I’m not sure, I get the feeling based on the trailer that Noa and Nova’s tribes were neighbors, there may have been the occasional interaction but no real integration. I also think this is the first film to showcase how the apes began enslaving humans.

If it's going up against Dune 2, it may not win, just as 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' lost out to 'Hugo' in 2011, 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' lost out to 'Interstellar' in 2014, and 'War for the Planet of the Apes' lost out to 'Blade Runner 2049' in 2017. Those other Planet of the Apes movies were deserving, of course, but they went up against other movies that were just as deserving.
