We would like to preserve this wonderful culture as much as possible. Although the times have changed and we play more and more on home video game consoles, it is very exciting to actually play against each other in a game center. It is sad to see the number of game centers in Japan continue to decline. As one of the fighting gamers in Japan, I would like to continue going to game centers as long as I can.

I feel bad having grown up in Tokyo circa-2000. This is more like a lan party, the arcades back in the day had a grimey feeling to them but were professionally managed. Attendants would replace your ashtray. I had the eye of the local gang and they once filled my bike with trash and stole the lock key. My own fault, I didn't lock it. 😊

One of my "if I became filthy rich" things used to be that I'd put up an arcade in Japan or Brazil, with cash prize tournaments revolving around the games I wanted to see (pre-MOTW Fatal Fury, Tekken 2&3, WHP, AoF3 and many many more). Basically, to control people away from the usual games with money, and have people to play against while they were practicing (I wouldn't be good enough for the tournament play). FightCade has very regional player bases for games that aren't Capcom or KoF'98.
