Well, the third movie of the trilogy was just so depressing in many ways, the story was depressing, the main plot that fooled the audiences with the fake title with the "War" word at the title and posters with many apes in trenches, but actually being about a war between a small human group vs another human group where most of the time the apes are just in the middle of this fight in a concentration camp. And the way everything ends with a deus ex machina avalanche that suddenly kills all human soldiers... jesus.. that was depressing to watch. And I really liked the first movie and loved the second.

It has major importance in the original films as well. I loved that Rise (all of the modern Apes movies, really) worked in a reference in such a way that it stood on its own but was also a special callback to those who are familiar with the old films.

It's all about the writing, too. Write exceptional characters and stories and people will look the other way with CGI. Look at Godzilla Minis one. The CGI on Godzilla isn't all that great. For its budget, maybe. But overall, it's really not that good, but we forgive it because the story is good. Same with Thanos and Steppenwolf. People complained that Steppenwolf was a dumb CGI villain in Josstice League. Thanos is also a CGI villain, but he's not dumb.

@@teeahtate I think it’s very likely that the younger generation that grew up with the sequels will grow up to defend them online, just as my generation did with the prequels once we got older. However one key difference is that even though the prequels were very flawed, George had a respectable vision for all three movies, whereas Disney was making things up as they went along. That might make it harder to justify the decisions that were made.

Now, it's difficult to watch anything without pauses. I was getting ready to see this in theaters alone because that's how being a parent is, and getting to see it together made it that more special. Becoming a parent has made me look at humanity in a different way, and I feel like KINGDOM came out at just the right time for me. Rewatching the first 2 post pandemic gave them an even more realistic feel, and the 3rd examining long-term affects of the virus just hits even harder.

I honestly think this is head and shoulders above the Matt Reeves trilogy. And I liked those movies. This feels like a genuine masterpiece that balances a really solid story with some of the best set design and visual effects. Also, this is the best acting from any Apes movie ever. You had atleast 3 different actors hit Andy Serkis level here.

I'm a big fan of the 2010's Apes films and especially the Matt Reeves films so the absence of both him and Serkis was a concern. A fourth film was inevitable given there financial success but moving the story on a few generations is a smart move [especially as 'War' ended that trilogy perfectly]. I'm a massive fan of the Apes movies in general and glad to see a series that started in the 60's still going.

Saw it tonight. The first 15 minutes or so, where they introduced the new clan gave me the bad feeling that it was going to be something like Avatar Way of the Water. But as soon as Noa goes on his mission and we learn the history of what’s been happing over those several generations, I was hooked.

Everyone should check out the 5 original movies, they're something in their own right: Planet of the Apes (1968): Great, thought provoking Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970): Good, then fuckin weird af Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971): Time travel comedy/on-the-run thriller? Conquest for the Planet of the Apes (1972): Euro-action/spy-esque, wide-angles, zooooms! Víva la Révolution de les Apes! Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973): Sober, simplified, and somehow resolves everything from last movies to full circle so brilliantly!

They are masterpiece script movies, people doent know about them, most of them only watched the first one of 1968. But is extraordinaly saga all of them. I hope thay do the same in this new movies. Becaose in the Rise of planet of the apes, we can see how three astronauts are lost in the space. I HOPE they will appear in the next movie, to close the circle. Is the sense of this movies.

I like the amulets necklaces the apes have, a little religious iconography but its the window of Ceasars house from Rise. It was a nice touch that ties it back to the first one and parallels human religion ie crucifixes worn by millions of people today

Saw it last night and I am still processing my thoughts on it. I think my biggest issue right now is that I didn't feel like I had enough time to develop a bond with the new characters like I did with Caesar, Rocket, Maurice and even Koba. That might explain why I didn't really like Rise on first viewing but fell in love with it the second time. Maybe a second viewing of Kingdom will do the same for me? I really enjoyed Raka but I felt like they took him away too soon. Another minor issue was the completely human voices of some of the apes. Particularly the females. I realize that over time the apes have continued to progress in their speech development but I'd prefer that they all still have a bit of ape sound to their voices. Proxima and some of the other villain apes still do but like I said, the females just sound too human. Makes it feel like just a dubbed voiceover. Certainly all the technical elements and CGI were top notch. Thought Proxima was great. Didn't really embrace the whole bird thing. I'm sure I'll like it better the second viewing. Still can't wait for the next one though!

Saw it today myself. I’m glad that it’s as good as it is. I definitely think Dawn and War are stronger movies but I’d put this at Rise’s level at least. I agree that it’s very clever to explore how Caesar’s story and legacy gets interpreted by apes hundreds of years after his death. I think my main gripe with the movie is that Caesar was such a compelling protagonist that it’s basically impossible for Noa to compete.

War was a perfect ending for Caesar, but the Apes still had a long way to go to become the dominant species. I wish Whoever wrote this new trilogy really showed HOW the apes took over and how the humans diminished because I feel like the premise for this movie should’ve been film 5 instead of 4th.
@blackAngelProductions
@blackAngelProductions 22 күн бұрын
@@topbackpodcast2615 my only disappointment with war for the planet of the apes is for a movie called war for the planet of the apes there was like basically no war there's one fight at the beginning and then one fight at the end that doesn't even involve the apes really. I would have liked it if the movie was focused more on like Caesar actually being in like a war with Woody harrelson's Colonel character because the best scenes are his interactions with the colonel why couldn't we get like a actual like military war movie but with like Caesars apes versus Woody harrelson's people that kind of bummed me out a little bit. I mean it was a fine movie I just feel like the name was a little bit of low key false advertising.
