I was just saying in general that the presumption of innocence for legal purposes obviously doesn't mean someone is actually innocent. People who very definitely 'did it' are still presumed innocent until tried, though if you are held without bail then really that's not even true. So it's more of a popular concept than a reality.

Michael was incredibly kind to children and everyone that knew him personally defended him, there is no way he did it, according to them. I'm more inclined to believe them than his accuser, especially when Corey Feldman, a well known survivor of childhood trauma, says there is no way MJ did anything.

From what I can tell, no libel or slander suits were filed, so either there wasn't evidence enough of damages to MJ's character, or there was and it wasn't worth it. However, were you to call me an alleged sex offender, and it had a meaningful impact on my life (especially since I am not financially independent or wealthy enough to shrug off such accusations), I would care, and you'd inevitably care when it gets litigious.
