Picanto or MG3? Also thoughts on the "exhausts"? 🤣

I drive a 2015, 1.2EX Auto, the odometer is on 200000km and not a single issue with my car. I just love my car. The only car I would trade this in for is another Picanto

Glad you finally got to drive the 3 cylinder picanto GT I've had one for a couple of months now and it's absolutely fantastic been everywhere in it and love it

I bought a 2 trim picanto under duress 2 years ago but quickly upgraded to the X-line which I loved. This one was written off by a careless truck driver who hit me from behind and pushed me into crash barriers, thus wrecking the front and back of the car... I was gutted. I now have (finally...after months of insurance problems) a 1 year old GT - almost the same as the car you are in in this video. It's amazing!!! Why would anyone who is looking for a small car buy anything else? It's bogs dollox!

Hi Matt, bought this car new a few weeks back based on your review, completely sight unseen. I could not have generated more interest at Head Office if I turned up in a Lamborghini. Colleagues were asking for the keys just to sit inside. My wife jokes with friends I bought half a car’ but even she concedes how spacious it is. Brilliant little machine and roars up hills like a greyhound with a wonky suppository. Great purchase, thanks Matt. Though I have to say I have been scared off demo’s for the rest of my life after watching this ( axle tramp !)

Great review, but calm down with that gearstick or you'll snap it off! The gearchange is light and easy on the Picanto, it doesn't need all that wrenching.

It's known as the GT-Line S here in the UK and it's BRILLIANT for driving our narrow winding roads as it goes around corners as if it's on rails and sprints like a spooked rabbit

I have had both the turbo and the non-turbo Picanto. The turbo will get you to 60mph in a straight line about three seconds quicker than the non-turbo if that's what's important to you, however, the duel port fuel injection system in the non-turbo rewards you in fuel economy, I would get at least 80 miles more per tank of fuel in the non-turbo than in the turbo.

Yup, twin exhausts... still going to put the deposit down this weekend though

We have the UK 2018 GT-line S version of this car and it's great, and a welcome change from the ubiquitous 'SUV', which it seems all manufacturers are forcing on us these days. It's not 'hot' by any means. But it has a turbo 99 bhp engine which gets the car to 62 mph in 9.9 seconds, which probably makes it a 'warm' hatch. It's good to drive and I find it's very easy to chuck around. The interior is very nice and makes the car feel more expensive than it really is. I would have preferred an Abarth, but there are no local dealers and I'm not convinced about its reliability.

I agree with you Matt, fake exhaust outlets are a fail IMO. I’m also not a fan of the facelift personally, I preferred the more aggressive look of my 2019. I sometimes regret selling mine some days.

I've read you can get an extra 40bhp out of these with a remap. That would make it an interesting competitor to the base Abarth.

Matt - don't know how many different Picanto GT vides I have watched - Au / UK /South African / Koreaunny video / Pakistan / India / German / Netherlands - lots. The one common thread I've found is that they all say the gear shift is a bit loose - I took delivery of my GT 26.05.22 after a 10 week wait - order deposit full payment Delivery. Having only spent two daays driving I have to say rthe gear throw is short and precise - not loose as some would have you believe, Perhaps my Feb 22 build has a fix from earlier models - I don't really know. I steppedd out of a 1986 BMW 635CSi and 20001 Falcon XR6 III (both manuals) I keep coing back to your funny video as the reason. I purchased it - and I am in my 60's

Dude you can shift quickly without being so brutal on the driveline / clutch etc. The way you change into second it just looks like you’re TRYING to break something.

The fake exhaust tips can be modified at a muffler shop for next to nothing !! cut circular holes add real chrome tips route pipes to muffler or black them out at a panel shop. done!

I have a 2016 Sporty 84hp unit. Obviously the former twin exhaust tails are attractive but, for me, the car audio sound quality is more important. In my '16 Picanto (4+2 tweeters) the music sounds as in the grandma radio 😫 Has the '21 version improved the sound?

Does turning on the air conditioning slow it down? :)

Every review is the GT/Line/X which are the 16" wheeled, vinyl seated, gaudi versions. You actually want the 3 version. Thats the one I have and its automatic or course. No car is cheap. No car is fun. Its just transport.

Again you fail, why you just did a city only, like you did last time, and i stated this also, do you only live in a area thats only 5 square ks ???. get off the city rubbish driving and get it on some 100km bendy roads. you know outside of your small living space you test drive in. i own a picanto S have so for 3 years they are a 1.2L and go well, on local drives fast bendy roads as well as 900k drives country to city and city to country roads.
