Trigonometry on Khan Academy: Big, fancy word, right? Don't be fooled. Looking at the prefix, tri-, you could probably assume that trigonometry ("trig" as it's sometimes called) has something to do with triangles. You would be right! Trig is the study of the properties of triangles. Why is it important? It's used in measuring precise distances, particularly in industries like satellite systems and sciences like astronomy. It's not only space, however. Trig is present in architecture and music, too. Now you may wonder...how is knowing the measurement and properties of triangles relevant to music?? THAT is a great question. Maybe you'll learn the answer from us in these tutorials!
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.
For free. For everyone. Forever. #YouCanLearnAnything

ah, nostalgia. I'm a year 4 undergrad in physics and I'd like to say thank you to khan academy for all your amazing work. Before I get into physics major, I watched a ton of your videos on math and physics. Without your videos I'd be absolutely rubbish at math, let alone physics. Again, thank you so much for making these videos!

Quite a long method dont you think to convert. If I know that 1 degree = π/180, then 30 degree = [ (π/180) * 30 ] radians I find this much simpler to work out.

For some reason, I find it easier to see the problem as a ratio using A/B=C/D. I guess he is trying to explain the reasoning behind it which kind of escape me. There is always more than one way of looking at a problem Any thoughts on this? πr/180° = ?/30° 30° (πr)/180° = πr/6 (30/180 = 1/6) so: πr/6 = 30°

notice how he cleverly avoids the arithmetic involved with using approximations for pi (presumably, because "Pi/N" is exactly correct while "3.14159...../N" is wildly inaccurate!) ( For those who couldn't follow the arithmetic, one Radian is approx.57 degrees

While converting 30 degrees to radians you wrote "degrees" in numerator and denominator for no reason. This is wrong. Here you just multiply with "number". You don't need to consider its units.
