Hi guys, a mate and I started on a similar journey to you guys at the same time, albeit with a ep3 civic type r, we went for the Federal RSR tyres, they have been great so far at both brands and Bedford, I have run t1-r tyres before on another car and the federals are a major trackday upgrade!

good to hear! hows the civic treating you?

@@GuysThatDrive It is coming along, like you guys we stripped it but also had to fit a baffled sump (a must for EP3s on track). The RSR tyres highlighted the need for better suspension and brakes (now done). How did your pads hold up after Bedford? That long straight ate ours over a day.
@GuysThatDrive
@GuysThatDrive 5 жыл бұрын
James Mason what sort of weight does a stripped ep3 come in at do you reckon? Our pads somehow held out till the end of the day but then fell to bits about 5 miles into the drive home! Either totally worn out down to the backing plate or the pad material separated and fell off as they cooled down at the end of the day. Either way, need new ones now!

@@GuysThatDrive We *Think* we are around 1025-1050kgs, we removed all the interior minus the dash including the original front seats and replaced with second hand bucket seats, we also removed the aircon. It is a little weapon now, managed 3.01 round Bedford GT with the standard suspension, should crack sub 3mins now with the new coilovers. Watching your video again your tyres are certainly holding you back, we are flat round the left right after the first chicane where you guys are feathering the throttle.
@GuysThatDrive

James Mason looking forward to getting up good tyres on it! Could get that left right flat if the tyres weren’t too hot. The faster timed lap at end was flat in 3rd, would just about get through the right hander before needing to change up to 4th. That’s decent time round Bedford in your civic, that thing must fly!!

I’d recommend Yokohama’s ad08r’s. Loads of grip and I like the tread pattern as well 😂 I’d also say don’t move your hand round the wheel, would make your driving smoother and quicker.

Hi guys, like the video, I was there with the Peugeot 206 gti 180 you were next to! I used Mohawk budget tyres that day and find budgets work surprisingly well! Shame I didn't record footage that day!

Hi mate, think you passed us out on track! The toyos were okay for a bit but quickly overheated. Looking forward driving it with some proper track tyres. Good luck with your series, will be following and might see you at a track day next year

@@GuysThatDrive Hi mate, do remember passing a blue clio! My set of Toyos lasted Bedford, Donnington (PT. 7) and a trip to the Ring (PT. 8 yet to do) with 8 laps! Cheers hope you enjoy the videos! Will probably catch you on track next year as the Pug is still running strong!

Hi guys, i'm starting with a Clio 1.6 on road tires. with 195/50 R15 In order to perform better with road tires and not destroy them or run danger of dismount you should go with a higher pressure than road. That primarily will avoid using the side of the tires while turning. I use 36psi front and 39-40psi on the rear so it tend to oversteer than understeer. Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
@GuysThatDrive
@GuysThatDrive 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info, we found that with high pressures it understeered worse, weren’t too worried about ruining the tyres as meant we could change to better ones sooner! Good luck with your Clio 👍

Put AD08R's on my 172 for Cadwell Park last and they seem to be made from glue...Get on it! Great vid btw

Thanks for the Video :) I can recommend the Federal 595 RS-R, they are pretty affordable and have a stiff sidewall. They are way better than the T1R on a track. I have the T1Rs on my e30 and the Federal RS-Rs on my e36 and drove both on Anneau du Rhin.

What springs are you fitting? I'd go for eibach sportlines, make a huge difference for the money. Also swap steering wheel for a omp or sabelt 330mm one. Tyres as already said by others you have lots of options and running 15" wheels means they are cheap as well.
@GuysThatDrive

looking at either cooksports or sportlines yeah. Steering wheel will be on the shopping list very soon too

T1Rs a.k.a the ditch finders, you boys want some ad08r's legend of a tyre they are or some R888's.

chaps, in an earlier episode you bought some driving gloves, alpine stars I think? they are notorious for falling apart but surely not already? why aren't you wearing them? Also where do you store your tools at Bedford, not in the pitlane I guess? or is that what is making the rattling noise in the car?
@GuysThatDrive
@GuysThatDrive 5 жыл бұрын
The gloves were mainly to avoid getting stuck to the steering wheel as in hot weather the standard wheel melts so badly! In this vid it wasn’t anywhere near as hot so didn’t need the gloves. There is usually 1 garage bay that Is left free for people to leave there stuff in, we just leave our tools and things in there. Other times we have borrowed the corner of someone’s garage bay to leave stuff in

Guys That Drive thanks for the response. I am about to start (tomorrow) a 100 hour track day challenge in a Twingo RS. 20 trackdays in 1 year min 5 hours per day. Your bit of French tin gives me some hope that my car will do it....

AR1’s are great but don’t last long at all. 1 full day at thruxton has them nearly finished for example. NS2r’s last much longer and and are still a capable tire. Both shite in the wet. AR1’s unusable
