First off, Merry Christmas! Let's all enjoy our last Christmas without KH3. Spend your day with your family and check this exciting episode whenever you can, because it's really worth it!
This episode turned out to be a real challenge, as I had to set my mind on how to make the most out of Lingering Will's fight and Axel's demise, which meant focusing on the emotions related to both Birth by Sleep and 358/2 Days - two different games with a different cast of characters while working on a third game, KH2.
There are a few surprises hidden here and there, blink for a few seconds and you'll miss them. I'll let you find and enjoy all of the references, I'll go get some sleep before ruining myself with the Christmas lunch.

About KINGDOM HEARTS TIMELINE:
KINGDOM HEARTS TIMELINE is an incredibly massive project I've been wanting to do forever. The only thing that was stopping me from actually working on it was the still-incomplete plot of the χ[chi] portion of the whole saga, which is also the most confusing one. However, I did want to deliver this before the release of KINGDOM HEARTS 3, so we could have the perfect road to the final chapter of the Xehanort saga at our disposal and relive, together, all of the chapters in a definitive and never-seen-before way.
KINGDOM HEARTS TIMELINE is, in fact, different by any other playthroughs or projects around because it is composed of all the Kingdom Hearts titles released so far placed in chronological order. Beware - the events are actually settled chronologically. Which means that every single cutscene and/or gameplay part will follow the exact order of the events of the saga. For instance, the birth of Vanitas will be shown before the Mark of Mastery exam, and so on.
Every episode will start with a screen showing a complete timeline I created purposely for this project.
KINGDOM HEARTS TIMELINE doesn't want to be a simple movie made of cutscenes. If It were to be like that, there wouldn't be anything special about it. This project actually started as a playthrough, giving, of course, priority to story content.
Sitting and watching a 25 minutes video made of cutscenes we've been watching for a decade is just as boring as anything else. Gameplay bits have been thoughtfully placed to make sure you won't fall asleep when watching, giving their contribute for a more immersive experience. They are necessary for keeping people interested and entertained in a never-seen-before way to re-live the saga, watching multiple characters fighting at the same time, as well as showcasing the worlds and the variety of enemies we'll encounter through all the titles.
Finding the right balance is not easy and not always possible -due to countless technical restrictions related to music, episode length and such- just as it's not easy having everyone thinking alike. Of course, I can't make everyone happy, but I did want to point this out.
Lastly, I want you guys to know that the amount of effort being put for this is massive. There are countless hours of work and dedication I've spent (and still spending) for this, for something we all love and care about. My channel is, after all, always been made of this - content that will grant you one of the best levels of knowledge and enjoyment of the Kingdom Hearts saga - and, as much as it's stressful having to translate every Japanese Union χ [Cross] episode, I still do that to deliver the latest story updates of the saga for you.
My main goal is working as much professionally as I can and add details where normally people wouldn't add. Not liking a content is totally fine, whereas insulting and posting offensive comment is not. There is nothing worse than spending your own time to show dedication for something we all love and see offensive reactions coming back at you. For this whole project to be completed, suggestions and questions coming from fans are well accepted and needed. WHAT AN EPISODE. No trouble at all with Sephiroth--it's super fun seeing a fight like this done so cleanly! And that Lingering Will fight, MAN. The music was so cool for us to hear in this context--thank you! All those flashback shots, the use of the new First Breath dialogue, VENTUS! And later on with the use of the Days-style command menu during Axel's sacrificial battle

Easter Egg note: He defeated Sephiroth and Terrra around level 30-40 at Crit difficulty. If you saw the fight with the nobodies in twilight town, you can see what level Sora is at. I be dead within the 1 min mark.

@@ValorOni If he did them as a straight playthrough in the order he presented them, sure. It's entirely possible that he came back to record the fight against Lingering Will later, or that he used mods to trigger the fight with the level he wanted. It's possible he was very low level for those fights, but the evidence is suggestive rather than conclusive.

Seeing those flashes of Ven fighting Lingering Will from within Sora was such a treat. Adding in the fact that I finally get to see Lingering Will being fought with Destati's Rage Awakened (Both versions) was just icing on the cake. Which was something that got added into BBS in 2.5, when it was released on PS3. The original release of BBS , nor BBS Final Mix, had him grow the cape at the end of Terra's story.

I just realized that we have no idea where the Cornerstone of Light is from, or how it works. It's powerful enough to ward off all darkness, and it connects to the Keyblade Graveyard - which might be the remains of an ancient Keyblade Master civilization? A "cornerstone" is a stone that a building is built on top of, the base of a structure. In this sense it's the base for Disney Castle... but what if it was originally an important piece of Scala ad Caelum? What if it was one of the cornerstones of the ancient civilization? Damn, that thing might be way more important than anyone has picked up on. Neato completo.

I see you put Sora as Ventus during the Lingering Will fight. Seeing Axel so tired and exhausted during the fight makes me sad and I teared up when he was dying and we hear the piano collection version of Roxas’s theme. And I am going to tear up again when we see Axel one last time, not counting Lea’s dream in dream drop distance, in the next episode when he gets to talk to Roxas again, especially at the scene when he was crying.

I find it interesting that, after all of Axel's death fakeouts, the one time he actually does die is on his own terms and not from being defeated. Luxord was right, Axel truly was the winner in the end.

Okay. Few comments here, First Sephiroth vs Cloud was done so perfectly it brought a single tear to my eye. Second, The lingering will battle was so much more exciting than i expected it to be and again i love your editing and style here, tugging at my heart strings a little with the ven model coming in. And Third, There is nothing more badass than trinity limit going off while mickey mouse joins in swinging around. Something about the four of them battling it out as a group has always been so exciting to me. I loved it so much. This episode like many others is another perfect episode. Can't wait to see how amazing the finale of KH2 is gonna be.

What an episode. Awesome fights all packed into one. I was very much looking forward to the fight with Terra's Lingering Will. Did not disappoint. The cutscene and AMAZING music was on point! I knew Ven was gonna be represented in some way during the fight. Loved the execution of it.

Watching the lingering will fight just made me think... will we save terra in KH3? Im always so sympathetic to aqua’s story because she’s stuck in the realm of darkness I forget about terra’s woes & how sad his story was. Led to believe to kill his master, used to steal aurora’s heart, betrayed by a man he respected, had his body stolen from him, friends gone... poor terra.

I never thought you actually put 2 extra bosses in this sector, considering you once said you didn't want to have any extra content, like the Cavern of Remembrance. But these 2 bosses were essential to the story, because of its links: - Cloud vs. Sephiroth bout is amazing, and your take on the One-Winged Angel theme is great. Maybe we will see the conclusion of this fight in Kingdom Hearts 3 - the Lingering Will fight was a must to the timeline, and your constant clashes of him fighting Sora, with the glimpse of Ventus, proves that Terra still remembers his friend through Sora; you're incredibly skilled (I admit one thing: it took me almost 3 hours and 27 tries to defeat him, the first time I fought the Lingering Will) and we all want to see Terra's return in Kingdom Hearts 3 Next time: prepare yourself for the clash of the Keyblades

I always had a hunch that you were going to use the PD Version of Rage Awakening if you ever fought Lingering Will again. The music itself gets me hyped up every time. I also love the little tidbits of editing tricks/techniques that you used for both this fight and when you allied with Axel. Major Props, EG!

I’m sorry I’m rewatching this again because I have KH on the brain, and I saw this before but want to point it out now, you jumping up the second time LW shoots his cannon of light at you and reflecting it with an X button attack, not a deflect by square, and having it so timed was the cleanest shit I’ve ever seen in my life

The way you've braided together three separate plotlines (BBS, Days, KH2) in one experience is truly a testament to what has made this project so special. I don't think so. Roxas is talking about going back to where he belongs, and he clearly _doesn't_ want to do that during the boss fight.

It’s canon as it’s addressed in the Orchestra dialogue that was done between Terra & Namine.

@@JesseT63 Depending when Namine was created, there's more or less time available for that conversation to happen during. If she only came into existence at the same point as Roxas - during the Hollow Bastion incident - there's at least a couple of weeks before Mickey and Sora seal the Door To Darkness; if she came into existence during the fall of Destiny Islands, then there's even longer. Time in the Realm of Darkness is known to be... flexible. It's even known to reverse itself temporarily in places, so there's no absolute guarantee that things will happen in chronological order, let alone at a fixed rate relative to events in the Realm of Light/Realm Between. So there's plenty of time for Namine, in her first explorations, to stumble across Terra's heart by following the chains of memories before he encounters Aqua. Or, yes, Namine might have crossed time as well as worlds to deliver that message with knowledge from the future. Making another exception to the rules of time travel as Xehanort and Yen Sid know them (alongside Timeless River).

Aah Lingering Will. I knew fully well what expect from him since I saw a LP before. Still took me 34 tries to beat him. The same happened with Mysterious figure. Only that it took me 73 tries to beat him with Aqua.

Lingering Will! My absolute favorite boss fight in all of the KH series. It's a really difficult fight but if you made a mistake, nine times out of ten, it wasn't because of some random bs. This fight is so engaging and kept me going for hours until I finally beat him. The one thing I don't like about the fight is that one sealing move he has. It basically reminds me of Kurt... Even with that though, it doesn't deter from the fact that this is my favorite fight.

I'm wondering, from a meta perspective, wouldn't have made more sense for Aerith to show up instead of Tifa. Like, have it revealed that both her and Sephiroth are illusions psychically manifested by Cloud's heart. She is his light, guiding him, while he is his dark, tormenting him. Both endlessly resurrected by Cloud's indecisiveness while also forever reminding him of his greatest failure. Aerith is gone and he knows that. It breaks his heart to see a shadow of herself walking around and unless Cloud can accept himself, Sephiroth will always come back. Just me trying to make sense of the whole "Darkness in Cloud's heart" explanation that the games keep pushing.

Random theory: Zack is Cloud and Sephiroth's Somebody. The Aerith theory doesn't make a lot of sense considering how we keep seeing her around when Cloud's nowhere near - it would make a lot more sense for a manifestation to hang out near the manifester.

@@rmsgrey Plus where would Tifa fit in since if I recall she isn't that close with Zack I wonder if theory holds what would Tifa think if Cloud and Sephiroth reunited into Zack, does she give up on Cloud or does she find a way to bring Cloud back without harming Zack

@@aozorahaou2643 Given that KH3 has Ansem, Xemnas, Xehanort, Xehanort and Xehanort all hanging around, and one of Sora's goals going in is to restore Roxas as an individual, having Cloud and Zack co-exist shouldn't be an insurmountable problem even if one of them is the other's Nobody.
