This is a great speech and I really want to cry from it because I haven't been a very good servant to Allah myself =( hopefully I can change that before it's too late. As I read somewhere, God loves those who repent, but He loves more those who repent who are still young :)

@dali403 it is surah Al-Jumu'ah (62) the whole surah. Brother Nouman's syarah on the first two ayats amazes me. I used to think that there's no connections between the ayats with asmaul-husna and the next ayat. but subhanallah... the connections are so "strong" (i couldn't find a better word) you can't even take a word out of it. Jazaak-Allah. May Allah bless this man Nouman Ali Khan.

"derive purpose and attribute cause" is why you feel others believe. God gives everything we have, only some appreciate and acknowledge God and others don't. Just because someone doesn't believe in God doesn't mean God will take it away from them. God gives so that, per chance, people may be appreciative. If He chooses to He can take it away too. Some kids never see their father. Others are born deformed... God does what He wills and He says you will be tested in one form or another.

No, God doesn't need you or I to prostrate to Him. A need arises when there is a shortage. God has no shortages. The seas, sun, moon, trees, atoms, electrons all follow the Lords commands as they were created by Him . We prostrate because we 1. we acknowledge His majesty. 2. we are grateful for all He provides. 3.we seek forgiveness by humbling ourselves to the Lord. 4. we seek guidance by asking the Lord for guidance, etc etc. In short, we don't prostrate because He needs it. We need it.

For the Lord is the right balance of respect, love and fear. If the Lord wanted you to shiver in fear He could quite easily have done that. People who believe actually enjoy praying to their Lord, and await when the next prayer is.

Your logic and rational is most welcoming. In fact I will also ask this, but what comes to mind from learning is that he did reluctantly practice this act. The daughter also wiped off the sand that fell on him. It was a process of change. Didn't do that to Hafsah or any one else again.

I didn't say you should believe in God because He is so eloquently described. Nor do people believe in God to explain who we are, why we are here, etc. God isn't hiding at all. God is pure, and if you want to find Him, He asks people to purify themselves first. Almighty Allah gives people most things they need, so that they maybe grateful. Most are not willing to come out of a life of alcohol, fornication etc. How do they expect to find Allah?

If creation was/is Gods will, why do you want/expect to me to say anything else? I came into Islam after being an Atheist most of my life, and after over 7 years of research into the Holy Quran and Prophet Muhammad' (may peace be upon him) study. I pray to Almighty Allah that He guides you in the right path, sooner rather than later.

I can analyse a piece of paper to such a degree that I can eventually relate the fibres of the paper to the tree in the forest. It makes me a bit knowledgeable (and God enabled this knowledge) about how paper is created assuming I had no knowledge of it beforehand. Just because I can explain how clouds form and how the water cycle works doesn't make God any less relevant here. All of what God gives if for His creation. This is why Muslims prostrate to the Almighty God.

Humans are God's most cherished of all of creations. More prized that any of the galaxies, etc.. The only thing that He has given a will and capacity to think for itself in a human being. No other animal comes even close to the intellect of the human being. When this creation prostrates, it is NOT a feeble gesture. It becomes a feeble gesture if you think human are lumps of meat just like cats and dogs. It is because people think like this, that the majority of humans behave like animals too.

All of it requires God to work it. You mentioned laws of nature. These so called laws of thermodynamics, motion, gravity that we seem to have deciphered are purely God given, both the fact itself, and our ability to find these things out. About the Earth's rotation around the Sun, Almighty Allah says 1400 years ago: ""It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit" 36:40. I could go on...

Maybe I never did understand evolution, even after a PhD in in Molecular Genetics. I have asked myself enough of the questions I needed to ask. God's existence is clear, and always was. It's me who was blind and perhaps stupid not to see what was right in front of me, nor acknowledge the reason for the very beat of my heart.

Deafness is when man doesn't listen to what he needs to listen of the Lord. Dumbness is when he is unable or refuses to comprehend the Lord. Blindness is when he is unable to see the Majesty of his Lord. Allah says of such people, "In their hearts is a disease, and Allah increases their disease. A painful doom is theirs because they lie." Quran 2:10

So Great is the Lord that we bow to Him 5 times a day. I think you (like most I guess) already have a concept of a God based on your own ideas/ upbringing and are unwilling to let go of these preconceived ideas, and try and understand who this Almighty Lord is. God is not hiding. More likely, you fall into the category that Allah calls "Deaf, dumb and blind; and they return not." Quran 2:18 All praises are to the Allah, the Lord of the Alameen.

Just because you think you manage to explain some of nature through words such as quantum physics, biology or chemistry (maybe some of the explanations are correct even) doesn't mean God doesn't exist. God gave you an intellect like no other creature on the planet hence we're able to contemplate. He created the universe, planets, stars for us so that we can attest to His majesty. He gave you and I what little we know. He also gives guidance to whom He wills.

That quote doesn't mean or describe anything. So. Name one thing in nature that can not happen without god. Anything. Name it. Very simple. Name a single process in nature that requires god to make it work.

So what is the purpose of all this prostrating and attesting to his majesty? If he has created all this, surly he doesn't need our feeble little gestures. What makes you think he cares the least whit about what we do or say or think? Is there any sign that he does? Other than what you may imagine in between your ears or the tightness in your chest from fear?

You may think by replacing a faulty gene with a healthy copy by DNA manipulation to show that it is not God who controls it. But it is entirely in the 'hands' of God. It is Allah who gave people knowledge to be able to do what they do. Whether child after gene therapy will be born in entirely Allah's will too.

Being able to explain the workings of the universe and seeing that NONE of it requires a god to work, makes god irrelevant.

What do you mean by "established need?" If you are referring to the likes of Dawkins, they haven't really established anything... I don't think people believe in God because its about a need for God to exist. That itself is an abstract thought. I come from an Atheist background. God exists - and is eloquently described in the Quran. Substantiate to me why He, the Almighty Allah, doesn't or cannot exist?
@TomHail
@TomHail 14 жыл бұрын
Have you any concept of how big the universe is measured to be? We are a thin organic film on an insignificant world going around one sun of billions in a galaxy that is just one of billions in the universe so vast that it takes light billions of years to travel just a small part of it. He created all of that so we can marvel at him? You seriously believe that? You should seriously question that belief.

There is a group that hang on to theories, such that they consider themselves the more "intellectual" amongst us..The reason Darwin stopped going to church was because the religion he supposedly followed,was false. This "how can such a mighty God exist" is what troubles most of you guys. God would not exist if He wasn't more almighty than you or I can ever imagine. God is pure, cleanse yourself, shed doubts, and be sincere- perhaps you may find Him. It is up to the Lord Himself, of course.
@tube2a
@tube2a 14 жыл бұрын
Proof comes also with having reason to believe. There is no established need for there to be a god, no proof, no nothing, so it is thus unreasonable to believe in such an abstract entity.
@TomHail
@TomHail 14 жыл бұрын
You just agreed with me. "God gives so that, per chance, people may be appreciative. If He chooses to He can take it away too." That is attributing cause to god. Why was this child deformed? God willed it. Those are your words. A cosmic ray damaging a gene somewhere in the embryo at the wrong moment without intent, randomly isn't considered, nope god did it so we can fear and or appreciate him. Why would anyone want to believe this? Why does this make any kind of sense to anyone?
@TomHail
@TomHail 14 жыл бұрын
There is no need for a god to exist to explain who we are, why we are here, etc. God is unnecessary in this universe, in our lives. So, he needs to show himself if he exists. So what if he is eloquently described in the Quran, that doesn't mean he exists. Eloquent prose is only eloquent prose. It isn't evidence. Why god created a universe where he is unnecessary and then hides is pretty senseless. More likely, he doesn't exist at all.

Did Umar radhiallahu anhu really buried a daughter of his? Or is this a shiite version of his biography? If he really was one of those who buried their daughters alive, then where did Ummul Mu'minin Hafsah radhiallahu anha come from? Why did he not bury her alive when she was born before the mission of Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wassalam started? Umar radhiallahu anhu most, most, most probably did not practice the jahiliyyah act of female infanticide.

Same and one and only God(Allah same and only Jesus(isa) and same and only love. Muslims do not praise Jesus as God because it is not what Jesus preached. We respect Isa(Jesus) as a great prophet. Remember the first commandment which Jesus (Peace be Upon Him) asked us to follow. Think about it and you are on your way to peace and joy. Pray straight to our Creator and creator of Isa. Peace to always.

Jesus (pbuh) is no son to anyone but Mary (pbuh). He is the creation of God Almighty. When I realised that I became a muslim Alhumdullila, (thank God) Maybe it's time you open your eyes, God has no need for a son he is far greater than that.
@TomHail

Of course people believe in god because they derive purpose and attribute cause from that belief. That is the only reason religion exists. God doesn't give anybody anything. We all work for what we have. He is hiding if only the select can see him. That is the definition of hiding. I have a life of love, community, hard work, and honor. Where is god? No sign of him. I have to grovel and beg to see him? Sorry, that is hiding. More likely he doesn't exist.
@TomHail
@TomHail 14 жыл бұрын
Very good! You changed your mind once, you can do it again! You just need time and thought to realize the god theory doesn't make sense. To attribute all to god's will without question can't be very satisfying. Worshiping something that refuses to make it's existence clear will cause doubts. You obviously don't have a complete understanding about evolution and it's real simplicity and power, look into it. Don't get left behind by the rest of the world because you cling to medieval ideas.
