Crusaders fans loved Carlos. His quixotic style was a massive contributor to the Blues lack of success against the Red & Blacks. Crusaders had Mehrtens driving their team to massive success. Notice how the Blues haven't won at Christchurch since Carlos's one highlight there? Hope you enjoyed it 🤣

He was good but after getting intercepted by Sterling Mortlock in 2003 semi he lost his way and didn't play his natural game, cost us the game and the WC

Great national rugby player, but not that good at internationals. Didn't really step up, and an average goal kicker. Would struggle to be named in the All Blacks top 5 10's of all time.

Just like Cipriani or Beauden Barrett. Exceptional individual skillset, looks great on the highlight reel but can't do the basics of a 10: Poor place kicking game Poor defence Lack of game management Inability to dictate game's tempo Greatly talented players but not what's required for the 10 position. That position is like the conductor of an orchestra making sure all of the other components work together at the right time to produce perfection...it's not a position for individualistic mavericks with a poor mastery of the basics.

Too bad rugby union is a dying sport. It practically doesn't exist in Australia anymore. Yeah maybe it exists is NZ,.Tongaz Samoa, Africa and Italy but those nations are also growing in football (soccer). Ehh. It's a shite sport anyway League is better
