Correct. The Democrat party is the party of real discrimination, racism, destruction, death, and evil. Note historical facts below: Democrat judges (7) sought to deny blacks the right of US citizenship and thus constitutional protections following the civil war. The two dissenting justices were Republican. See Dredd Scott decision. Democrats created the Ku Klux Klan to control and intimidate blacks. Democrats started lynching Blacks. Democrats started the civil war to retain their slaves and slavery as an institution. Democrat legislators denied blacks the right to vote, but wanted their slaves counted for greater legislative representation, to continue and ensure slavery in perpetuity. Democrats denied blacks the right to own guns (so KKK intimidation would be more effective). Footnote: White Republican militias were formed to oppose and fight the KKK to protect blacks. Democrats lawmakers crafted “Jim Crow” laws to separate blacks from whites, and to limit black businesses and black prosperity. Democrat Bull Connor, Alabama Commissioner of Safety, unleashed police dogs and fire hoses against “uppity” blacks during actually peaceful protests (unlike BLM ‘peaceful’ protests that burn down businesses and result in looting). Bull Connor was on the DNC. Democrats implemented the welfare state and government dependence which lead to the destruction of the family unit (think ‘baby mommas’ and the dramatic rise of the single parent family, especially amongst blacks). Democrats resisted the Equal Rights Act and Equal Rights Amendment. Democrats support Planned Parenthood founded by Margaret Sanger who described blacks as “human weeds”, which is why they are prevalent in black communities. The Republican Party was founded specifically to end slavery in the U.S. At the time of the civil war, no Republicans owned slaves. All slave owners were Democrats. The most violent, economically depressed, and worst run cities in the nation are run by Democrats; their cities have the highest crime rates and the lowest educational standards. Democrats lie about this country and claim we are a democracy only to push their illicit party; we are and always have been a Constitutional Republic (does this help narrow down the only true American political party?). The word ‘democracy’ does not appear in the US Constitution, the Bill of Rights, or the Declaration of Independence at all. The founding fathers warned of the dangers of ‘democracy’ in their personal letters (pls figure out why; it’s very simple). The Democrat party abandoned the Republic long ago (look up their original name) to push their fallacy. Following his victory in the civil war against pro-slave Democrats, Republican President Lincoln freed all slaves. He was thus subsequently assassinated by a Democrat (note that even long ago, Democrats began resorting to violence). Lincoln was succeeded by his VP, a Democrat who opposed the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments (abolishing slavery, giving blacks citizenship, giving blacks voting rights). These Amendments passed only because of universal support by Republicans. The 19th Amendment granting the right to vote for women was opposed by Democrats four times and only passed when Republicans finally gained a majority in Congress. Called the ‘Susan B Anthony Amendment’, its namesake was arrested for voting. Her voting choices: all Republicans running for office. During each election cycle, Democrats have to raise more money and spend more because it takes a lot to overcome common sense, over-ride principles, supersede moral values, and to push false narratives. Democrats have denigrated the role of religion in society. Democrats break the 10 Commandments: they are the first to shout “racist” as a way of shutting down opposition (by bearing false witness against their neighbors). Democrats slander and produce false witnesses against persons of opposing political views (see Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh nominations, and media coverage of Trump’s first term). Democrats stopped “The Pledge of Allegiance” from being recited in schools. Republican President Dwight Eisenhower introduced the Civil Rights Bill in 1957; not a single Republican Senator opposed it; 18 Democrats (including Lyndon Johnson) opposed it via filibuster. The first Black members of Congress were all Republican. All 23 of them. Col. Lynch - for whom the term “lynching” was derived - had a “vigilance” party in Virginia that supported law and order, and that captured and tried criminals. Once Democrats founded the Ku Klux Klan, they adopted the “vigilance” concept and turned it to their own nefarious purpose of targeting Blacks, thus giving rise to “vigilantism” and the “lynching” of Blacks to instill fear and control, and suppress them. Knowing that the more one learns of our history, the more one loves our country, Democrats have removed US History, Political Studies, Civics from graduation criteria in schools, universities and colleges. Democrats are co-joined and co-opted by organizations with US membership that seek to infiltrate and destroy the US (Antifa, BLM, Soros, Muslim Brotherhood, CAIR, etc). These groups promote cultural Marxism and anarchy while claiming to be Americans. Democrats are always the first to resort to violence to achieve their goals. The Southern Poverty Law Center published a survey in June 2022 that found nearly half of young Democratic males approve “of assassinating a politician who is harming our country or democracy”. The recent most high profile public figures caught perpetrating crimes or facing accusers for their evil acts are Democrats: Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein, Bernie Madoff, Gilhaine Maxwell, Kevin Spacey, Hunter Biden, James Franco. These persons are supported by fellow Democrats (Clintons, Obamas, Hollywood stars) until their evil becomes excessive and irrefutable. Only then are they abandoned. Democrats are the only party that holds up racial dividers as truth sayers and sages (J. Jackson, A. Sharpton, S. Abrams, A. Rye). Democrats are the only party to riot, loot, destroy, pillage when they lose fair elections. (See public agitation encouraged by M. Waters and others) Democrats cheat, break the rules or change the rules to win elections (look up voting fraud cases). Why do you think Democrats oppose voter ID? Democrats constantly belittle and undermine Christianity while embracing Islam, as though they don’t understand or don’t care that Islam detests democratic principles, subjugates women, and calls for death to homosexuals. Democrats have moved further left since JFK, the last Democrat President who was a lifetime member of the NRA, sought to lower taxes, and wanted to cut government hand-outs. Democrats comprise 75% of mass shooters. Criminals who either have assassinated or attempted to assassinate police officers sitting in their vehicles have all been Democrats. Democrats are the only party to embrace socialism as though they cannot or do not learn from history, and ignore that millions of people have died as a result of socialism. Democrats comprise the party which fails to collectively comprehend that capitalism raises the living standards for all. Democrats represent the party that ignores facts (Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton), statistics (police shootings vs BLM), and science (climate change, abortion). Democrats ignore facts, statistics, science and history....except when a narrow perspective is supported by one of these to push their agenda. Democrats claim to believe in science but only when it suits them. The fact that Democrats support abortion ignores the fundamental issue: Democrats support underage sex and sex out of wedlock without personal responsibility and accountability for one’s choices or actions, in addition to their support for murder of an unborn life. Democrats are the party of hypocrisy. They resort to name calling because their logic is fundamentally flawed and without rational basis. Democrats and their cohorts in the media actively shield the criminals amongst them and have created a double-standard of justice. See H Clinton, B Clinton, Clinton Foundation, H Weinstein, B Obama, J Biden, J Brennan, J Clapper, J Epstein, etc. More recently, Democrats want to defund the police, have encouraged rioting and looting, all while actively seeking to disarm the citizenry and restrict gun ownership in the face of their rising violence. Democrats use their office and position to target political enemies. See K. Harris, L. James, A. Schiff, M. Waters, E. Green, J. Nadler, F. Wilson, L. Cheney, L. Murkowski. Democrats two phony impeachment trials on the American people based on false information and lies, and two of the most polarized partisan votes ever. Democrats supported them and Republicans did not. They both failed because they had no merit whatsoever. There is no program, initiative or project that has been proposed, implemented or managed by Democrats that has been good for the country over the long-term. The new cancel culture pushed by liberal Democrats seeks to remove historical symbols and figures of racism. The most significant symbol to cancel would be the Democrat party which has always been the primary initiator and supporter of racist policies and practices in both deed and action. Yet, this will not happen because this party is necessary to further promote the agenda of evil, death and destruction. The Democrat Party is the real and primary racist organization in America and its members are the greatest threat this nation has ever faced, internal or external, since its founding.

The new deal was a retread of Teddy Roosevelt's Square Deal, Teddy being one of the most well known Progressives and very influential during the early part of the century. So while Bryan had some ideas, it was actually Teddy who made the impact. You left that out
@johnweber4577
@johnweber4577 4 жыл бұрын
The irony is that Theodore Roosevelt probably wouldn’t have done what he did if it weren’t for men like Bryan. He was essentially the American counterpart to Britain’s Benjamin Disraeli and Germany’s Otto von Bismarck. His “Progressive Conservatism” as he called it being very much akin to their “One Nation Conservatism”. Disraeli and Bismarck implemented moderate reform programs to cut the legs out from the emerging socialist movements in their countries who they worried would throw things out of balance. The populists were seen as posing the same kind of threat in the United States. TR himself was worried about the coming of a destructive revolution. Regardless of what anybody makes of switches in their constituencies the Republican Party, as well as their precursors among the Federalists and Whigs, have historically been the business friendly party that promoted individual striving while the Democrats, and their predecessors among the Anti-Federalists and Democratic Republicans, historically have claimed to be the party that spoke for the common and pit then against economic elites. The reason I bring this up is that there is a tendency to skip from Lincoln to TR and ignore the fact that the Gilded Age emerged under the watch of the Republicans who held largely uninterrupted control of the federal government following the Civil War for many years. It was men like William Jennings Bryan and Tom Watson who emerged out of the Democratic Party that started the populist movement in opposition to it. Leading into the main point that TR’s moderate reform approach wasn’t as radical as what the populists were proposing, but did enough to keep them from managing to take over. His usual answer being to hold businesses to standards more than taking control of them or breaking them up. For instance, Bryan thought that all trusts should be broken up while Teddy made a distinction between “good trusts” and “bad trusts” and tried to target malfeasant behavior as he saw that as the greater problem than economic disparity. Ironically, his in some ways more conservative successor William Howard Taft busted more trusts in one term than TR did in both of his and that was one of the many reasons for falling. Another example highlighting the difference is that Bryan thought that the railroads out to be nationalized while Teddy settled for regulation. He wound up going a bit further when running for a third time when he wasn’t just up against the Democratic Progressive Woodrow Wilson but a full-on Socialist in the form of Eugene V. Debs. I find the interplay at work there interesting and thought it would be some good food for thought. Haha

@The Life Analyst / you clearly do not know history. Republicans supported ALL civil rights acts more than Democrats (yes there were more than one civil rights act). Republicans even supported the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (probably the only one you are aware of) more than Democrats. Over 80% of the Republican Congress supported it while only 60% of the Democrat congress supported it. The Democrats even filibustered the 1964 act trying to stop it. Here are all civil rights acts and amendments throughout US history so you can do your own research... Amendments: 13th, 14th, 15th, 19th, 24th Civil Rights Acts: 1866,1871,1875,1957,1960,1964,1965,1968,1991 Also the racist in the 1964 election was Democrat LBJ, not Goldwater. LBJ was an avid racist his entire life and only signed the 1964 act for political reasons - this is all well documented, including his statement about the act “I’ll have those N______s voting Democrat for the next 200 years”. *Goldwater Supported the 24th Amendment abolishing poll taxes, LBJ was against it. *Goldwater founded the NAACP in Phoenix with his own money. *Goldwater desegregated schools, LBJ fought to keep segregation. *Goldwater pushed and voted for the 1964 act in senate, he only opposed an addition by the house which made it unconstitutional in his mind. Please research before posting in the future to prevent more embarrassment.

@George Randall The talking point about Lincoln and Marx being friends is a pervasive myth that simply isn’t true when you actually look into it. It’s often asserted that the two were pen pals but the extent of the interaction, if you can even call it that, between them is as follows: -A collection of social activists in Europe that included Marx sent Lincoln a letter to congratulate him on his re-election and show their support for him in the war. Marx drafted it under a different name and his own is lower on the list of signers. -A response was sent back written not by Lincoln but by a member of his administration Charles Adams, thanking them for their show of support and that the president hoped he would prove himself worthy of their confidence. It wasn’t even sent to Marx himself. That's literally it. It can’t even be proven that Lincoln read that particular letter anymore than he did the other thousands of then he was sent. Not to mention how despite attempts to attach themselves to Lincoln publicly in their private correspondences Marx and Friedrich Engels were actually quite critical of him and hardly considered him a fellow traveler ideologically. Here’s an example from a letter Marx sent to Engels dated September 10, 1862: “The way in which the North is waging the war is none other than might be expected of a bourgeois republic, where humbug has reigned supreme for so long. The South, an oligarchy, is better suited to the purpose, especially an oligarchy where all productive labour devolves on the n-s and where the 4 million ‘white trash’ are flibustiers by calling. For all that, I’m prepared to bet my life on it that these fellows will come off worst, ‘Stonewall Jackson’ notwithstanding. It is, of course, possible that some sort of revolution will occur beforehand in the North itself.“ Later in another letter dated September 7, 1864 Marx would write: “Lincoln has at his disposal considerable means for achieving election. (Needless to say, the peace proposals made by him are mere humbug.) The election of an opposition candidate would probably lead to a genuine revolution. Nevertheless, there is no mistaking the fact that during the next 8 weeks, in the course of which the matter will be decided pro tem, much will depend on military eventualities. This is undoubtedly the most critical moment since the beginning of the war. Once this has been shifted, Old Lincoln can blunder on to his heart’s content.” Ironically, Marx and Engels were both excited by the ascent of Andrew Johnson to the presidency after Lincoln’s assassination. Marx would say in a letter dated May 1, 1865: “Johnson is stern, inflexible, revengeful and as a former poor White has a deadly hatred of the oligarchy.” Later in the same letter he’d say: “He will make less fuss about these fellows, and, because of the treachery, he will find the temper of the North commensurate with his intentions.” For his part, Engels would write in a response dated May 3, 1865: “Johnson will insist on confiscation of the great estates, which will make the pacification and reorganisation of the South rather more acute. Lincoln would scarcely have insisted on it.” As you can see, neither Marx nor Engels really saw Lincoln as a fellow traveler. At least not in the long run. At the end of the day both saw him as ultimately being a standard bourgeois politician at best. The idea that Lincoln was some kind of nascent crypto-socialist is tenuous and an example of historical revisionism. All of what Lincoln actually said about economic policy and class warfare is incompatible with socialism. Including these gems: “The prudent, penniless beginner in the world labors for wages awhile, saves a surplus with which to buy tools or land for himself, then labors on his own account another while, and at length hires another new beginner to help him. This, say its advocates, is free labor-the just, and generous, and prosperous system, which opens the way for all, gives hope to all, and energy, progress, and improvement of condition to all.” -From Lincoln’s address to the Wisconsin State Agricultural Society delivered September 30, 1859 “It is best for all to leave each man to acquire property as fast as he can. Some will get wealthy. I don’t believe in a law to prevent a man from getting rich; it would do more harm than good. So while we do not propose any war on capital, we do wish to allow the humblest man an equal chance to get rich with everybody else.” -From Lincoln’s speech in New Haven, Connecticut delivered March 6, 1860 “Property is the fruit of labor; property is desirable; is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another, but let him work diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built." -From Lincoln’s response to the New York Democratic Republican Workingman’s Association dated March 21, 1864 That’s not just him extolling individual striving and private property but supporting the profit motive and wealth creation. All while decrying the idea of class warfare. He also made it clear throughout his career that he saw himself as a conservative rather than a radical. He consistently revered the Founding Fathers rather than seeing them as archaic at best or evil at worst like most Leftists today are prone to doing and constantly referred to their example in his arguments. Perhaps the clearest case he made for the label was in his now too often be Cooper Union Address, where he even goes so far as to challenge Southern Democrats in their claim to it, delivered February 27, 1860: “But you say you are conservative-eminently conservative-while we are revolutionary, destructive, or something of the sort. What is conservatism? Is it not adherence to the old and tried, against the new and untried? We stick to, contend for, the identical old policy on the point in controversy which was adopted by "our fathers who framed the Government under which we live"; while you with one accord reject, and scout, and spit upon that old policy, and insist upon substituting something new. True, you disagree among yourselves as to what that substitute shall be. You are divided into new propositions and plans, but you are unanimous in rejecting and denouncing the old policy of the fathers. Some of you are for reviving the foreign slave trade; some for a Congressional Slave-Code for the Territories; some for Congress forbidding the Territories to prohibit Slavery within their limits; some for maintaining Slavery in the Territories through the judiciary; some for the "gur-reat pur-rinciple" that "if one man would enslave another, no third man should object", fantastically called "Popular Sovereignty"; but never a man among you is in favor of federal prohibition of slavery in federal territories, according to the practice of "our fathers who framed the Government under which we live". Not one of all your various plans can show a precedent or an advocate in the century within which our Government originated. Consider, then, whether your claim of conservatism for yourselves and your charge of destructiveness against us, are based on the clearest and stable foundations.“ It should be noted that economic interventionism or higher taxes in of themselves aren’t left-wing. The Republicans like their predecessors among the Federalists and the Whigs held the standard views conservative parties held on economics. Trying to argue otherwise would lead to one having to say then that Benjamin Disraeli’s Tories were to the left of William Gladstone’s Liberal Party back in the 19th Century. Liberal economics was left-wing when it was up against old school mercantilism. The American School of economic these parties in question was an intermediary between each other with critically applied mercantilist policy in a mostly free market in order to develop and protect the national economy rather than impose a vision of social justice. That’s why business owners large and small were already throwing their support behind them while very many of those who were anti-big business fought against such policy as they didn’t want what they saw as the oppressive presence of corporations to invade their untouched communities. Again, I just don’t see how one can genuinely argue that Lincoln was anything close to an anti-capitalist, let alone something along the lines of a Marxist.

I love Thomas Jefferson the man, Jeffersonian all the way. What I didn't hear mentioned was the Democrat party and the KKK, let alone the truth about slavery in America at this time. Many men, Jefferson, Washington both had free'd their slaves before taking office but back then you couldn't just free your slaves, they were not free until your death. So, people just assume these men were racists to the core. Maybe to a point they were, but given the context of their time, they were radicals. The constitution was a document that was in many ways a brilliant compromise given the time, people tend to forget there was many trying to throw away the chains of slavery before America was even born. But our framers also knew at the time it was politically impossible, like repealing ObamaCare. We got rid of the mandate, but the thorny laws that muck up healthcare still exist. So, it wasn't perfect. But it was brilliant and you gotta think of the times. If you had money, you had slaves. It wasn't just blacks by far either. IF you were poor, chances are you were a slave to somebody. It just depends on the type of slavery we're talking about. Lot's of history missing here. That's my point.

Too true.

Theodore Roosevelt was a “Progressive Conservative” responding to the social unrest that created the populist movement represented by men like William Jennings Bryan, that largely came out of the Democrats, in retaliation to the Gilded Age, that occurred under the watch of the Republicans, with moderate reform to maintain societal stability and keep the radicals from taking power and throwing things out of balance. The best comparison to make would be to the “One Nation Conservatives” of Europe like Britain’s Benjamin Disraeli and Germany’s Otto von Bismarck who did similarly to cut the legs out from the rising socialist movements in their countries. Despite some of the baggage he comes with now, his partisan rival Woodrow Wilson was an unabashed left-wing Progressive who did lay the foundation for the modern Democratic Party in several ways. And ultimately, Franklin Roosevelt would more closely follow in his footsteps than his distant cousin’s. Theodore Roosevelt Jr. even campaigned against him on behalf of the Republicans.

It wasn’t just 2 spilts but 4 splits of the Democrat party in 1860. Abraham Lincoln won the election with the fewest electoral votes (but he had the most to win because the Democrats had to split the electoral voter pot by 4 candidates).

Very true.

Jefferson was not a Democrat... NOT A DEMOCRAT. He was further RIGHT than a lot of the founders. He wrote, not only the Declaration of Independence, but the rough draft that was vehemently anti-slavery. The other founders actually watered down the rough draft to the Declaration we see today, because they knew we needed the southern states to fight and keep independence from Britain. The "split" between Democrats and Republicans happened with Andrew Jackson declaring his Democrat party which turned into the Confederacy. The Republican party was just a continuation of what the founders started, being that we began as a REPUBLIC in the first place. The Democrat party branched away from the founders principles of "all men created equal", therefore believing in majority rule, vs. constitutional protections for all, which allowed them to keep slavery because they were obviously the majority in a Democracy.

@@Eidelmania Yeah, Jefferson’s ideas seem to be misunderstood more often than not. He did not support agrarianism because it was a traditional way of life but he saw it instead as a way for the common man to attain material independency and with that real freedom and equality. Neither did he promote states’ rights out of a desire to curtail mob rule but rather due to the judgment that it was the level of government most responsive to the will of the people. As the country industrialized and federal government democratized, his political heirs recalibrated their approach. Jefferson was indeed a left-winger by the standards of his own time. What we would now call a political Right and Left was starting to form during the Washington Administration and sharped in response to the French Revolution which is where those terms come from in the first place.

@The Life Analyst African Americans started voting Democrat up to 80% on average starting in the New Deal Era, not after the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Southern whites started shifting some during the 1950’s under Eisenhower, even after he federalized the National Guard in order to enforce “Brown v Board of Education” in Little Rock, when industrialization started to sweep across the South and wasn’t fully solidified until 30 years after the Civil Rights Act in question occurred in the mid-1990’s. (A time when you still had things like the Democratic Clintons calling young black men “Super Predators” I might add). That’s not to say that there weren’t shady actors in the Republican Party attempting to use dirty tactics for votes but it’s another question as to whether or not it meant they actually wanted to employ racist policy on top of that rather than just being a cynical ploy which the Nixon Administration’s record on school integration and affirmative action should raise some questions about and a third to ask whether it was the chief motivator for the South turning Republican regardless. I think that looking at the timeline and applying Occam’s Razor it seems to be hard for me to not come to the conclusion that as industry began to flourish in the South they care to embrace the party that historically had been more business friendly. Though of course as the Democrats had to do prior, on the national stage that led to having to toe the line with the South on how they approach some issues that isn’t as much of a problem on the state level.
@johnweber4577
@johnweber4577 4 жыл бұрын
@The Life Analyst I’ll concede that I misremembered the exact number but my main point about it being a clear unambiguous majority of African American voters still stands all the same. Also, I never said Eisenhower won the whole of the South. What I did claim is that starting to see a markedly larger number of Southerners become willing to vote for a Republican in the South in comparison to previous years which steadily increased over time as the years went on. Ergo, it was a transition under way before the 1964 Civil Rights Act or Southern Strategy that needs something else to help fully explain its beginnings in the first place that some sketchy Republicans later picked up on and wanted to expedite in the face of having lost other demographics to the Democrats which from the best of what we can tell wasn’t terribly effective the years implemented. I’m not defending the entirety of the entire Republican establishment throughout time so much as I am trying to assert why I believe voting blocks ultimately went he way they did. The greater apparent correlation on the economic side of things feels hard to ignore and more plausible.

@chris L The Jeffersonian Republicans were the institutional precursors to the Democrats at the very least. I don’t know how you could draw a line between Washington and the Federalists to the Democratic Party. Here is the break down of how the parties evolved over the years to the best that I understand it: During the First Party System you had parties known as the Federalists and the Republicans. Though the Republicans were themselves split between the left-wing Jeffersonians and the Southern conservatives that came to be known as the “Tertium Quids” in contrast to the Federalists who represented northern conservatism. The Federalists would become disgraced beyond repair to the general public after the Hartford Convention during the War of 1812 and would eventually fade away. Leading to the original Republicans becoming the only Party with real power during th “Era of Good Feeling”. Three major factions would emerge within the Republicans. You had the “Democratic Republicans” made up of the Jacksonians who were essentially a reformation within the Jeffersonians, the “National Republicans” that essentially succeeded the Federalists and the “Old Republicans” who were the heirs to the Tertium Quids. The original Republican Party would break apart for multiple reasons. The Democratic Republicans would go on to form the Democratic Party while the National and Old Republicans would become dominant factions within the wide tented Whig Party as the “Conscience Whigs” and “Cotton Whigs” respectively. Awhile after Jackson’s death the Whig Party would break o We their irreconcilable views on the issue of slavery. Leading to the Conscience Whigs forming the foundation of the modern Republican Party and the Cotton Whigs moving to merge with the Democrats. Though they would run into problems quickly as the former Cotton Whigs were dissatisfied with their 1860 election nominee Stephen Douglas and they wound up leaving again to form the “Southern Democratic Party” and put in their own candidate. An exercise that would repeat itself during the election cycle of 1948 when their successors walked out in Harry S. Truman to form the “States’ Rights Democratic Party” and again put up their own candidate but lumbered back in after losing. If anybody switched it was the geographical constituencies tied to that faction which was already leaving periodically rather than the all than the people in the broader party machine. In terms of ideological lineage the Federalists became the modern Republicans and the Jeffersonian Republicans became the Democrats. Ultimately the underlying dynamic that’s never changed is that the Republican tradition has historically been the business friendly party that promotes individual striving while the Democratic lineage historically has tended to be the party claiming to speak for the common man and pit them against economic elites. Examples highlighting that including Alexander Hamilton versus Thomas Jefferson on the issue of the Revolutionary War debt speculators, Henry Clay versus Andrew Jackson on the issue of the National Bank, and William McKinley versus William Jennings Bryan on the issue of free silver. The manifestation of their political instincts in public policy has evolved over time due to changing conditions in the world they inhabited which interned led to shifts in their voting blocks who were looking out for their own independent interests.
