this 2013 kia optima came in with a check engine light on and no power complaint. code p2562 turbocharger boost control position sensor A circuit was found stored. after some research i adjusted the waste gate actuator rod and verified the the vehicle was working.

This is the best, most descriptive, and overall fantastic video describing and troubleshooting this issue. Thank you. The dealership told me I needed a new turbo. $6000. I did this for nothing in my driveway.

Thanks for the video I have a 2013 SX TDGi and have the same issue at a cold start. Temporary solution I found was to let the car warm up when the rpm drops to 1. Shut it off and restart and code won’t come out car runs fine. If I drive it cold start does it every time like a limp mode but as soon I restart it it’s fine. I only do this if I haven’t been driving car for a good while and engine is cold. Once I get the money I’ll take it to the shop, my code reader doesn’t have live data unfortunately but at least I now know what the issue is.

It did for a while then the engine went completely out a couple of months later , luckily still had warranty got brand new engine and so far nothing.

I have a 2012 Optima SX turbo and it does the same thing. The way around it is to start the car, run it for a few minutes, turn it off and start up again. It moves the pot to the correct position and no more turbo limp mode. I have also seen it on a 90 degree day it will act normal.

While doing the adjustment, make sure the actuator is all the way to the RIGHT. Then you won't get the constant changing of the voltage.

Just had my sister's 2012 Kia Optima throw p2562. Quoted $2500.00 to fix. Not sure that is a good price. Based on watching your whole video, it doesn't look like a big job.

I have a 2015 Kia forte5 sx that’s doing the same thing I checked the voltage it’s 2.4 needs to be 4.0 but I can’t find the rod to adjust it..

Has customer returned or has it fixed the issue completely for now? Also, can please let me know which part you found for $200+? Wastegate actuator + rod?

For my Santa fe, the LOW power can be reset by turning the vehicle off. It happens once a week, sometimes two weeks. Finally the code came up 2562/2565. I'll likely hit the linkage with WD40 tomorrow. If that doesn't work, get the dealer to adjust the linkage.

Happens to my 2012 SX every winter. When temperatures drop below 45°. Sometimes it's the actually boost sensor, Sometimes the waste gate. I've owned the car since 2014. It sucks.

If I don't have the Wireless 906bt, do you know of a way to measure the voltage? I'm having this exact same issue and want to fix it myself, times are tough, but without knowing the current voltage I don't know how far to adjust the actuator rod. Also, to lower the voltage like you did, did you move the rod left or right in your video (ex. Left lowers voltage, right increases voltage) or maybe (spinning the top of the rod towards the front of the car lowers/raises voltage, etc. Etc.) Hopefully that makes sense as that was the only part of your video I couldn't clearly see. Thank you either way!!!

Unfortunately I don't remember. But you should be able to use a multimeter to read the voltage on the sensor.

So I have the optima 2013 sxl that exact car in the video I just changed the turbo and 5 mins of test drive and the power cut off while driving. So now I’m going to try this but please if anyone has any idea like I would really appreciate it because right now I really can’t afford to pay the dealer

No. Your wastegate is not supposed to open until your throttle is at a certain position during acceleration which produces a certain voltage to the computer which tells your actuator to open your wastegate which produces boost. During idle it should stay still. With ignition on(engine not started), you should get between 3.9 and 4.1 volts from the yellow wire at the actuator to ground. If not, your actuator will not respond at the right moment to open the wastegate. To adjust this voltage, you would need to disconnect the linkage rod at the wastegate and either shorten or lengthen the rod using the thread(release locknut) until you have proper voltage when the rod is reinstalled on wastegate lever.

Yes i do. Im actually thinking of upgrading to the autel ultra. But so far I've been able to get alot done with this one
