Kim Jong-Un, the North Korean dictator, has ordered pet dogs to be confiscated in the country’s capital, Pyongyang. He states that dogs represent Western "decadence." Government authorities have identified households with pet dogs and are forcing owners to give them up or will forcefully confiscate them / put them down. Very similar to the Yulin Dog Meat Festival and the South Korean culture, these dogs are to be use for the consumption of their meat. How do you feel about this?

Eh it’s the same people with the same personality disorders, they’re just not able to be in full control otherwise it would look like this. You are right that we should be thankful for what we have, but that’s the same logic as telling a starving child to be thankful they got a piece of bread because some other child is being murdered in another country. It’s all circumstantial and doesn’t take away from the bullshit you might have to deal with because of your government. My government has made life beyond fucking difficult to the point I’ve almost killed myself. What’s the point of going “well at least it isn’t North Korea!” If I’m fucking dead from the effects of my government’s overreach?

Yeah and it could be F$%^& up to 11 which I'm pretty sure they have some death device for the poor doggie like a guillotine. Though before that I'm pretty sure the poor dog would have been given some last meal which puts it to sleep, shaved and the killed in said fashion and no can't eat that meal since it's good for dogs is the likely outcome or worse it's given a show trial like Middle ages times. Anyway may want to look into that or Google and KZfaq all about that. Though I can be wrong.

Sure, there’s a possible moral incongruency when we gasp at them being eaten… after all dogs are all but domesticated here in the states. But there is no moral equivalence between slaughtering the grazing cows for protein and state imposed confiscations of partial or fully domesticated pets for the same purpose.

When you think about it, what's the difference between dog meat and the other types of meat out there? Some cultures might choose to eat cow meat while others will choose to eat dog meat and so on! I don't consume animal products btw.

I think the difference is the each species affection towards human and how they interact with us. Cats and dogs interact with us just like human does aka with affection and play around, seeing your eyes and all. But rabbits are not or atleast rarely. That's why as rabbits are also cute but people eat them. Imagine if rabbits have the same affection as cats, maybe it will be outrage to eat them also.

Rabbits are not eaten everywhere,for example in Japan. Where I live it's a traditional animal to eat but less and less are,prefering them as a pet. Pigs are lovely and more intelligent than our traditional pets. When we stop seeing animals as meat,they become companions. Every animal can become a pet,the difference is perception.

Rabbits are still be in livestock category in standard kitchen meat menu, even Gordon Ramsay or other chefs cooked them. If there people who make them as pets it's totally okay tho just like a person that have pig as pet.

This is unreal. As well as chicken. Disgraceful. I’m glad I wasn’t passing by in the street and he asked me if I want a dog steak. I might go violent on him. Are you sure it wasn’t just a joke? Offering Liberator steak? Just to check people’s reaction? End of the world. That’s what it is. I am never mince long with people choice of food. My family are eating meat, fish and cheese . As of now, after this video I have zero respect for them. Because chicken especially cows and pig are great pets. This is very upsetting. It is 6 years now that I’m vegan. I’m shame to say that all my life I eat meat, cheese and milk.

This is absolutely horrific. Holy shit. I could never in a million years eat dog. Even if I was starving, I would eat dirt. The ‘different culture’ argument doesn’t fly in regards to eating dog. When you trace the history of cultures who deem dog as an acceptable food source the origin is always a period of prolonged starvation and desperation that drove people to rationalize it, then overtime it becomes ingrained in the psyche as ‘normal.’ Dogs universally are overwhelmingly viewed as valuable assets and/or companions. I get that you’re vegan but Chickens and cow aren’t the same. Sorry, nor a chicken, cow, pig or fish will defend you or your home from harm. They also don’t appear to have the same ‘connection’ we have with dogs, cats or horses either. Scientifically speaking - it’s possible they _could_ because all creatures have the capacity to love and feel, but certain species clearly are more adept to being our companions than others. Even a Macaw has higher standing on the animal totem pole due to the ability to connect with people. And then, of course, on top of all this there is nothing inherently wrong with eating meat. Nature is bloody and brutal in of itself.

Regardless both is still wrong. Every animal has a soul and to think because one animal connects more with a human which determines their value to live is as worst as the people that’s eating the dogs. It’s not even about different culture , those people trapped in a place where they is fighting for they lives because of the lack of resources they have. I love animals equality but I feel like if we’re over here eating all types of animals that could be another animals child or mother , I’m okay with the little kids that’s starving to death with no idea why they being starved gets some food to stop the pain of starvation. It’s easy to say what you won’t do when you not in that position . It’s fucked up but it happens

@@jaib1198 yeah that’s literally what I just said?? That people who have been driven to desperation or starvations are often the ones who will resort to eating dog? And you miss the point here, I’m not saying one animal’s life has any less value than the other, most cultures around the world have gratitude and respect for the animals they kill for food, but it cannot be denied psychological connection plays a role universally in what we consider food and what we consider companion. It’s just how things are. No different than how a tiger will tolerate a monkey troop yet devour a gazelle without a second thought.

Well a cow , pig , sheep , chicken historically was always food and dogs and cats they are predators technically you don't really see in general the average human eating a lion or a tiger you know. The New testament Jews and Christians never considered these scavenger animals as food so when the discussion of foods was brought up the discussion never was about these creatures. Just like today if someone asks,what's for dinner? the thought of rat soup, or fried cat or diced dog salad on bread never is in your thoughts, so you 'New Testament Christians' should study what Jesus said in the Old Testament, He is the same God and He doesn't change or contradict. A starving people would eat anything. However, we can’t implement our “pc bs” on the world. My aunt is from thePhilippines & at 5 she told me that she’d love to eat my puppy & I laughed thinking it was silly. She grew up eating puppies & using the blood for gravy. Ppl can’t be hypocritical & eat cows, pigs, chickens or things like alligator, snake or ostrich eggs but regularly eat bear, deer, sheep, squirrels, turtles, opossum, caribou etc & appalled by dogs? Most of y’all feed your dogs meat products & none of you would allow your kids to die of starvation if you had a dog to cook! Every country doesn’t have whole foods & farmers markets or grocery stores every square mile. The judgement of entitlement & privilege is appalling!

This is literally the most upsetting world news I have ever heard in my entire life. Not that our immagration laws, china's hostile takeover of Hong Kong, does a horrible treatment of the uighurs, or the slavery like laws against women in the middle east of any of the other horrors in the world don't break my heart as well. Dogs and Horses are off the menu, the reason is that they will do anything for you ,they are Nobel and loyal,they have worked with us throughout history, and above all they have the ability to LOVE . This is hopefully not happening in NK because they can easily raise chicken and goats.

LOL I never thought of it that way. I actually think I ate cat and dog many times from chinese food places around here. I grew up hunting and in science and know muscle structure. The Beef on a stick wasn't beef people and some chicken dishes it was too thin and cat like. Who cares LOL it was good - now I'm hungry, Thank a lot Lynda LOL
