We've been trying to make a BTS Tiny Desk concert happen for years now - even gaming out ways we might move Bob Boilen's desk far enough forward to accommodate the superstar Korean boy band's dance moves.
In the end, it took a global pandemic - and the launch of Tiny Desk (home) concerts back in March - to make something happen. With BTS cooped up in Seoul, the group held true to the series's spirit by convening a live band for its Tiny Desk debut, and even arranged to perform in a workspace with a music-friendly backdrop: the record store VINYL & PLASTIC by Hyundai Card in BTS's hometown.
Opening with this summer's inescapable "Dynamite" - the group's first single to hit No. 1 in the U.S., as well as its first song to be fully recorded in English - BTS leaned hard into the new track's celebratory, "Uptown Funk"-adjacent vibes. From there, the group dipped into its back catalog, seizing on the opportunity to showcase its quieter side while (mostly) staying uncharacteristically seated. The breezily propulsive "Save ME," from 2016, ultimately gave way to a full-on power ballad in 2017's reflective "Spring Day."
The latter track seemed especially true to BTS's hopeful nature: Introduced with a few optimistic words from rapper and singer RM ("It's been the roughest summer ever, but we know that spring will come"), the song reflects on a need to wait out hard times, even as the weight of present-day pain feels oppressive.
BTS had intended to spend 2020 delighting the BTS Army in arenas around the world, only to spend these last few months performing in isolation. Released on the last day of a grim season, "Spring Day" provides a nice reminder of what awaits us on the other side. We just have to get through fall and winter first.

if you're a big sucker for real harmony, then BTOB and MAMAMOO are the only answer. many other groups usually only sing in unison and barely do harmony while BTOB and MAMAMOO show us the real harmony

Lots of connections between these groups. I'm a moomoo so I'll mention some of them in relation to Mamamoo. BtoB's Changsub is MMM Solar's best male friend. They co-starred in Solar's musical theatre debut last year where she played the lead in Mata Hari and he joined her for a song switch session on her yt channel Solarsido. Moonbyul & EXO Xiumin look like twins. Wheein has done several EXO covers including a terrific version of Baekhyun's solo song Candy. MMM & Red Velvet have been friends since their rookie days. Seulgi is one of Moonbyul's best friends and she featured on Moonbyul's solo song Selfish. Byul & Seulgi were also in a project group called Girls Next Door for a tv show called Idol Drama Operation Team and released a single called Deep Blue Eyes. Mamamoo was the first group invited to do a Killing Voice episode. The songs they chose are a small sample of their hits and versatility. They've released over a dozen albums as a full group and another dozen or so as soloists or a subunit and good luck trying to find a bad song among the hundreds they've recorded. In Korea when people talk about Mamamoo they say BeLisMaMoo - Believe and Listen to Mamamoo - and folks say they can sing anything and write a song about anything. Few groups have such a diverse discography - in this 15 minute medley the songs included elements of jazz, r&b, 60's soul, doo wop, reggaeton, hip hop, gospel, rock and probably a few more that slipped my mind. You might enjoy hearing back stories about the songs in the medley. The first song Mr Ambiguous was written by the co-CEO of their label RBW (Rainbowbridge World) for Quincy Jones and the girls performed it for Quincy when he was in Seoul for a concert while they were still trainees and didn't have a name for their group yet. QJ decided not to use the song so the original song title was changed from Mamamoo to Mr Ambiguous, the group's name became Mamamoo and the song was released as their debut track in 2014. They performed all four title tracks from their landmark four album series 4 Season 4 Color: Starry Night, Egotistic, Wind Flower and Gogobebe. 4 Season 4 Color is the most complex, ambitious project ever done by a girl group but I won't bore you with a TED Talk on 4S4C or we'd be here all day. lol I Miss You was a b-side single and there's no MV for it, unlike all the other songs in the medley. If you want to hear a full version watch their performance of I Miss You on the tv show Queendom. It's one of the best vocal performances by a kpop gg. You asked who produced Starry Night. It was written and produced by the aforementioned co-CEO of RBW, Kim Dohoon, and one of Mamamoo's main songwriter/producers Park Woosang. Moonbyul wrote her own rap verses as usual. The members often collaborate with one of both of those guys in writing group or solo songs. Dingga is a slang word meaning fool around and have fun. It was a pre-release single from their latest album Travel in 2020 when the Killing Voice video was filmed. Dingga was their way of cheering us up when we were socially distant during the pandemic. In the song and MV they fantasize about various ways they'd like to Dingga with friends of all ages, from eating ice cream and playing children's games to drinking like a fish. The final song Aya is the title track from the Travel album. Aya means Ouch! in Korean. 😂

Can I add one more fun fact? In year 2016 BTOB & Mamamoo did cover each other song. BtoB sang You're The Best while MMM sang It's Okay.

All the groups are great but I am a moomoo and this dingo killing voice is a great intro. Yes every song is great and they have a a few hundred more videos and songs, all of which are great, mamamoo never misses. Members of each of these groups have done collaborations with other. Anything you watch of mamamoo will be worth reacting too and the live performances are always the ones to go for.

Each and every group has gorgeous voices.👍 I like all the groups but I have a favorite (EXO Baekhyun) others have another favorite that you choose based on the music they make. The voices can be beautiful, but if you don't like the song, it doesn't help. You also hear different music depending on your mood. ❤
