As a non brazilian and a Angra fan since 2001 i gotta say: The fact that this band isnt up there with Pantera and dream theater in terms of global metal popularity is the biggest injustice in the music industry. When in fact Angra is the best Power metal band EVER, far surpassing bands like helloween and dragonforce in terms of masterpieces, criativity and uniqueness in their tone! Just listen to their first 5 or 6 albums. When i first listened to Carry on in 2001 i fell in love immediately with them even i dont like power metal as much! They just sounded different and again on the same epic level of pantera dream theater and others.

After Andre Matos death it makes me so sad to listen to Rafael saying he wants all past members to get together and play again one last time :( Angra is my all time favourite band and that would have been awesome. RIP Andre Matos.

If you don't know the album Temple of Shadows, do yourself a favor and go listen to it right now!

You two came out of it, you were late I guess, and we welcomed you with screams... Kiko hug a guy in front of us, who said: I'll never wash myself anymore! This was my very first metal show, I had noise in my ears for 2 days... And after I saw you at the Aquaboulevard, at the Elysee Montmartre, at the Virgin Megastore, at the Zénith with Stratovarius, and at Evry métal festival... The good old days... Thanks for everything you gave me, keep up the good work, I'm pretty sure André is watching over you from where he is now... Hail from France!

That story part about how the band was happy that Kiko accepted into Megadeth and they sent Kiko away to the US ... that's so beautiful.

The two of you are some of the GREATEST guitar duo's ever!! In my opinion the both of you are in the same league or better than guitar duo's like Glenn Tipton and Kk Downing, Adrian Smith and Dave Murray, Kai Hansen and Michael Weikath, Rudolph Schenker and Uli Jon Roth, and many others. I have known about Angra for at least twenty years, but the first time I ever gave them a listen was two months ago on the same day it was announced that Andre Matos passed away. Two months later I have become a massive huge fan of Angra big time! I wish that I gave Angra a chance a long, long time ago. In two months I have gotten all the studio albums and live albums. I love them all , especially Angel's Cry, Fireworks, Rebirth, Rebirth Tour Live In Sao Paulo, Temple Of Shadows, Angel's Cry 20th anniversary Tour, and Secret Garden. Not only are Angra PHENOMENAL musicians, but they are very humble and have huge hearts. Some of my all time favorite bands in the past thirty five years are Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Iced Earth, Accept, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Scorpions, Dokken, Whitesnake, and many more. Angra is now on the same list for my all time favorite bands ever.

Rafael is one of the best writers of heavy metal, his lyrics can be so deep that sometimes I had to consult a dictionary to know the meaning of a word I never read/listened before. I guess he spent a lot of time doing crosswords or playing scrabble. Even talking in his non-native language he can express his feelings better than some English speakers. I've always consired you two, the apex of guitar duo Rafael is INSANELY good with guitar and could be the lead guitarist in 99% of world band, still the second guitar in Angra because Kiko imho is second only to Guthrie Govan I purchased the Japanese version of Angels Cry because in Europe it was released way later and you have been one of my huge inspiration I'm still one of those who thinks that Angra's Holy Land line-up could have conquered the world with some time and right marketing Both Megadeth and Angra have been two of my teenagers roots and man...I'd still want Kiko play with Angra, but I'm so happy you and Rafael still are best buddies

After finding you guys on MySpace back in 2006, I have to say I was hooked immediately!! It was the brazilian elements that drew me in as it was NOTHING like I'd ever heard before!! Holy Land & Fireworks were amazing (to me at least) in their own right but OMG when I heard Temple of Shadows it blew me away, Gate XIII to me is musical masterpiece .. its arrangement is pure genius!! I was SOOOO EXCITED to finally see you in the states .. had my ticket for months to the show in Joliet IL and then of course I came down with a serious sinus infection that knocked me off my feet for 4 days. If I have to wait another 12yrs for Angra to come back its a wait thats definitely, WORTH WAITING FOR!!! Much love to you both .. from a HUGE fan in Chicago!!!!

Essa nova geração de hoje precisa saber. Nós que pegamos o fim dos anos 80 em diante, quem tinha uma fita cassete ou LP era "o cara". CD então, só filho de rico mesmo kkk. A gente gravava programa das rádios rock, na TV etc. Nesse meio veio o trabalho magistral do Angra que encantou a todos. E o que esses rapazes fizeram para vencer barreiras!!! Tudo era mais difícil na época. Parabéns Kiko, Rafael, por suas músicas me fazerem feliz!!!

God, how much I love this band! And they're good people (unless they certainly seem so). Buy don't be confused, Angra is a so much better band than Megadeth that, yeah, for Kiko's career it was a step forward, but as a musician I think it was a step back. But he deserves so much his success, I'm happy for him.

Quando Rafa falou que, kiko criou um riff da Nothing to say que só ele tocaria e teve que modificar, ele quis deixar claro que kiko é insubstituível, é um monstro, embora, Marcelo Barbosa tbm é um ótimo guitarrista, mas o Angra sente falta do Kiko !

El Rebirth fué un excelente album, pero el Temple of Shadows reventó mi cabeza. Y eso que Eduardo F ya no estaba en su apogeo vocal. Yo tengo un sueño... volver a ver Angra con Kiko. La música de Angra no tiene absolutamente nada que ver con Megadeth (gracias a dios). Salud a ambos y larga vida al metal sudamericano!!!

Hearing the 'Holy Land' album for the first time, without any prior knowledge of Angra and with absolutely no clue what to expect, as an unbiased blank slate... was one of several moments which have changed my life. That's not an overstatement or exaggeration in any way. After nearly 20 years, if I can vividly return to that moment of awe and excitement, that tells me something. Not many such moments remain in the memory, only a handful. So, :) Então, muito obrigado Rafael, muito obrigado Kiko, para que voces foram envolvendo em criar esso momento mágico da vida disto cara que tinha 15 anos e achou 50 novas 'modes de dizer foo****e' 😅 nesse dia!

This was beautiful to watch. I have been an Angra fan since 1996 and it was hard when Kiko left. I love Megadeth too but I still miss Angra with Kiko. But watching this and seeing that the brotherhood still remains between you two warms my heart.

These are two musicians that I would love to meet one day!! They are some of the most humble people I have ever seen. Rafael is the most passionate musician . I have never seen any other musician that passionate for music. Every video that I have seen with Rafael you can tell that he really loves what he does. I am not surprised because the South American fans are also the most passionate when it comes to concerts. No one else comes even close to the energy and excitement that the South American fans have. My dream one day is to go to at least one show in South America because I really want to experience that kind of excitement. Just seeing a concert from South America on KZfaq gets me really excited.

As a heavy metal lover and a researcher in the filed of ethnic and traditional music I was so impressed by ANGRA when I first heard their music back in the 90'. They did something incredibly innovative and they did it perfectly. Great musicians, amazing songwriting and a warm Brazilian soul that you can feel in this nice chat too.

Angra is easily one of my favorite bands and these are two of my favorite guitarist. It's amazing getting some insight of how they think and write, and how passionate they are about everything. Temple of Shadows was an instant classic to me and is the closest thing to a "perfect album" I could ever find. Guess I'll wait to see what happens in 2021!

Eu conheci o Angra já nos anos 2000, moro no interior do Pará ao sul do estado, praticamente dentro da floresta amazônica, conheci o angra através de um amigo, depois por revistas e enfim ouvi o primeiro álbum que foi literalmente o primeiro álbum da banda, me lembro como se fosse hoje, aquele CD Angel's Cry faltou pouco Foi furar e ou derreter dentro do aparelho de som, depois ouvi Rebirth e daí só consolidou a paixão pelo som magistral dessa banda antológica, cara, em 2011 no Porão do Rock em Brasília tive a inesquecível experiência de ver minha banda de metal nacional favorita, impagável, fiquei bem ali coladinho no palco cantando junto, não era o Kiko nas corda, mas era o Marcelo Barbosa que também já o admirava, foi épico, emocionado vendo vocês dois nesse vídeo, sou um maranhense Headbanger que mora no sul do Pará que viu a banda favorita em Brasília, sucesso. Conheci o angra pelos meus 15 anos. Me motivou a querer tocar. Grandes músicas, solos, composições eternas. Ainda não consigo tocá-las, mas ainda chego lá. Foi a primeira banda de rock 🤘 que ouvi. Ainda sim é a minha preferida. Tive a oportunidade de assistir um show. Fui só com o dinheiro da ida, a volta...a volta... Não tinha como rs mas fui assim mesmo e fdc...

Cool and interesting story, I bought a few of your earlier albums and admired the guitar work, but I always thought: WTF would happen if they had another singer, someone who sings lower. It’s a personal taste, but I did hear it often, that one liked the music, but not the singing style. Fun fact: I looked up your 1st album and found that a buddy from the local Metal/ Music scene was involved in Hamburg. Sasha Paeth from former Heavens Gate now owns (?) a studio in Wolfsburg Germany. It’s mainly a mastering studio I think and I also think that they mastered a few of your albums there. They also mastered some After Forever albums with the brilliant Floor Jansen who is now with Nightwish...

I was at that concert in Paris in 1999 when Bruce Dickinson just appeared on the stage ! That was one of the most memorable concert moment of my life ! Unforgettable , I can also remember we all had some promoting lighters ( we still could smoke inside at the time ) and with my friends we just lighted one big cigar that we bought especially when Lisbon would start ! What a time that was , was 17 and that is gold memories !
