They are not neglected but they are made to stand in one spot for prolonged periods of time while they are constantly harassed by tourists. And that is abusive.

The horses look beautiful and I have seen a documentary on the Queen’s Guards, their training and the horsemen. The horses are well cared for. How long is their shift, I wonder, not being able to walk around must be a little difficult for them but at least they can back into the shade.

The answer is simple. Don't watch the videos. These horses are so well looked after the best care and the best veterinary staff. This is a traditional going back hundreds of years. Leave them alone

Horses can't drink that well with the bit still in it's mouth. As unlike your dog horses suck up water like us humans, dog's and cats lick up water.

Yes - saw on a different video taken on the same day a trooper from behind the gates bringing a drink to offer the guards on duty.

I really think you misinterpreted what I said and I am getting the abuse....have you not seen how some people are touching (often acting like idiots); this upsets the horses and the guards can do very little. There are noticed telling people NOT to touch the horses. Gosh, when did I say they mistreat the horses ? Whose comment have you been reading. Btw: My uncle is in the Grenadier Guards and I have the highest respect for the guards and feel they need PROTECTION from some idiots who act like pests. How would you like to have people to the right, left and centre getting nearer and nearer and can't do anything ? The water was a most needed thing and one can see how the horses know their friends . They’ve been at this a long time. If there was something wrong, they’d know. There’s nothing wrong with the horse. I’ve never heard of a bit breaking because it’s isteel and sits behind their teeth.

The rolling of the bit is a habit for many horses when they're bored.

Many Western bits have a roller on them for the horse to play with.

Not really. You’d have to carry a sponge as well as a trug full of water and It’s HEAVY and once you get there, you don’t want to get hairy, sweaty water into the drinking water so what do you do after the first wetting? Also they aren’t TRYING to get their uniforms soaked(the horses goals MAY differ here 😂)so sticking it in a pocket isn’t really a go even wrung out . Easier to just use their hands…..all that matters is that they get the water on there, not how it gets there so much, and that way the water stays clean to drink for the second horse.

They are actually just offering the horses water. The splash down is more of an affectionate thing. They get a proper rub down once indoors.

They only have a single big despite having double reins: I’ve seen video of them in the stables putting on the harness or soldiers carrying the harnesses.

@@kathellison8084 1 hour is too long to stand still carrying all that weight in such an environment. Shock absorbing rubber stable matting could be put in the sentry boxes to ease the fetlock a bit , but 15mins or no static duty at all would be best. Also am shocked these horses don't have the standard 12 ft loose boxes so they can lie down or roll, instead they are tied in stalls that look 6 feet wide. Not acceptable for horses that do so much road work.

The horses are only there for one hour then they switch.
