At the beginning of the 21st century's second decade, Korean maker Kia was intent on giving its products a European flavour and the Venga supermini MPV was one of its more successful efforts in this regard. A foursquare stance and neat detailing ensured that it didn't fall into the frumpy trap that captured many supermini-MPV products from this period, plus there was a good engine range and some clever design touches inside. Let's check it out as a used buy.

I believe I'm right in saying that the 1.6 litre petrol Venga ALSO comes with a 6-gear manual transmission, but only from 2012 onwards. I own a 1.4 petrol version with 5 gears, and I find myself wishing that I had a 6th gear every time I go on the motorway. Cruising at 70 MPH it noisier and more thirsty than I'd like, because at that speed it's doing 3,500 RPM. In order to cruise at 2,500 RPM you have to slow down to around 55 MPH.

I bought a Venga 3 Eco Dynamics 1.6 CRDi last June on a 62 plate, same blue as the one in this review. Overall I am happy with it as it is mainly to get me to work and back down the motorway, it has the Panoramic electric roof/ climate control/ heated seats/ glove box cooler/ cruise control/ speed limiter/ Bluetooth for hands free phone, but does not have the sat nav. The cost of running it as I don't flog it is quite reasonable, returning 60+ mpg and only £30 road tax for the year, I did however discover when it was too late that it has the rear door seal issue with rust across the tops of the rear doors, I am trying to figure out how best to address that.

@@MM-pb1se I haven't yet no, but I reckon I will just patch them up and look around salvage yards for replacement doors.

@@MM-pb1se Only issues are the rear doors, courtesy lights which there is an easy fix for, and the stop start doesn't kick in even though the DPF is clear.

A decent car but it’s as dull as dishwater. The Hyundai ix20 sister car is much nicer to look at

Just bought a 2014 Venga 3. 1.6L petrol. 6 speed box, large electric sunroof..... very willing car, handles well; most kit except sat nav; don't require latter anyway as plenty of good app's which'll talk through blue tooth if required. Bargain price and only 46,000 miles. Very satisfied.

How satisfied are you with the dynamics of the 1.6 engine? I really like the ix20, I want to take the model from 2017, the same 1.6 petrol only automatic, it also has 6 speeds, while the model before the redesign had only 4 speeds.
