Trigonometry on Khan Academy: Big, fancy word, right? Don't be fooled. Looking at the prefix, tri-, you could probably assume that trigonometry ("trig" as it's sometimes called) has something to do with triangles. You would be right! Trig is the study of the properties of triangles. Why is it important? It's used in measuring precise distances, particularly in industries like satellite systems and sciences like astronomy. It's not only space, however. Trig is present in architecture and music, too. Now you may wonder...how is knowing the measurement and properties of triangles relevant to music?? THAT is a great question. Maybe you'll learn the answer from us in these tutorials!

yeah for some countries like singapore, but most countries do this in year 11. People also do this in universities because they either fail math in school, or they didnt take it- or maybe thats just the course the person takes.

I got it. All I did was scaled y/x for tangent which = y coordinate of all the points with x coordinates of radius 1. Walla It went from challenging to easy in a split second. But it took me 20 minutes to get this concept

The reason why tangent approaches infinity near π/2. The reason why tangent repeats only limited to intervals of 90 degrees when x is to be also accounted for. Why only graph the first quadrant and don't continue to graph the second seeing like y that's where x turns negative. What does the complete tangent graph looks like on a wave unrestricted to π/2. I thought it would be a fusion of the sin wave and the cos wave but idk I have the answers needed to move on acedemicly but the deeper questions and reasonings seem to be glossed over.

It has to do with the fact that in Radian you do everything with correlation to Pi. Imagine a normal circle with 360 degrees. Another way to notate this 360 degrees is by using radians, where pi is equal to 180 degrees, or a half a circle. 2pi is equal to a full cirlce, or 360 degrees.

@@theusa4052 I think they mean their RSM teacher, RSM is an after school math learning center. RSM stands for Russian School of Math, and therefore teachers who work there are called Russian math teachers.
