Welcome back to another Peak District hike! In this weeks video I attempt the Kinder Scout Skyline challenge, a 20+ mile hike that takes you around the perimeter of the Kinder Scout Plateau. Kinder Scout is one of my favourite places to hike in the Peak District so I figured this route would be a great way to see all of its beauty in a single hike!
I hope you enjoy the video and feel free to leave a like, subscribe and comment, it'll really help support the growth of my channel :)

Hi Alex, watched this and it hit home when you said it makes you feel closer to your Mum. This year was the first anniversary of my Mum's passing. I'm on the Ethel Challenge so I picked Thorpe Cloud and Tissington Hill. I had my self reflection (tears) on Thorpe Cloud and by the time I got back to the car the Queen had died. I was 59 when i lost my Mum and I'm still devastated, I can't imagine how I would feel at your age. Anyway, great hike, a bit beyond me, but still great to watch. Love the music, the videography, everything really. And I get the bit about being alone. I did Slitherstone Hill and Bradwell Moor in a loop from Peak Forest. It took me 3 3/4hrs to hike and vlog so I hate to think how long 20 miles plus Drone and B roll took you. But on that loop I saw people in the distance twice and a couple of people on mountain bikes from a mile away. But I had the whole loop to myself. It really does hit that reset switch and help blow the cobwebs away. Mum's up there watching over you. Take care.

That was a superb walk mate. Fantastic! I love Kinder. So many scrambling routes in the many cloughs. So many amazing views, the view from Crowden Tower is 👌 and the Northern Edge is epic. Love the many many rock formations and the epic Kinder Downfall. It’s an extraordinary place. Loved the filming, your commentary and music. You did well Alex! Top job 👍👍👍

Brilliant walk Alex. I did part of Kinder with a mate in January. We had sunshine and blue skies, but there was a freezing wind! Like you I look forward to the Spring and Summer with the light nights. That was some walk over 20 miles, I don’t think I could do that. But I am in my 70’s! Having said that we were out for around 5 hours roaming around on the plateau, doing probably no more than 10 miles, but it was great! 😀

Thank you very much Peter! Yes the wind up there can be extremely bitter in winter! It’s very easy to spend a few hours up there isn’t it, so much to explore and see and so many hidden gems!! Hope you get up there again soon and hopefully the wind is slightly milder this time 😁👍

Another cracking video Alex! I love the way your enthusiasm comes across when you're describing your walks. This was a really fab walk and those views from The Edge in particular were just awesome. I was thinking that, if this was just over 20 miles, you will have walked more like 30 miles after all those shots of you walking, and then having to walk back again to retrieve the camera every time! 😃 Great stuff Alex. Have a good week and all the best 👍

Thank you very much, really appreciate the kind words!!😁 The Edge always blows me away, definitely need to get a wild camp done up there soon! Yes!! I think I definitely walked a lot further than 20 miles 😂 those last few walking camera shots are always a killer when you have to go and retrieve the camera!! Thank you very much, hope you have a great week too 😁👍

Wow, your drone shots add an incredible new level to your videos. Absolutely loved it! And I understand a little about how you feel closer to your Mum out in the hills. For me, being outside is my way of staying 'in touch' with my grandparents, it has helped me feel close to them and maintain an active relationship no matter how much time has passed without physically having them around. Yet another special thing about being outdoors I guess :)

@@alexcripps.outdoors ha ha...I was saying it in a tone of surprise. I wasn't questioning if you were being truthful or not. I used to venture in to the middle parts photographing the mountains hares. A few times mist rolled which made it very disorientating. Like being on another planet!!

My bad!! I read into that completely the wrong way 😂 To be honest when I planned the route I was very surprised at how long it was!! Couldn’t believe the route nearly ended up being as long as the Edale skyline! Yes it’s a very unique landscape up there which does feel like you’re on a different planet! I actually saw a hare on the northern edge during this walk, I can’t recall seeing any before so I was very surprised when I spotted it!! Apologies for miss reading the message 😁
