Problem b, it is to count all pairs (s,t) such that t*(t+1)/2 - s*(s+1)/2 = G, which is the same as counting all pairs such that (2*t+1)^2 - (2*s+1)^2 = 8*G, which is the same as counting all pairs such such (t - s)*(t + s + 1) = 2*G, which is the same as counting the number of pairs (x,y) such that x*y=2G and exactly one of (x,y) is odd, which is equivalent to counting the number of odd factors of G.

Man instead of giving personal lessons which many of us can’t afford on the regular basis. Maybe make a course on competitive coding covering all the basics and how you solve it. I think I have a simpler solution for the first question. I know an efficient way to find the lexicography of a number. Which is one aspect of the first question A simple way to determine the lexicography of a a string is to think of it as a number with each letter representing a digit using their position in the alphabet. For instance {“a”:0,”b”:1, … , “z”:25} each letter in the string would represent a base26 value digit. For example “bz” would be (1)(25) since this is on base26 we need to convert it to base10 “bz” would be (1* 26^1) (25 * 26^0) once both strings lexicography value is converted back to base 10 you can compare the values. I believe this would be a more efficient and easier to implement solution

On B, what he wrote isn't correct (Just clarifying cause it confused me for some time). The progression is: a + (a + 1) + (a + 2) + ... + (a + n) a[n] = a + (n-1). Sn = (a + a + n - 1) / 2 * n So.. G * 2 = (2*a + n - 1) * n That's why you see him g / n first, so 2 * a + n - 1 is left then -= n, -= 1 (AND NOT +1 like he wrote), and do the checks. Nice!
