Sad as it sounds, I'm glad that Kim passed before his father. I can't imagine how he might have suffered the loss of his father, being as dependent on him as he was his entire life. I feel sorrow for his dad, who lived an additional five years without his son. It must have been horribly difficult to suddenly have this void in your life after you'd spent "30 hours a day" caring for and loving someone. As Kim said, "My dad and I share the same shadow."

I too am glad that he passed before his father. Usually that is not something that one would hope... but in this case it promised him the best life that he could possibly have had.

I met Kim in Utah years ago. He loved when people asked questions and he would fire off the answers by the time you said the last word. I told him my address and he told me my last name. He's memorized the phone book after the first time he read it. His father was also a really sharp guy that has memorized lots of information.

This is amazing. I am so glad I watched this. I think I have a family member that's a borderline Savant. He's very young but has an awesome skill. He can look at something & draw it EXACTLY how it looks. When I say exactly, I mean EXACTLY. His attention to detail is PHENOMENAL. Yet he might be what we would consider "slow". At times it is difficult for him to speak clear sentences or explain something simple. Sometimes he says random things. After seeing this, we are going to have him tested..

"Confounding mixture of disability and brilliance". What is, Autism?
@LadyCoyKoi5 жыл бұрын
It is a disability/disorder that hinders social and communication skills. We tend to have great difficulties in understanding abstract concepts such as body postures or nonverbal cues, difficult in changes, we tend to focus on a particular behavior or subject matter... sometimes both, we have obsessive routines, there are many other factors and not all are shown or demonstrated and there are various degree, which is why it's consider a spectrum disorder. Kim Peek is one of the rarer version of ASD. He isn't the only version of this disorder. Overall, Autism is a social and communication disability/disorder.
