but with no one to kill wolf and lamb will start killing eachother and lets say wolf dies. kindred would be hunted by the etherfiend and when the etherfiend cant eat souls no more he will starve and leave the mask mother all alone. thats the perfect setup of kindreds lore and how it describes the end of the end

@@far_mobil1108I don't think Lamb and Wolf can kill each other, because Wolf would just not accept death and Lamb would, so they can't take each other. My theory is that even if their masks are forgotten, both will always remember each other, so they'll always be there forever.

@@eristhediscordia It wouldn't work. The Etherfiend start hunting spirits when they have a small amount of believers and they're weakened, not specifically when they don't have ANY.

I don't. Runeterran champs started out cool with Jhin, but then they got lazy and just made runeterran champs have a few support cards. Jhin is cool because you can add any card with a skill, which opens the door to interesting deckbuilding whereas now it's just support cards they flat out give you.

The lore is kinda vague on the details but she seems to have created the other masked creatures like Kindred. Kindred's mask represents "Death" (Peaceful and Violent/Natural and Unnatural). The other masks seem to represent other forms of death or metaphorical concepts like how the Etherfiend represents "True Death" (being forgotten). The origins of the Mask Mother herself isn't really explained all that much unfortunately.

@@LoRVoiceLines there is some evidence that the greyman was the original god of death, and when he split himself in two, the mask mother gave the newborn kindred their masks and thus their identities.

It's kinda a mystery, from Yone's lore we know all spirits have a "mask" which is their "sealed" form... Mask mother is, in my opinion, the concept of "mother" to the other spirits. She gave them a mask, and so she is their mother. The greatest mystery as of yet is around this : who is the mother of the mask's mother? Who gave her, her mask?

The old lore could still work with the Mask Mother making the Grey Man mask first and then Kindred splitting themselves in to two.

Yeah, the added lore from legends of runeterra really ruined the OG concept. They've been downgraded from death personified, to just "a death". Their origin also doesn't make as much sense, because the gray man was lonely, but the Kindred have all these death friends that they seem to have a good rapport with.

I think the grey man is death incarnate but he takes different forms as time goes on and the kindred are just his most current (and most powerful at the moment) incarnation because kindred is the most wide spread religious and spiritual conception of them in runeterra.

@@frostpanda7694My headcanon is that there is only one "end" which is the Lamb and the Wolf and no other spirits of death. I hate them being downgraded to only one of the spirits :/

Yes! If I'm correct Grey man is still Kindred until he was split in 2. The Masked Mother just gave the 2 parts their identities of Lamb and Wolf

They wouldn't interact. Kindred takes spirits to the Spirit Realm, Morde already dead and in a state of a spirit in a spirit realm, he isnt immortal "abomination" like Sion or SA ghosts.

@@thatguy-js7ri that is not the new lore, the lore is confusing now ill admit, but it appears to be that the grey man is still the original and true god of death, but when he split himself in two, the mask mother created the masks for kindred, and possibly the personalities they each ended up with. additionally we don’t actually know if the buzzard kills kindred, but rather the end of the universe is when death and the death of being forgotten kill each other.

It dosn't change their lore in any way. 1) It was never said if they're the only one of their kind, just the opposite, it was said from the start that there are other believes of death, but the players took it as if they meant they're talking about different belives of Kindred. 2) 6 years ago they even confirmed that when they said that Kindred is a God-Spirit, not death itself as many of us assumed. 3) Existence of Mask Mother does not redcons their OG story. They still could be tied to a Grey Man, but now they would have better explanation. Because it's really not smart from a story perspective to write something "Ye there was a Man and he split himself and now there is two powerfull entities". Like.. Why.. How.. Huh? And their story *FINISHING SOATES* hints that their masks were created from one mask that was broken. So nothing has been changed, only supplemented. Therefore, as we can see, the addition from LoR only continued their story and gave us more information. It didn't override anything from their original lore, you made up information yourself that they never specifically confirmed and passed off your guesses as real facts.

Still there and existing but at the same time not; 3) okay so we take the grey man story, vage, fairy tail like and mysterious (good enough for such a mythical character) and turn the origin of kindred into the mask mother a new goon with no relation to the champ that has existed for years... the splitting in two is also so fking good as they complement each other +, and if there were always many then all of it is not necessary; Again their masked were created from one was always there, its literally the trailer for the champ... So now Grey man was he just a nother minion or is he the og death spirit? Would he also be harvested by the Etherfiend? Just alone the fact that there is a start and end to kindred is just pissing all over them - imagine if you said hey did you know Aurelion Sol has a big brother who is actually the creator of this, but Arelion is just so petty cause he has feelings of inferiority but deeply loves his big bro and wants to make him proud and impress the other dragon Aureliana Sol... (maybe not the best example) but it would also just take a shit on so much of what the champ is and what he represented. All the "issues" you had with "uwu kindred and the grey man come from no where why how huh" is now all the same for masked mother and Etherfiend ...

Very strange to see that question from you, who starts debating about Kindred but doesn't know what kind of creature they are. God Spirit (or Spirit God same thing) a powerful spirits who represent some cultural ideas. Confirmed Spirit Gods from league are Volibear, Anivia, Ornn, Janna and Kindred, there are more confirmed not as champions, such as Nagakaboros or Ildhaurg but I won't list them all here. So if there are other Spirit Gods, even of the same culture, such as Freljordian Demi Gods, why we should think that there can't be other cultural spirits of death? Once again, we don't know yet origin of Mask Mother, The Ethrefiend or Grey Man, we have no idea who Grey Man was and how long he's existed. But we know that he's still a big power level entity from Fiddle and Nilah interactions. New story doesn't takes away his old lore anyhow, at least yet, but considering their hints for example in Nilah interaction, who was released after their appearance in LoR they're not planning to downgrade Grey Man, so I don't understand what this hysteria is all about. We always knew Kindred had a begging and will have the end, what are you even talking about? Their add ons made their lore more clear and understandable, if you don't like it that's your problem. In lore team work smart people, who know better how to write a perfect story, specially for fan favourite - Kindred. You're just that old grumpy type of person who unable to accept changes. Obviously Mask Mother and The Ethrefiend won't reveal all the cards at once right away. Mystery is a main theme of Kindred, but at least now we have a heavy base for their story and a base for continuation of that story. It's your choice and your taste, you have a right to not like those add ons, but you should say that right away, not justifying it with words oh it's bad cause it changed everything, when it changed literally nothing.

The mentioned ones are linked to Runtera as far as I know, while it was stated that Aurelion Sol would see Kindred when his time comes; meaning she is on a higher level then the others no? And no just because there are other Demi or Spirit gods - doesn't mean that there should be like 30 versions of kindred, there aren't 20 Vilemaw because there are different typs of spiders etc. There is a big difference between many gods and many of the same field/attribute. In the myths there aren't really 2 gods for the same job as well, its not a thing thats around. Yeah we dont know, nice - Grey man was fine as a louse origin, based likely on the Grim Reaper etc. didnt matter cause Death* doesn't need an origin story its just there since the dawn of life. But all of that is just theoretical nonsense, where you could say if league ends no more kindred... In lore there was no set up for a true beginning and death. And its also a big difference if you are there as a natural force and then disappear if its over - or if you are made and collected... I mean if we take in champ in game interactions there are a lot of things, I mean its a bit iffy no? Champ X could never kill champ y, but we get dialoge, I mean Fiddle with his Grey man is okay sure, but if we take that all 100% - we have stuff like Lee Sin calling them lesser spirits; Garen with False gods of death, so Nihila sensing the grey man potentially or as its the moment she kills them in game, it could also reference the etherfiend coming to collect... Not to mention Grey man is irrelevant, if kindred is made out of him, like we should assume; but kindred calls the mask mother - means that they come from her - so the only way that works if grey man was made by mask mother and then split; if you'd argue they are all part of him, he split in more then just two; then why would 2 parts call another part their mother. So its not possible that grey man is anymore then just another speck of dust in this new box riot opend with mother and ether fiend. The add ones make nothing clear and understandable as I said again and again they change every nearly every aspect, and add more things that now need an explanation - we didnt need more infos, kindred was clear cut already - nothing needed. Its like god, he doesn't need an origin story about his mother or super god... he is and thats it, same here; Now we have more questions then things are made clear just look what you said, "we dont now, we have no idea, how, " not your fault, they just dump stuff there and now wtf is going on, of course you ask and dont know. First mention of Kindred as a Spirit God was six+ years ago when they reworked Aatrox, surprisingly it was a moment when the new more stable lore started to form, so that was literally perfect timing. Kindred always was a Runeterran being, they never were a cosmic level entity. Riot never said that Asol will meet them, where did you even get that info from? In fact they said exact opposite, that Celestial Dragons didn't die as we used to think, they die by their own rules. You called Kindred "she", again, it's very strange to hear it from the person who starts that big debate but doesn't know the base of that character.. Anyways.. Vilemaw isn't a Spirit-God so I don't even know what your point is here. Obviously making 30 versions of Kindred is bad idea.. But there are not 30 Kindred's.. Just like in Freljord there is a solid amount of Spirit-Gods who are a same cultural idea but each doing their own thing Spirits of Death also doing their thing. There is no Death Spirit who would repeat Kindred's kind of job, Astral Fox doesn't hunt anyone, they just taking souls when those are ready to the skies, Wind and Wings also doing their own thing, they not only bringing death, but granting life, do Kindred do this too? "Death is being born and super death coming for them". But Kindred isn't *death* , they never were. They have nothing to do with that natural process, they're just guiders or reapers... There is nothing weird or funny about knowing how reaper was created and that some day they'll meet their end too. Your part with Grey Man doesn't make sense at all. His story and connection to Kindred could be portrait in MANY different ways, not only "the only way that works", I don't even know why do you think there is only one possible way and it is like you said it is.
