. We once had a love, and it was a gas! But it was all in the past. Amazing what love means to us. Congratulations to a reunited couple. I wish y'all good times.

We don't know what happened. Some people bring it on themselves, and some people just don't know some of their aunts/uncles like that. For me and my uncle, it's a combination of both. I had an uncle whom I hadn't seen since I was a young teen. My dad was always the one initiating hanging out with his brother, but then my dad had a major stroke that severely disabled him for the rest of his life. His twin brother (my uncle) never came to visit him, so I never saw my uncle ever again after my dad's stroke. Eventually, my uncle went to live in a nursing home, and died. It never occurred to me to visit my uncle in the nursing home because I hadn't seen him since I was a teen, and he had abandoned my dad - his twin. When my uncle died, I didn't know him anymore. I don't regret not visiting. It's just the way the world turned, and my uncle hadn't made an effort to connect with any of us (his nieces/nephew) or my dad once my dad could no longer get out of the house. Sorry, but no, he didn't deserve a visit from me just because I was his niece. People don't suddenly become innocent angels when they become ill/disabled. I'm not going to assume anything about this man and why he hasn't had visitors in so long, but people also shouldn't assume anything about why his niece hasn't visited either.

*As an Asian, I've often wondered why, in the West, when the elderly become frail, their children often opt to place them in care homes.*

@@RodneyKimbangu , we, asian, we care our elderly parents to the very end. You can ask any Asian nearby to confirm. LOL

The west is divided and focuses on individualism instead of nuclear/strong families. The USA is about me me me me and more me mentality. Don’t get me wrong there’s elderly people who want socialization and want to go to a nursing home or sometimes families can’t afford to take care of them. Asia used to be this way too but in the last recent years it has changed drastically where young people don’t want to take care of their elderly parents/grandparents, so many end up homeless, abandoned or in worse situations in a gr@v3.

What a beautiful love story! So sad that he was in that care home for 10 years and no one visited him and finally somebody sends him a letter and no one helps him wright back! And no one helps him talk to her on the phone. Very sad that none of the staff took any interest in helping this man.

Beautiful story coverage! Much better than CBS. Thank you sharing Stephen's journey as well and showing him in a positive light instead of some homeless man that fell on hard times. These 2 people were both successful in there own right and life took them in separate directions until God brought them back together. Great story KGW

Man, I feel bad for Steve. He was pretty much lonely for years with a lot of bad luck. I wonder what would have happened to him if they didn't break up. He probably wouldn't have gotten those strokes. That's what I think, though. I don’t know how it feels to love.

Maybe he would not have had them or maybe they were genetic and bound to happen no matter what. She should have stood up to her family and they would have had 42 yrs together. But what they have now it's more than what many have. Many are going to stay single because of many different issues. I wonder about the future of our society 😢

sometimes when you love a woman you love her for life. no other "pretty young thing" would ever compare. also, a lot of people have full lives and even kids but still end up in homes with no visitors. just because kids or wife doesn't mean they love you or are still alive to take care of you. just some food for thought. all humans are unique and have different experiences... this is normal. tragic sometimes, but still normal.
