Honestly, I felt the grief that the enemies experienced was something we don't see very often in western action. I found that kinda interesting.

The reason why those gang members were emotional and crying was because they were family.. fathers, brothers, uncles, cousins.. not simple gang buddies.. during the final fight sequence main antagonist Fani says to our hero "we killed 4 of ur family amd u killed 30 of ours".

Just watched this in Hindi and read the subtitles here and there, they were not very accurate. I think they were trying to make them relatable to English speakers, but did not do a very good job.

thanks for the review! couple clarifications lads: the gang is a bunch of (fraternal) dacoits, they do this for a living, it’s a family-run business of volume if you will and hence is able to pay the bills and keep the lights on in their homes. They’re emotional bc they are merely petty thieves, and this was a robbery gone wrong, the stakes are high bc this is family blood being spilled. The passengers are generally quiet bc freezing, “playing dead”, are natural responses to fear (particularly for first class travellers). And Tulika’s fear of her father may seem irrational to you but this is a cultural norm in a country that perhaps hasn’t been able to shake off the patriarchy as far as certain western countries. Relationships with our fathers (for sons and daughters alike) are often distant, ambiguous, severely tilted power dynamic, you get it. The villain at the end is not fighting him like Md. Ali bc his father was just lit up like a human torch running through the train, he is obviously unsettled by his family dropping like flies before his very eyes. Nothing wrong with being derivative, the movie is clearly popular bc violence and action are classic and timeless, and the kills are absolutely brutal, no one cares a damn that it took long to tie up the corpses and that there was no fire truck. Easter egg btw: fani’s name means venomous and amrit’s name means nectar 😊
@ShelbieMua
@ShelbieMua 21 күн бұрын
How are they pretty thieves though? From what I recall they were already slicing people up. And the father part confused me because he’s said to be tough but throughout the movie we didn’t see much toughness from him. Maybe my expectations are different due to cultural differences. But this whole movie was very unexpected. Especially her dying in the middle of the movie 😟

@@ShelbieMua Since you're unfamiliar with the kind of decoits/thiefs this movie is parodying, check out the movies: *_Gangs of Wasseypur_*_ - Part 1 & 2_ Those movies won't be as confusing for you as Kill was, since it's a grounded, character-focused, gangster (not action) movie, based on true events. Plus, after you are finished, Kill's bad guys will start to make more sense. Gangs of Wasseypur is a single story split into 2 movies, kinda like Kill-Bill. The 1st movie serves as the back-story to set up the main conflict in #2, but they are both really good crime/mafia movies, especially #2.

@@ShelbieMua thanks KindlingEffect, banging movie recs. hey Shelbie, the only true purpose of those dacoits is to steal everything you have. they’re like pirates. except they don’t care to kill people. the weapons are to threaten them. killing makes things messy, makes them more likely to be caught bc they are not polished assassins. because they lack scruples, they will wield those weapons if necessary to protect their interests. Fani the main villain was arrogant and reckless when he killed someone, not to mention the daughter of an influential man. in India, a powerful father does not need to be strict with his children or rough with criminals. he uses his power, influence, resources and money to control people and situations. ALSO - if you recall, Fani’s father tells Fani off for violating his “dacoit principles”, which presumably were against killing innocent people. the killing the dacoits did after was bc things got messy after Fani killed Tulika and things rapidly escalated.

‘All of these passengers [on the train] are just standing around like they’re waiting for the bus’. 🤣🚂🚌 This sounds like THE CASSANDRA CROSSING meets MIDNIGHT EXPRESS meets MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS meets SUPERBUS meets RUNAWAY TRAIN meets DIE HARD meets TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE . . . but with super attractive Indian models turned actors doing ultra-violence and no breakaway shots of people dancing on the Egyptian pyramids or the Sydney opera house or in the Alps. 🤣

Bishnu Shrestha fought with 40 robbers on a train from Ranchi to save a girl who was going to be raped in front of everyone on the train, he was an Indian soldier from the Gurkha regiment, He killed three of them in the fight and injured eight others. The remaining robbers feared Bishnu's brave attack and fled the scene. This movie is based on real events with just movie plots.

I give the film credit for being a Raid-esque type film in such a small, clastrophobic area. In the trailer, you never know that the main character has a partner helping him. To me John Wick is gunshot after gunshot after gunshot. It gets boring after a while. This movie has the creative kills like the lighter fluid scene and the extinguisher scene. You’re right about the trailer, don’t show so much.

No offense but honestly India has low budget trains as a result of 300 years of colonial loots. And of course the loots, which gave Europe enough wealth to maintain high profile bullet trains 😂😂. That's based on an incident that took place on 2nd September 2010 in an express train named Mourya express passing through the jungle of West Bengal. Where a retired Indian Army personnel from 7th Battalion of 8th Gurkha Infantry, named Bishnu Sreshtha fought back against 40 or more fully armed robbers single handedly for more than 20 minutes even after getting severely wounded. And the reality was much more dramatic than this movie. The plot was more horrific and eventful than one can even imagine even in a scary nightmare. There are plenty of articles about him on the internet. He was rewarded for his bravery by the Indian as well as Nepal government. The Gurkha Regiment is the pride of the Indian Army.
