Looks a fantastic walk, reminds me of one of the best walks I've ever done a couple of summers ago. Up past Otter Brook and Ringing Roger late in the afternoon, follow the path to the eastern edge of the plateau and then along the nothern edge to spend the night bivvying under Madwoman's Stones. In the morning I struck out across the plateau to hit up all three trigs before coming down via Jacobs Ladder. High summer so a lot of the bogs had dried out, but the flipside meant there was no water to be had anywhere. All the cloughs completely dry. Never had (filtered) river water tasted so good as when I finally made it to the little ford at the foot of Jacobs Ladder!

That sounds like an awesome couple of days on the plateau!! Can’t beat a summers night spent on Kinder, I might have to give this route a go as I absolutely love the Northern Edge. Cheers for the great comment! 👍😊

This was my final Ethel, the 95th. It was quite emotional to tell you the truth. Love the time-lapse too Alex. Another great video. Thanks for sharing.

Was up there last weekend. Chilly 7°C which is cold for May. Loved the scramble up Grindsbrook Clough. Gets the blood pumping. Thanks for the video!

Another inspiring video Alex. I’ve done a lot of that in recent years, but like you never really sure I was at the summit. Never get tired of Kinder! 😀. Thanks!

Thank you Peter! Yes I thought I’d finally decide to give the official summit a go, I don’t think I’ll be rushing back there soon as there are much better views to be had elsewhere but nice to get it ticked off! Thanks again, all the best 👍😊

Hi Alex, another lovely hike there! I never tire of Kinder and have explored some of the Plateau in the last few years, including the “7 minute crossing” which was a handy route to the top of Blackden Brook. You are right, the Official summit area is pretty flat and would make for a camping pitch, at least if it wasn’t blowing a gale due to the exposure up there. That part of the plateau isn’t too bad, but a little distance to the east, the Peat gruffs are pretty sizeable and it’s hard going in wet weather! I haven’t ticked the summit off yet, thank you for making the route so clear. Looking forward to the next video 👍

Thank you Greg! So much to explore on the plateau, feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface. I’ve only done the 7 mile crossing once and that was during an ultra marathon so I don’t have much recollection of it, my head was gone 😂 so I’ll definitely be giving that a go as I also want to do Blackden Brook again this summer. I think I got very lucky with the bog as I know it can be awful up there this time of year. Thanks again Greg and hope you’re well 👍😊

Everything about your content and presentation is class. I really wanted to see your map and compass out though.....perfect opportunity to test the nav skills....walk on the bearing with pacing and timing and see how close you get without finding the bog 🙃

Hi Alex. My very first wild camp in the UK (am originally from South Africa) was following your video of up Grindsbrook and camping at Woolpacks and got bitten immediately, not just by the midges lol. Yes, that would be a cool even if barren place for a camp 😀 Thanks for the video!! Keep them coming!

Great to hear you got out on Kinder for a wild camp! Hard to beat it up there in the summer, despite the tiring hike to get up there. Lots of wild camping videos to come this year hopefully. Cheers! 😊👍

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the time lapse. A great time to visit is in August when the heather is in full bloom, it was the best I’ve seen it last year, will make a change from the usual greys and browns 😊👍

cool video. most people don't show the path they took to get to the summit from the edge. some people have gone from kinder low which is sometimes a good way if not too wet.

Great video. It is a real shame that Kinder Low is not the highest point. The true summit is one of the most pointless places to visit. Been up Kinder and various places on and around the plateau over thirty times now, but only ever bothered to do the true summit once, just to say I've done it. It is actually quite hard to believe when you are up there that it is definitely the highest point. So much land around you looks higher. It would be interesting to know when the entire plateau was last surveyed. With it being so eroded over the decades I reckon it is probably lower than when it was originally surveyed. I was camping up on Kinder in -5 on Sunday, the sunrise was well worth the long cold night.

Desperate to get back to the Peak District had our first outing in October and absolutely loved it. Kinder Scout, Jacobs Ladder on our bucket list at first opportunity. I checked out your winter hiking gear list as that is something else we need to invest in, out of interest what gear did you have on for this hike. Definitely going to get the OS App. Thank you for a great video.

Kinder is a special place mr, it has an elegance of time and beauty bringing people together. I religiously take this route and extend the walk forking off to brown knoll. A good old pint at ramblers in and chips n curry 😮. Will say helloi if I come across in summer, sir.

Nice one Alex. I visited that point last summer for the 1st time after decades of hiking all around Kinder and Bleaklow.You are right , that would make a really good camp spot although rather exposed to the elements. Do you know what those blue metal pipes are that are scattered about Kinder ? They look like some type of capped pressured pipe.Could they be part of a Geotechnical survey or monitor program etc ? I spotted another one in the Seal Stones area on Friday night when i camped up there with a mate and we was treated to a pretty spectacular Inversion that filled the Snake Pass and Allport Valley area.
@alexcripps.outdoors

Cheers! I’m not too sure about the blue pipes if I’m honest, I have a friend who knows Kinder better than anyone so I’ll see if they know the answer next time I see them! Sounds like a fantastic wild camp, I need to get out on one soon myself!
