This video is sooooo inspiring! I was actually one of those people he described who thought they had questions about Islam but were in fact questioning Islam. And I realised that once you stop questioning, the questions get perfectly solved one by on. Truly you have to show your sincerity first, and then allah will guide you. And that guidance is beyond your imagination. I pray to Allah to make us from those who have questions and strengthen our Imaan as a result instead of those who question and get lost. Ameen.

@TheMongol1206 Nouman pretty much explained it, Well, Islam means submitting your will to Allah. Thus, Muslims acknowledge that Allah is All-knowing and watever He forbids He must have a reason to do so. Questioning WHY something is forbidden is not wrong when you are intending to gain wisdom behind it. It is actually encouraged. But in the end, as a human we might get the wisdom or we might not. But problems arise when the attitude is more towards questioning (as in doubting) Islam and Allah.

Assalamu Aleikum akhi. He mentioned an absolutely wonderful lecture series given by Imam Anwar Al Awlaki. It is called, "The Hereafter". Go to Google and type in "Kalamullah The Hereafter Anwar Al Awlaki" and it should be the first link to show up in the search. Then, scroll down the page and you will find this amazing lecture here. Then sit back and enjoy akhi. Salaam

as a matter of fact if anyone really sat there and thought about it and analyzed history and imperialism and colonialism and the shifting of powers. i'm pretty confidence that most of teh worlds problems are either a product of or perpetuated by your "civilized" society and all its "progress" through the ages.

Before people judge me I want to make clear that I am a Agnostic...therefor I will always look for answers. Raised as a Muslim but I don't feel like I can call myself that. For the simple reason that I have always had doubt on my mind. What I find disturbing is when people are afraid to say "I don't know!"...let's say Allah exist. He gave all of us the ability to think for ourselves, be critical and ask questions. That when you learn something. So Allah wants us to be critical and ask question but not when it comes to religion? I should take the word written down by men? I acknowledge that the Quran is a beautiful book with amazing verses that can mesmerize...but back in the day it was not unusual. Arabia had some amazing poets and storytellers. If that's the best proof you got... If god is as powerful as the religious people (Christians, Jews and Muslims) claim he is...why does he need messengers and prophets? He can do everything, right? Then why give us signs and holy books that date 2000 to 1600 years? This is the worst communication ever. The almighty should be able to give us all a clear message and then a lot of problem would disappear. People would refocus on the meaning of life and try to live in harmony. It should not be this hard to proof your god. Allah is a contradiction. He made men to worship him? But he wants as to be humble? Making people so they can worship you is the next level of ego. Allah made mass murderers like Hitler and Stalin. Racist pigs and fascist like Mussolini....the list goes on and on. Allah knows everything before it happens he tells us...he knew that they would do bad but he still made them a put them amongst us. That might be worst the the deed itself. If god was measured like men in judgement day...he wouldn't make it. Vain is the worst he tells us but then made us to worship him...please The speaker is a intelligent man..A scholar and former atheist. I came here looking for answers but I am disappointed to be honest. People say god is perfect. I don't see it. Nature is beautiful but the people are in pain. Children die of AIDS, disaster like tsunami, war based on ground and religion, the rich controlling the poor...animal cruelty, hatred, discrimination... Maybe god is real and he will judge me for this post....I don't know. If he does exist he should rethink his plans. You can't judge people like this.

well linguistics is concerned with the arabic language and the use of words and phrases with powerful yet subtle and utterly significant meanings. the intellectual challenges to society are, for example, concerned with offering the argument of the qur'ans unique impact or the solutions it proposes to problems societies are still struggling with inspite of their "progress."

This is the reason why some of the scholars frown upon the concept of maqasid, because there is no way we as Muslims can know the reason/wisdom behind legislation etc.

what spel17 is implying is that it does make perfect sense in classical arabic because it is not saying what you think it is. if you can't see the relevance in understanding the classical arabic language, then you are hopelessly lost in emotions and the need to be right and you shouldn't think of yourself as a reasonable or of any intellectual significance. denying that makes you a die-hard, fanatic, fundamentalist, radical, intellectually stagnant believer in your own way of life.

Allah talah knows everything no doubt about it. Allah talah is testing us to see who will strive to please him and enter paradise, so we have to work hard to go to jannah we cant just leave to Allah saying he has decreed everything before, we have to strive every day for it, Dua is important, we have to make dua to Allah for jannah, we have/should to seek refuge in Allah from hell fire and punishment of grave. May Allah save all of us from hell fire. Ameen. No one enters jannah but by his mercy.

you do realize this lecture is aimed at people who have already accepted the prophethood of this man muhammad (peace be upon him). there is absolutely no presentation of any arguments in this video that are meant to convince anyone of this persons prophethood. this is the reason he tells us (the people who have accepted) that we must direct questioning back to whether or not the qur'an is God's word...and from there he tells us to tell the questioner "let's talk."

The essential argument is to say that we have to accept hearsay evidence. Reports of someone performing miracles are not the same as seeing them for oneself. Would this lecturer permit questioning L. Ron Hubbard? Of course he would. He just wants to shield his preferred version of the ... whatever it is. I hesitate to use the word "truth." I question whether or not Joseph Smith communicated with the angel Moroni. I'll bet this person would agree that's correct, but he won't extent the logic.

all muslims who do not speak arabic are, with respect to interpretation of the qur'an, people who can never push an interpretation with any authority and can only humbly suggest the interpretation of someone learned in classical arabic.

the miracle of islam used as evidence of its position is not something that was observed generations ago and left to hearsay. the main miracle of islam is the qur'an itself which is meant to be an intellectual/linguistic miracle. one that is preserved and observable for all following generations.

is it? ok let me break it down again...this lecture is telling people who have already believed that when people go off on tangents and ask other questions...you bring them back to the central question. THIS LECTURE DOES NOT GO INTO THE ANSWER FOR THAT QUESTION as it is another topic and meant for a different audience (ppl that haven't believed yet or that are trying to convince those who haven't believed). do you get it now?

nouman everytime someone questioned the prophet about having sex with 6year old,or beheading men in front of there wives and daughters,he would then say allah said "oh do not question muhammad, its not allowed",every single time this happens,if someone says sth or does sth bad against muhammad he then comes up with another "word or words of god or the angels, your very clever nouman, why cant you see muhammads promises are everything his followers did not have and wanted,boys,girls,water,fruit..

ok...and? is that it? are you trying to say that we don't come up with these things before hand? is the qur'an a book of science? does it even pretend to provide detailed explanations of the mechanisms that make this world work? no. the qur'an is concerned with a way of life that is more civilized than the way of life you subscribe to. it makes references in passing that when reflected on after scientific discovery (much of which is islamic and not western) are interesting to say the least.

cutting off of hands and feet and stoning are wrong? which muslim would say that these things are wrong? killing in warfare is not the same as murder or in the name of justice obviously, nations all over the world including america are involved in these things. you would have to provide references for what you are saying because, for example, the qur'an says the moon gives off reflected light (not its own). its clear you are misinformed.

"you may read western science books but your no scientist, you could never be, in science evidence comes first then the theory, you think if you hold an opinion strongly enough it becomes true." what on earth are you talking about and how does it pertain to the second half of your comment? you keep jumping between subjective emotions and science. i think you might be talking about a statistic mentioned in a review book for medicine, in which case i'm sorry the stats are shattering your bubble.

oh you think with your head...yet you haven't given me objective criteria for measuring "civilized." all you've given me is words like "primitive" and "modern." so i'm guessing your new system of law has eliminated crime rite? has it helped the humanity with things like poverty...because sharia law prohibits interest and enforces zakat (a tax used in charity) which allows a redistribution of wealth to the poor. i dunno, but all i hear is gut feelings...
