Just got our kia(same issues and codes) from the shop. Ran great for 15min going home, then it popped a new p0302 code and started running rough. This video was very informative. Going to take it back to them asap.

Yesterday my 2011 Kia Picanto ony has 3 cylinder and was exactly like this video, my mechanic on the phone who has replaced the spark plugs last month to iridium bosh, right away said it was one of the coils and the engine is misfiring. this video explained it to me very well. thats good to have a brother in law as a mechanic and eletronic auto specialist. great video, right to the point. explained very well to a non mechanic like me :) regards

I have a question I have a 2008 Kia Rio automatic transmission and my Timing chain broke and it bent a few values and broke one I had a shop fix all that and when I got the car back the check engine like would flash then stay on and it would feel like the engine is rocking back and forth so the shop replaced the coils spark plugs replaced the head gasket cause spark plugs was getting oil to them. The code the car is picking up is Cylinder one miss fire no other codes so the shop told me it was the fuel injections so they all was replaced now they are saying it is the computer. The car runs really good and only acts up when it's cold out. The car never had this problem until the timing chain was replaced. My question is do you think it has something to do with the replacement of the Timing chain cause under the oil cap it is milky and the shop says that is normal and if I take the Ignition coils off of the spark plugs there is oil on them. Could the shop that took care of my head have missed a thin crake in it. Every shop I ask won't tell me nothing they say take it back to the shop that fixed it. Can you PLEASE answer my question.

Sounds like the seals around the spark plugs need replacing

I have a kia seltos 2021 and recently star sounds exactly Is sounds that kia rio and when i conect the scaner immediately give me a 3 codes whit miss fires for the three first pistons and i have only 80k miles

I’ve changed my spark plugs and all my coils it no longer has a rough idle but the check engine light is still on any suggestions?

Thanks Mark. At the time of this video I did not. But I do now :) in hindsight I could have captured much more detail for everyone if I checked the primarily voltages with the scope. I’m a little disappointed I didn’t. Live and learn

these is how a one hour diagnostic charge can be turn in to two by pulling fuses on a fuse that provides power to all coils

Kind of confused by your statement? The entire job took less than an hour. Including diagnosis. Are you saying It takes you 2hrs to pull a fuse? In all honesty it’s just the opposite. if a coil had failed I would have seen it in the first 5 minutes without taking anything apart. in other words 5 minutes for a 1 hour diag.

Thanks for asking! Regular tune-ups and maintenance are key to keeping your car running smoothly. A flashing light is a fault that can cause further damage in most cases so its best to diagnose as soon as possible

I have a misfire in num 4 cyl in a 2007kia rio. Switched coil packs 3 and 4 and misfire was still in cyl 4! Replaced all injectors with new ones no change! Removed and cleaned throttle body and throttle position sensor and still getting misfire in #4 cyl.! It runs way better since cleaning throttle body but still have the original misfire in cyl 4! All coil packs seemed to be fine and no oil or anything down in the wells. Not sure what to do next!

@@ASH-ou4cg i did! I replaced all the coil packs and its fixed! I had ruled that out because the fault code didnt follow the cylinder when i swapped 3 and 4 coil packs! Thx for the follow up!

@@StonemanRocks This is great to hear. My wife's 2009 Kia Rio is throwing a P0301 code, for a misfire on cylinder 1. I have replaced cam censor, crankshaft sensor, all 4 spark plugs and cleaned my throttle body and same thing. Next up is the coils and then the injectors. I really hope to get this fixed, as it causing me a lot of stress and time and money. I am also getting a P0455 evap leak, which is just another can of worms to deal with. Thanks so much for your reply, I really appreciate it. Do you have a link to the exact coils you purchased?

@@ASH-ou4cg i dont remember exactly but it was either rock auto or parts geek where we bought the coil packs! Same with the injectors! Partsgeek had an insane cheap price for the injectors! So cheap i thought it was a mistake! $24 for all 4! I hesitated because the next price was $26 each for a reconditioned one! They have been installed for about 2 1/2 mons and no problems!

It was the coil pacs that fixed my issue because I installed the injectors and still had the same fault code!

Its funny all the auto channels i watched SMA, Scannerdanner, you and many more rums that d#mn fix it ad. I hate that freaking ad and they should be sued for misleading auto owners. There is no scanner in the world thats going to tell you whats wrong with your car. It can lead you in a Direction to test but, sometimes thats wrong. So how can that miracle 50$ fix it scanner tell you exactly whats wrong. Ive diaged cars that the repair had nothing to do with the code it set. It really gets me heated.
