SD really works to your advantage. Your hair is really pretty in this video, lenght and shine is great. More volume would be wow! I want to see your journey. Team without tiny belt! This skirt has enough waist definition on its own. Your waist is defined, not short, no tummy issues, so good fitting cloths do emphasize your waist already and enough to let the eyes wander smoothly. I especially like the tonal ensembles with darker trousers. Refined, confident and kind of well grounded strength.

You are definitely a soft dramatic, as I am. We have similar bodies, except my hips are wider. But also, these style of outfits fit us similarly... and also you exude the SD essence in all of them. The first outfit was enough for me to to agree to SD for you. There is a particular way in which skirts fit us....and a length that looks majestic on us, but dowdy on others. Skirts are often a telltale indicator for SDs, imo.

I have a very similar story with my kibbe journey. Thought I was a FN because of my shoulders and because I really didn't feel like my shape was very "dramatic" (I'm a very laid back, casual person). However, something didn't feel quite right. When discussing with some friends, they pointed out my curves and that my height (5' 10") is quite dramatic! Reviewing SD types, my body shape definitely lines up; however, as such a causal person I do not relate to many of the style recommendations. Just now embarking on my journey to try to piece together outfits that suite my taste while also respecting my lines, which is how I found your video. I'm looking forward to diving further into your videos-- thanks!

I would vote you are flamboyant natural! You have that broad beautiful natural smile and the natural jawline as well along with the open face and vibe of the naturals. Another reason I feel you are natural is I bet your hair looks amazing with some air and movement in it. There are curvy flamboyant naturals which is really confusing when curves are the first thing you think of with soft dramatics. Just a thought for you if the soft dramatic clothing, hair, and make up feel off after some experimenting! I believe Ally Art has a video on curvy flamboyant natural. Enjoy your journey!

Wow, you really did an amazing job with that visual info graphic hourglass references. It's such a simple example but one that REALLY works imho. I recently found a video of a stylist measuring around the shoulders, the bust, the waist and the low hips, I've never seen anyone incorporating the shoulders into the measurements. With the simple "bust - waist - hips" measurements taken, I always got told I was a lower heavy hourglass (for pear my upper back flares out too much, for an actual hourglass my bust lacks volume). Adding in the shoulder measurement changed a lot for me, because my shoulders actually are my very widest body part (and I do not work out at the moment, so no muscle has been built on my delts to widen that area). That completely changes the way the proportions are viewed. And that actually matches up way better with me being FN. I am very sure that I am one because these clothing lines are the ones that look best on me. When I thought I might be SN, I constantly felt weird in the recommended lines. And I had to wear padded bras to be able to fill in the blouses and dresses I found in the SN lines. For FN I can just throw something on and it will automatically fit and look good. So I would say, if one feels like they have to make a lot of alterations to kinda fit the clothes in the lines they think match their Kibbe ID, it might not be the right Kibbe ID. Give me a simple oversized shirt with a boat neck and a pair of flared jeans and I will look put together. Or the current trending oversized and super long trench coat shape with the dropped shoulder: Amazing for me. That's one trend I do appreciate because I finally found a trench coat I really love wearing. And I do think you are right. You look better in more fitted clothes to an extent that would probably not work that well for a FN. I am looking forward to your video on style roots, especially since it took me so long to actually figure mine out. (Just because I was in a transitional phase and kinda wasn't too sure what I really liked on myself.) Once I did figure it out, I felt it was easy to find a way to put all the elements together. The style roots really were like a missing link for me.

Thank you! That hourglass visual really helped solidify it for me. It's so interesting that shoulder measurements aren't usually taken into consideration! Sounds like FN is a great fit for you :) That's so important what you say about if you're trying too hard for something to work on you then it's probably not your ID. That's why Kibbe is good in a way because you're not fighting against your body, you're honouring it. Style roots is such an interesting concept, and I'm enjoying trying to balance that with Kibbe and HoC.

@@vickilouise7764 the reqs for FN and SD are very similar. I understand. Plus, there's so much incorrect info online. SD jackets should have broad shoulders and long lines. FN jackets should be long, unconstructed, and loose. The cardigan over the dress gives you that free, natural look. That's very flattering on you. SDs are flattered by shoulder emphasis. Your beauty shines through everything obv, but the drama doesn't appear sincere or organic on you but rather put on and exaggerated. FN all the way. The face, the talk, the movements, the vibe...also many FNs do have curves, but they are still frame dominated and will look best in relaxed and structured materials and lines. Fallen down the Kibbe rabbit hole this past month. I’m stuck between dramatic class and soft dramatic. I’m also 5’7” but I don’t appear tall! Apparently when I lose weight (currently UK 14) I appear taller and more willowy 🤷‍♀️ I love the outfit selections and explanations. I agree with some others to try a cowl necklines for the more drapey look to see how it feels. The bit that put me off SD was the romantic twist, I don’t see curve on myself or a sensual appearance - but I think that’s the essence part confusing things (I think I lean more classic in my essence?). I look amazing with Monica Bellucci style dresses/D&G style etc. It’s definitely tricky when you are tall and have broad shoulders. I'm 170 cm so technically I can only fall under one of those few body types. I don't have any curves so can't be SD and I'm not narrow and sharp like dramatics. But even though I have wider bone structure, flamboyant natural outfits look so sloppy on me. If I wear something oversized, chunky and layers, I get lost in the outfit and look . It does make sense though Kibbe changed on height and Diana Rigg 5'9 was typed a Dramatic Classic and Heidi Klum 5'91/2 a Natural . I see what you mean but don't totally see you at ease with it unlike when you are closer to classic , but then again I never saw too much of the natural element for you so it's confusing .But maybe of course your style will evolve towards the hyper feminine and voluptuous once you embrace it .... Anyway, as with most systems, not everyone fits in the "buckets". I decided I'm some eclectic mix (which defines Gamine, but I don't like the staccato, color blocking, etc). I *think* maybe horizontal and vertical measuring systems might be more helpful, ie hip/shoulders, and vertical proportions (Fashion Fit Formula).

@@vickilouise7764 the Fashion Fit Formula is a proprietary measuring system, available for $100 from Nada Manley on KZfaq (for example, that's where I heard about it), but there are many similar if different systems published that can be used. You measure yourself and then see where you are shorter than average. This can be a big nothing burger or life-changing, depending 😆. I've done a few myself and gained significant insight into why certain things were always a problem, for example I'm average height, 5'5", 115 lbs, but average jeans never fit my body, I need "tall, curvy, 12" highrise" (in Madewell brand, but not Everlane! 😆). That's why I wanna try some SD updoes that are easy cos then it's not as volume-dependant. Thank you for a helpful comment :)

Aly Art has a great video about “Curvy FNs” and compares them to SDs. The Natural family isn’t necessarily about shoulder width alone. It’s about that upper rib cage/torso area. Are your ribs/bones wider than the hip bones? Because it’s about bone structure, not flesh. Like, are your hips’ width there because of the fleshiness or because your hip bones are that wide? You know what I mean?

I'm 5'11" and decidedly a Soft Dramatic! I'm trying to move back towards that currently in my attire...but I've always felt that dressing as a SD when you are a regular person and not a movie star can be a bit hard, like you are trying to be something you're not. However, I'm ready to give it another "go". I've lost a good bit of weight over the years...put some beta-blocker weight on because COVID made my heart go into A-Fib and I had to take them until I had a cardiac ablation...but finally took the weight off again this summer. I was at the doctor again yesterday for a "wellness check" and surprisingly, I hadn't gained any weight back...the surprise was the way I was eating Halloween candy the week before! I'd dearly love to take off another 25-35 pounds before spring...which would get me close to my high school/college weight, and then I would feel better about investing in some appropriate SD clothes.

Is there any reason we can’t treat Kibbe types like Kitchener essences, in that we could combine them if it makes sense? Like, you could be 50% FN and 50% SD? Because surely no one fits perfectly into one type, and I find the height restrictions really limiting. For example, I’m pretty sure I’m a soft dramatic (yang bone structure - 5’7, very long arms and legs and long, thin, hands and feet, large bust, mixed facial features, but yin flesh - very round and fleshy, soft cheeks etc). The only part that doesn’t fit is that my shoulders and rib cage are very narrow. My girlfriend is the same height as me. She is definitely not a natural because she has a very round hourglass shape, and not dramatic because other than her height she is entirely yin. And yet there is no way she is the same type as me - she has much more yin everywhere, shorter, rounded arms, legs, hands and feet, rounder face etc. If it wasn’t for her height I would say she was a pure romantic. To me it would just make more sense to combine them but idk if there’s some point that I’m missing

I quite like that idea but Strictly Kibbe and Kibbe enthusiasts would say that you are only one ID. I think I'm an FN but as I'm a curvy FN I actually take on board more of the advice for SD as I feel it fits my body better. And as for essences I don't think I have much natural, I have more classic and romantic. I guess it's just choosing to follow whatever you feel fits better with who you are :)

I also thought FN was me and have gravitated to SD. Because FN are too square, too big and while people tell you to ignore the face, Kibbe doesn't actually; and It turns out my face is more sharp and romantic looking, at the same time, which is baically how SD is described. Plus, well, I kept wondering why they said FN never actually look gooid in Dramatic clothing when, in fact, I do. I have passed for Dramatic many times as long as I wasn't standing next to a real one.

So... looking at the clothes, I haven't really seen kibbe curve accommodating pieces. So far, you've just accomodated vertical. So you have dressed for a Dramatic. The pieces do not go around the curve or have a romantic essence. Think ruching, surplice neckline, corset style top with stiffness, wrap top etc. These pieces are made to work around the curve. Curve accommodating isn't just hugging or skimming the curves. I think including that would make it SD as it would include curve accommodation to the vertical you've already done so well. And they all look lovely on you in this video especially the black (if that's the color) dress. I encourage people to fully commit when testing lines as that's the only way to fully rule out something. Depending on the stretch in the fabric D, FN and SD can wear all these pieces you've shown. It rules out nothing. But only an SD can wear the curve focused pieces. Essence wise, I think you have some drama in you, but perhaps personality wise you prefer the natural laid back style. When you wore the turtle neck and put your hair in a ponytail... jeez the drama was 1000%. Serving hot boss lady. You are so beautiful.

But now it means I can do another similar video haaha! Thank you much for your last comment, love that! So kind of you :)

I agree with SD. My understanding is Kibbe at basic level is a fit system, and where does fit need to accommodate the body? I think I’m the opposite. I’m 5ft 9 and test as a soft dramatic but I feel so much more comfortable in flamboyant natural clothing even though I don’t have broad shoulders. I don’t like emphasizing my waist and curves or looking “sexy”. I like long flowing modest clothing. I have a problem with both though because I have a very long torso. The recommendations for a long torso conflict with the recommendations for soft dramatics and flamboyant naturals ie don’t try to shorten the look of your torso. I would feel really uncomfortable in the clingy clothes you tried on. You look like a soft dramatic from the waist down and a flamboyant natural above the waist so I get your confusion. I get confused too in that I am neither hourglass nor broad shouldered so I don’t entirely fit either category. I think the Kebbe system in general can be confusing and doesn’t have a category for everyone.

Soft dramatics and flamboyant naturals are quite similar and their clothing recommendations are often similar too, so it's really difficult to know which one you are! I hope my comment genuinely helps. I don’t think you are soft dramatic and here’s why. When looking at body types start with the basics. It’s a combination of bone structure and flesh. Bone structure will be sharp, blunt, or soft. Flesh will be dry, athletic, or soft. You have to fit the combination of these things to be a certain body type. The bone structure of a dramatic is undeniably sharp. Think sharpness in the bones of the cheeks, nose, collarbone, wrists, hands, etc. So a SD has sharp bones with soft flesh on top. This is the first test and that’s where it doesn’t quite fit for you. You have very blunt bones. Not only in your face but also in your body. It lacks sharpness. And yes you can slightly fit into hours glass and long vertical but these are very long vertical and very hourglass women. Yours is more on the moderate side. So with blunt bones, soft flesh, moderate to tall vertical, and slight hourglass you don’t fit SD. That being said you look beautiful and I find that we can borrow concepts from body types that are close even if they aren’t fully us.
