CLIP DESCRIPTION:
After getting humiliated by the popular girls at school, Mindy (Chole Moretz) realizes she doesn't need to fit in and be like the rest of them. She also manages to get some revenge, thanks to a special weapon her father left her.

The only way to make the world a better place is to make bullies accountable for their words and actions. Any bystanders who turn and look the other way while bullying is going on need to be made accountable too. The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.

That "bully", beforehand, was presenting faulty "advice" regarding what it means to get famous in high school to the other girl, "advice" that could have gotten the girl into serious trouble. We used to have a saying ‘stick and stones...’ before it turned into ‘be offended’ and cry ‘hate speech’. She’s just acting like every kid was taught to 30 years ago!

@@brentmeistergeneral6074 Except the problem was, and I can say this from being part of those generations, the expression "Sticks and Stones may break my bones" was basically used to shut kids down. Parents would go "Hey what do they say about sticks and stones" while a child was trying to tell them that they were being genuinely tormented at school. It's great to say "Let the words flow off of you they are just words" but if those "just words" are being repeated over and over and over and over to you and not one person in your life is doing anything to stop or contradict those words than eventually they start to beat there way in. Plus someone who is regularly bullied by one person tends to be bullied by that one person friends and from there the bullying can spread until it feels like the whole school is doing it all because a few of them want to be vied as "Cool" by the initiator. Depending on when the bullying starts that can be like 8 years worth of people calling names, slinging insults, and otherwise dragging a person's self esteem through the mud while they desperately ask for help only to be told "Sticks and stones, sticks and stones". Kids 30 years ago weren't all letting the words flow off of them and ignoring them, they were simply being told to shut up about it enough that they eventually just gave up asking for help. Why do you think that so many people from those generations are now in therapy? As for the "used to have a saying". That saying still exists and kids do still say it. The only thing that has happened to that expression is that the alternative now exists which is "Sticks and Stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me" because if there is one thing the generations of the 30 years ago are doing, it is massively embracing a love of BDSM.

@@LorieLynn I was bullied and I abided by ‘sticks and stones’... the bully realised he wasn’t getting through to me and stopped. Not only did he stop bullying me but everyone saw him fail and he lost all his ‘credibility’. I was never bullied again, and I don’t think he ever bullied again! Easy!
