Kid Rock is back with his new song "We The People"! And it's somehow even better than Kid Rock's last song "Don't Tell Me How To Live." Let's take a look at Kid Rock's evolution from a backpack rapper to "Bawitdaba," "American Badass" and "Po Dunk" to "We The People."

To me his Baw Witda Baw video was just Girls Girls Girls painted with the 90's commercialized "Extreme" veneer. It was all the insincerity that I hated about 80's radio Rock. I live in North Dakota. Back in the 90s we had a western culture that was definitely country but not southern. Since then, the culture wars seem to have made posturing about Southern pride popular in country music and culture in general. Honestly I think people are attracted to "southern pride" because it represents defiance against diversity and changing demographic reality. It might as well be "white pride." Southern bullshit has taken over up here in a very ugly way.

Ahh, the sweet rotten smell of commercialised nationalism. We have the same shit in Europe but on a different scale depending on a country. Pure garbage that only polarizes people whilst claiming to unite them. This way it sends a message that anyone who doesn't agree with your ideals is also against the country. Rock is a person with no spine and will represent whatever gets him the most money and recognition. Is it bad? Not really, but what sucks is (in my opinion) the message he chooses to represent for the reasons I mentioned above. But what do I know? I'm just some leftist European.

I worked for Kid Rocks manager. Here’s a letter I wrote to the New Yorker magazine Your profile of Kid Rock in the November 12, 2012 issue made for interesting and enjoyable reading. There is, however, an important piece of information of which you may be unaware of regarding the origins of the song "Bawitdaba". In the 1990's I worked under the supervision of Tim Brack who was not only Kid Rock's manager, but was also the president of Continuum records to which Kid Rock was signed at the time. During this time my band, The Sprinkle Genies, performed regularly, and one of our highlight songs "Bum" was vaguely reminiscent of the Marcels version of "Blue Moon". In the mid 90's we recorded "Bum" at Waterworks studios in Manhattan. By 1997 Continuum records had folded, yet I continued to work under the supervision of Mr. Brack, who was still involved with Kid Rock at the Cafe Music Network -- a marketing company that among other things promoted music and created compilation CD's to be played in cafes. In 1997 I was asked to contribute a Sprinkle Genies song to the latest compilation and I contributed the song "Bum" . The compilation, Cafe Music Selects Vol. 2" was released in 1997, and together with The Sprinkle Genies song "Bum" received a mention' in the November 1, 1997 issue of Billboard magazine. "Bum" also appeared on several college radio playlists. In 1999 a number of people contacted me to say they heard someone else covering "Bum" by the Sprinkle Genies. Although I was no longer working directly under the supervision of Mr. Brack, my employer was still working with him on a number of projects. When I made it known that I was planning legal action concerning the unauthorized cover of "Bum" my employer, Deborah Flanagan, advised me that pursuing this case would prove catastrophic to my career in the music industry. I reluctantly heeded Ms. Flanagan's warning, and for the sake of my livelihood I dropped the issue. I still own two unopened copies of the compilation CD and have enclosed a CD copy of the song. Hope this information is helpful. Sincerely, Andrew soundcloud.app.goo.gl/bubeoWBKqQyjUSSA9
