This diss seemed doper to me too. AT FIRST. Then I paid closer attention. LL used a beat that was meant to rock a club crowd. A “Tunnel banger.” But bar for bar, line for line, his disses were mad childish and shallow. No depth. No facts. Just empty threats and jabs at Canibus looks and lack of $$/fame. And the occasional sexuality diss. In 2nd Round KO Bis talked about why he was even dissing LL to begin with. He touched on LL’s hypocrisy of being a weeded out drug-free role model, talked about LL using his appeal to sell records instead of skill. And he did it in two 16 bar verses. Clever verses. Straight to the point. LL’s three verse song seemed too long and when you break down his bars, they really weren’t that clever “…your rhymes was weak, they made me chuckle like a name buckle.” 😒 His bars was mad basic and some of em were flat out weak. What he killed Canibus with though was energy. The energy of that beat, the energy of LL’s delivery, the energy in his flow, it was levels above Canibus’s beat, delivery and flow and that’s what fooled me at first. LL didn’t get the reaction from this like he expected and he wrote another one called “Back Where I Belong.” Canibus responded to this joint right here though, with a joint called “Rip The Jacker”
