In this episode of the Aleph Podcast, we had the privilege and pleasure of hosting the very talented, veteran musician, bassist, singer, composer and music producer, Khalid Khan. The unplugged conversation explores Khalid's rich and eclectic journey in the Pakistani music industry.
Khalid Khan started his music career as the lead vocalist of the band Life Sketches [sic] in the early 90s, before picking up the bass guitar in 1995.
From Collage to Circle, from Mizraab to Aaroh, from Life Sketches to Pepsi Battle of the Bands, one of Pakistan's most underrated musicians, Khalid Khan is one of the pioneers of the thriving Pakistani pop rock music scene of the 90s.
Khalid Khan has been active in the industry for over three decades now. He is known to be one of those few musicians who has played with all of the top music players of the Pakistani music industry, including Aamir Zaki, Faraz Anwar (Life Sketches, Collage, Mizraab, Dusk, Sounds of Kolachi), Adnan Afaq (Arsh, Circle), Schehzad Mughal (The Final Cut), Gumby (Noori, Raahi), Omran Shafique (Opre', Mauj, Kostal, Raahi), Yatagaan (Fakhar-e-Alam), Najam Sheraz (Wet Metal, Karavan) and many more.
He has also been a session player for many prominent artists of the Pakistani music scene, such as Fuzon, Strings and Coke Studio Pakistan. He also released a few jingles for TVCs and composed the OST for the drama serial "Mera Aashiyana" featuring the vocals of Momin Durrani.

Khalid Khan was such an integral part of hugely influential Pakistani rock bands that were the soundtracks to many growing up in the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s and has played sonorous basslines on so many iconic Pakistani rock classics. What an incredible bass player. By all accounts a really genuine, cool guy too.

An excellent podcast with Khalid Khan. I watched it straight through. *Thank you for giving him the complete space and canvas to express and articulate his music journey with such intellectual lucidity and erudite enthusiasm.* Three new takeaways for me: 1. Khalid Khan has been friends with Tanseer Daar (Arsh/Circle/Karavan) since he was 5/6 years old. They grew up together as neighbours. 2. He has played bass on a couple of Karavan songs. It must be from the Saara Jahaan album recording sessions. I have never ever been able to get my hands on the CD or cassette of the Saara Jahaan album. 3. He also explains why he kept uploading/deleting the video of his solo single *"Hai Nahin Teray Jaisa"* on KZfaq. I always wondered why he kept doing that. It all makes sense now.

Its lovely to hear this inspiring story of a musician who has worked with so many great bands singers and musicians who were the real architects of the golden era of pakistani pop and rock music from 90s. And its great to see khalid bhai still carrying on in his music career with the same passion as ever. I would like to know if there is any youtube channel of khalid khan where we can access all of his compositions.

Umair. I must say you are a very good listener and for such soft spoken person it was needed. man our whole music journey, the band's, the artists we listened through out our lives this guy was around and part of all that music . and yet we never knew anything about it. I don't think any body has ever taken such an interview of him.. in this 2 hour show I didn't skipped a part infact few parts I went back some minutes to listen that part again.. a very much needed session. Maza aaya

I really wanted to listen the other side of story about Aaroh, I have been a biggest fan of Pakistani music specially rock scene, I did music for sometimes but due to same reasons we couldn't continue, and then I left doing music, but I had 60GB+ data of Pakistani underground music and rock music, I knew everything by following stories, and that Nabeel said in his podcast was not correct, he told his side of story, but that makes me think that Aaroh mostly sound same in their 2nd album then how come this genre story can be true. but these fights and ego issues hurt Pakistani music alot and ultimately fans like us were hurt.
