One more implementation of the Hexapod architecture has an ultra-compact footprint, theoretically unlimited vertical travel, lightweight moving structure and, of course, six degrees of freedom (6DOF). This concept can be used for highly dynamic motion, jitter and vibration simulation.

I was on the design & development team, 25 years ago, for a little telescope down in Texas - HET. Designed the star tracking system, where we took a similar hexapod, inverted it, hung it off an XYZ and rotational structure to track the stars across the face of the mirror (11 meters; ~36 feet), where it held the telescope's instrumentation package at the moving focal point. 20 degrees of freedom. Worked like a champ.

@@OleksandrStepanenko I like what you are doing in terms of promoting different robot geometries, *but people are getting mislead.* I have been doing automation and robotics of 30+ years and companies like Fanuc & ABB have had these types of robot geometries 20+ years ago. This is an amazing version of this kind of robot. The motion is incredibly smooth and I know how hard it is to tune motion systems and you have done brilliantly. That's some of the best motion I have seen in a while. *Just remember there are many many people out in the world who know almost nothing about automation robotics and they have been fed mountains of bullshit in recent years.* You need to explain it better that this is your version of a geometry that doesn't get used much. I'd love to know what your repeatability is. This could be fantastic for 3D printing. Most 3D is actually just layers of 2D. With this you could do true 3D printing. Way too often these days people are either misleading or letting people be mislead about technical development. This is great work but please keep people informed.

I see this as a 'finger' at the end of an arm. The arm places the finger near the work-site, the finger gets busy while the arm adjusts to keep the finger in good position. The range of motion of the finger is limited, but very accurate. The range of motion of the arm is large, repeatable, but not as 'fine' in motion as the finger. Put the arm on a Boston Dynamics Dog-Bot...3d-printing/welding/painting for on-site repairs...how many trade-unions can we piss-off at once?
